Wow that is pretty bad. How about more
ReplyDeletereports like the one tonight from Amber
Lyon. That is what will save CNN.I would
much rather see people and journalists
file reports of that fashion during the
day each hour on CNN. Let's be honest
here, Mariana Van Zeller did this as a
story for Vanguard on Current. Why not
just hire Laura Ling and the team from
Vanguard ?
Seems like LKL is getting some pretty big names this week so his show will score higher.

I agree about Larry King. Lyon is a part of the
ReplyDeletebackpacks. Lyon shoots,writes,produces and
edits her own original material.Anderson
Cooper used to do this at ABC.It is what is
taught in all of the journalism schools. I have
no faith that Jon Klein understands. The man
is trying to sell us Ali Velshi & Rick Sanchez
as news anchors for 4 hours and pundit
polozza.It would be great if we could get
raw journalism for a couple of hours on
CNN. Back in the day Ted Turner would have
already done this,CNN has some of the best
journalists on the planet and there are
dozens of modern day journalists who
would love to do original reports for CNN.
Maybe CNN should launch a pilot program
offering from 500-1,000 bucks for the
freelancers. Lyon's have a great piece on
Vimeo on the Israeli settlements. This
would give CNN blockbuster demos and
likely increase their ratings because
there is an appetite for this .
Maybe Amber & her team can be CNN's

top rated show on CNN last night. This
story is one of the most popular on
CNN.com.CNN will never beat FNC or
MSNBC by going heavy in politics.
I'm finding the biggest difference between Fox News and CNN isn't only their ratings.
ReplyDeleteToday, for instance, Bill Clinton was hospitalized. Yes, this is a big story because he was a former, well liked, if you were a liberal, President. But he was also a polarizing figure, like his wife.
Fox had his hospitalization on the bottom scroll in capital letters but continued regular programming.
CNN devoted every single solitary minute to this new NEWS. And this is exactly what they do with all New news.... every minute, no matter what the issue it's 24/7. The only time this is necessary is IF, someone dies, God forbid or there's another 9/11! Everything should not be around the clock every show, every minute. Not only is it boring, it is annoying and over done!
The Winter Olympics start today. The
ReplyDeletenext 2 weeks will be rough. Roger Ailes
admits he is just in it for the ratings.
CNN has a tradition to uphold.I really
do wish that CNN would get rid of the
graphics that cover about a quarter of
the television. There are way too many
times when the graphics cover too much
of the video.It is way too much going on
and it makes me wonder what all the
mess is blocking me from seeing, a good
portion of the video. A cooler type of news
show like Nightline could be CNN;'s
answer for the 8 pm hour.I would also
like for them to go with an all female
anchor team from 3-5. Have a fast paced
news show with 3 or 4 rotating female
anchors from all of the CNN properties.
Let the show gather news from various
sources for a diverse range of topics.
But please not version of the View. I
am talking about a real news show.
Maybe it is just me but CNN seems to
think of women as sidekicks and not
serious news people. Women are the
majority population with 52 % and
there are now more women on college
campuses. Yes women do consume
news. Can you say "target women".
Sadly, I think the bosses think the
future is in middle aged men.

ReplyDeleteSuxanne Malveaux seems to be coming into her own and does a wonderful job as an anchor. She has a lot of poise and knowledge and is far more alert and interesting than Campbell Brown.

ReplyDeleteCNN was pretty much blown out o the waters
as people went to Fox for the breaking news.
Rick Sanchez can't do breaking news with tweets
on the screen and things were not any better at
night.CNN has to find a way to improve it's
numbers at noon running tup to prime time to
help the numbers overall. The earlier people
turn from your channel the harder it is to get
them to come back latter.
If you are a one note channel, Bill Clinton, Bill Clinton, Bill Clinton, Haiti, Haiti, Haiti, Snowstorm, Snowstorm, Snowstorm, no one is interested in anyones show.
ReplyDeleteFox has learned to integrate the news and not devote all of its energy, resources and attention on the flavor of the day or the month and they don't cater to or favor particular anchors, except if they bring in big ratings like Bill O.
You have to hand it to them even if you disagree with their ideology. The only "star," is Roger Ailes, himself.

too many of them who say they will only turn
to FNC just to help the channel bury CNN.
Nothing will make them watch CNN perioud.
Guess what? I have conservative leanings and I watch CNN, all the time.
ReplyDeleteI rarely watch Fox, but when I do, I've noticed the difference in programming. It just jumps out at you.
TVNewser is reporting that Fox News is sending MSNBC a bouquet of Roses for Valentines Day. How thoughtful....and nothing for CNN, not even a stick pin??
ReplyDeleteIf MSNBC is beating CNN currently, and looks that way from TVNewser, their interview with some talking head, who claims, "Smater people need to be having more kids," is the only way CNN can emerge a winner and overtake Fox News. This seems true, but they can start by getting rid of Jon Klein and using some of their anchor talent from the weekends and put them in prime.
