  1. According TVN CNN even had awesome numbers
on the weekend actually topping FNC in the demo.
I worry about the numbers for Tuesday and today
360 has more politics than news from Haiti. The
Daily Beast has a great item about CNN's coverage
from Haiti and how CNN was right to use updates
of the Senate race instead of the mindless talk
from ideological blah blah blah. Too bad CNN
could not help itself and it is way too much talk.
People are watching you for news CNN just look
    at your numbers.

  2. I think it is in bad taste for CNN to switch back
and forth between Haiti & politics on 360. It was
different for last night with the actual election
but again tonight. C'mon. Someone posted about
this on the 360 blog so maybe CNN will listen.
One segment on the election is enough. CNN
constantly makes that mistake of overkill and
that is what is happening tonight. Because of
this Campbell will trail Keith in the ratings
    tonight.

  3. If Campbell trails Keith, as she usually does, it is her own fault. Just the other nite she started to tear up because she saw babies caught in rubble from Haiti.
Most of the reporters, journalists, and anchors have children and they are IN Haiti. This woman was in the NYC studio! And the last two nites she was off.
What is wrong with her? Someone should have her out in the field like Soledad instead of sitting behind the desk reading a teleprompter.
As for switching back and forth, I found it refreshing. It gave the viewer an opportunity to view happenings in Haiti, which they can't keep spending ALL their time on, and the political election.
CNN fails when it literally "beats one subject to death." Even if it's Haiti.
Changing subject matter and change of personlities, is the key to success.

  4. CNN is right to give extended coverage to Haiti.
I do however think there is too much over
analyzing going on with regards to politics. It
is too many pundits and the Dems still have
59 votes. All this does is end the chance to
stop a fillerbuster. I am with Jon Stewart,
how come Obama needs 60 and Bush only
needed 50 and used it a lot to pass legislation.
Leave it to the media to follow the noise and
not what really happened. It is really sad that
a comedian does more research than the
cable networks. People really care about
what is going on in Haiti, but I have noticed
in the last couple of nights since wasting
a lot of time on political opinion traffic was
down on the blog.360 viewers want news.

  5. Anon 12:59 how can you bash CNN and
Campbell about Haiti.CNN is not failing with
it's news from Haiti, they are raising the bar
and reporting at a level that can't be matched.
Bravo Team CNN.At the end of 360 last night
it is clear that CNN is providing vital coverage
and now because of what Anderson, Sanjay,
Ivan and Gary's reports they will get more
much needed medical supplies. When it comes
to Haiti CNN is a huge success. When the
politics comes on I just turn the channel.

  6. I am concerned about CNN;s dayside moves.
Now that FNC is giving Megan Kelly a new 2
hour show against Ali will be huge. You have
to have women in the line up during the day.
It just sends the wrong message that women
can't handle anchoring the news .

Kelly will be solo for 2 hours.CNN made a
huge mistake moving to all solo men and it
is about the cost them.I say I agree with the
Daily Beast CNN has come into it's own and
is doing what Ted Turner wanted for CNN.

I think CNN is going a bit overboard as to
what the election in MA means.Coakley
did not campaign and that had a huge
role besides Brown will be up for re-election
in 2012, if he joins the GOP say no crowd
he will be voted out of office. There is no
data showing that people back the GOP
policies, people just want something done
about the economy. It is jobs jobs jobs.

  7. @7:41PM I did NOT BASH CNN. I bashed Campbell Brown and she is not part of the coverage on Haiti. I never said there should not be extended coverage on Haiti, but after a while it becomes OVER EXTENDED, like everything else CNN does. And yes, I have checked the numbers. They are high, but unless you keep "wishing" for disasters to occur, CNN has to get back to reality and KEEP those numbers on a daily basis....and some of us are interested in yes, other things news worthy.

  8. Jon Stewart has done a great job these last few nites on bashing Congress and yes, the Democratic Majority! If you are an advid listener, as I am, he is not only insulting FOX NEWS, but putting the Democrats on notice, that even WITH their majority, they are totally ineffective.....or maybe we just haven't been listening to the same Jon Stewart.

  9. How many times did Anderson had to toss to
Wolf for something that only need one segment.
It made absolutely no sense. It was essential to
do this on election night but last night made no
sense at all it was no longer breaking news.At
this point CNN need to stop saying the Repubs
control the Senate as Ali said today. I finally had
to turn the channel when he said how to get your
money back when doing a segment on Haiti.CNN
has definitely messed up dayside. Hint : Haiti
is still being widely search on Google but
    Scott Brown is not.

  10. Let;s hope CNN listens to people who post on
the 360 blog, viewers are tired of the pundits
getting more time than AC. Considering it is
AC 360 why so many talking heads on nothing
but speculation. Nobody can say with any
certainty what will happen in November or now.
CNN is a part of the problem by focusing on
ideology. It was nothing but rehash of the same
comments from TSR & Campbell Brown.

    ReplyDelete
  11. @8:08pm: Hint: CNN Management needs only to look at TVNewser ratings. FOX is leading and with really large numbers and they're talking politics and the last promotion I've heard about 360 on CNN, was about Republicans and keeping them honest. So like it or not, a whole lot of people who watch 360 are interested in politics and whole lot people who watch FOX NEWS are interested in politics and CNN is a business and the last time I checked, Haiti wasn't part of the United States.

    ReplyDelete
  12. CNN needs to do like they did back in the
day the pundits were mostly on Crossfire
and not excessively given time to talk and
talk. They need to find the right balance
and realize CNN's audience wants news &
less politics than someone watching FNC
or MSNBC. I have noticed they have a new
promo for politics saying facts and giving
the story straight. I am not sure I believe
that. Maybe the Sit Room can be the show
for the pundits. Right now it seems as
though the pundits control the news
rather than the reporters and that is
not a good thing because that is exactly
how the facts get lost.I think raw politics
struck things right tonight on AC360
it was the reporters having a conversation
and not the back and forth that is really
getting old. I know where it is going so
why watch the left and right control
the news. One thing I hope CNN does
is use the model for story-telling on
the network that all of the people in
Haiti are doing it reminds me a lot of
Current TV's style for the Vanguard docs.
I just would like to see more of this type
of reporting from all of the reporters
working from places around the world.
At some point someone at the network
has to realize it's about the news.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I can not watch Ali Velshi or Rick Sanchez.
Ali is really over the top and Sanchez reminds
me of Ted Baxter from Mary Tyler Moore.
It will be interesting to see if HLN and
Fox are benefiting from that move.
I am not sure 360 viewers want politics.
Anderson's numbers have not been that
great lately because of that. Just because
politics works for Fox does not mean it
will work for CNN. Monday before the quake
Anderson did focus on politics and his
    numbers were not that great.

    ReplyDelete
  14. The only thing those numbers prove is that
Republicans watch Fox News as usual,CNN
does need to focus on the facts. One thing
that CNN needs to really do is to quit leaving
things out. Take for instance the economy.
One huge reason why the economy is not
rebounding as quickly is due to the fact
that we have not had any economic growth
in America in 10 years. Yet that is not true
for Asia, the EU or Africa. The financial crisis
only sped up the collapse. In the 21st century
your economy can't stand still. One other
thing : if CNN keeps saying that people
are tired in the partisan bickering why is
this the way they approach their political
coverage. Now is the time for someone to
come up with a different way to cover
politics.CNN will always make money no
matter what their ratings are in the US.
CNN is a global brand.I do it is hard to
watch Ali and Rick. I think FNC is the
big winner If you look at Beck's numbers
since the new lineup. Prior to the Haiti
quake HLN was also starting to top CNN
    in the day demo.

    ReplyDelete
  15. @1:24AM: Isn't that true. I thought the very same thing about Rick Sanchez. He's an idiot and yes, so was Ted Baxter on Mary Tyler Moore! Isn't it amazing how people think alike. I watched him today and when he "tossed" to Wolf, Wolf looked as though he was ready to "wolf him down for dinner!"
And he kept saying "You don't want to be on my list"....like this was the real challenge of the day...and this idiot gets more air time.
Ali is better and does have financial knowledge but he doesn't make a good anchor.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I don't understand why the dayside changes
were made. Anchoring is a gift and neither
Rick Sanchez or Ali Velshi should be given
2 hours of air time.I don't get what CNN is
trying to do for 4 hours.

    ReplyDelete
  17. According to AC360, they are leaving AC in Haiti another week.
My guess is he'd rather be there than in the studio.
There was a promo right after the show that said AC would be speaking with Campbell Brown about
    "the stimulus," next week.
If I had to speak to Campbell about anything, I'd rather be in Haiti too, even with the after shocks.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Now with the dayside moves that CNN
has made. The weekend anchors are
way better that Velsi & Sanchez. CNN
    looks completely ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  19. The direction that CNN is heading in can not
be a good thing.CNN just does not seem to
be focused right now.I am moving more in
the direction of HLN except for 360 at night.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I have to agree about the weekend anchors. They are much better than the day time anchors during the week. Don Lemon, TJ, and Fredricka are far superior than Sanchez and Velchi and it is a shame CNN doesn't realize this.
