  1. It's funny but sadly it is true. Many have spoken
about Current TV about a week ago The Daily
Beast had a great article on the network and
mention that it won the Peabody 2010 award
& Television Arts 2010 award. That means CNN
and everyone else knows about Vanguard.
Apparently Current has order 16 episodes of
Vanguard and the production costs for each
episode is some 300-400 thousand dollars,
The head of Current had an interesting take
on CNN,MSNBC & FNC. They all look alike
and are soundbite oriented and not looking
in depth with investigative long form stories.
I agree 100 %.I also agree with Brian Williams
had to say on TVN. The networks need to
be more responsible when it come to the
people they hire and give shows to on
their networks. People have to start asking
hard questions to the people who run the
cable news networks and make sure they
are held responsible and kept honest.
Viewers are paying for cable news and
    not getting it.

  2. I am guessing CNN will be making changes
in 2011. I noticed a new promo today. I must
say I am wondering which show gets the
makeover or canceled first. Will it be American
Morning, John King USA or Parker Sptizer ? Or
will there just be a reshuffling of the schedule?
    Stay tuned.

  3. CNN is trying something different tonight.
They are doing a doc on Chandra Levy and
the News Room is coming on at 10:30 pm.
I'm not thrilled that the doc is on Chandra
Levy. 9/11 was story that forced cable news
to stop covering the Levy story and it is not
considered to be one of the better moments
    in cable news.

A couple of days last week they had Tony
Harris come on with Kyra and do a sports
segment. I like the idea but I want more.
Can't they devote 10-15 mins to a sports
segment. Give me the highlights CNN.I
never understood the time restraints on
cable news. The News Room is on for 2
hrs and they could not show highlights
    from the Rangers Yankees game.

  4. 360 likes to urge viewers to dvr the show.
Well I used to but now I am one of those
who dvr Rachel Maddow. I will not record
360 as long as it has panels and pundits.
If you want people to dvr a show, make it
worth the while and considering it is younger
people with dvrs why would you think they
would record a show with pundits.

  5. As long as AC keeps on reporting the news with passion and depth, Jon will like him. The minute he becomes an "entertainment personality," he will rip him to shreds.
Jon recognizes talent and he doesn't like it when people "reinvent themselves" just because they "feel like it."
He's already said to AC, "Didn't you host The Mole?"
Now that AC has credibility he's playing with fire, interviewing celebs and letting his passion for the real news, fall by the wayside.

  6. Only CNN. The network is falling apart
Mon-Fri and CNN is messing around
with the weekends. All I can say is CNN
had better have extensive coverage of
the Stewart rally. Anything is better than
Ballot Bowl. It is the midterms CNN. Get
    a grip.

  7. Many thanks for showing the highlites of Jon Stewart with LK.
I missed it because I started not watching CNN on a regular basis...like most of America it seems.
Heed what Jon Stewart says about FOX NEWS. Sometimes when I bring up Fox, commenters here, are displeased, but he's right. Take lessons from the opposition. They have learned how to market themselves as a "political and NEWSWORTHY," sorry Jon, organization.
Jon may not like them. But he respects Fox, and he GIVES the reasons why.
Start watching them folks. Listen and you will learn. Actually I should be telling that to the management at CNN, but it wouldn't help.

  8. Until CNN gets over the left vs right mentality
they will never make a comeback. JS is right.
It's getting old and is just annoying and not
worth watching. First order of business needs
to be let's get rid of the partisans. Big media
needs to quit trying to control what you see
and think and right out misinforming viewers.
Partisans come on and say things that are not
true and the are given a free pass. Partisans
serve no purpose in news.CNN is viewed as
part of the problem for turning the channel
over to pundits and they are paying the
    price for disrespecting their viewers.CNN
is too afraid to say no to the pundits.

    ReplyDelete
  9. The best thing for CNN would be to become
the worlds largest source for news & information.
Become the first cable news channel to that is
pundit free and watch your ratings soar. All they
have to do is to adequately use their resources.
CNN needs to remember the Apple motto :
Think different.CNN forgot it's brand and that
is why they are in trouble. Ideology won't save
CNN because that is not why people turn to
CNN. They definitely need to be live more and
    stop running too many repeats.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Lets hope CNN listens to the wisdom of Jon
Stewart. 5 years ago he told CNN what they
needed to do and they ignored him. Bad
choice. Cable news has become a joke and
Jon just points out how absurd the news has
become and it a absolute fake with the notion
we are divided and are ideologues That is what
the Rally To Restore Sanity is all about. It is
a swift kick in the butt to cable news. Stewart
has credibility that CNN can only dream about.
One of my favorite people on CNN is Fareed
Zakaria, he keeps it real. What happened
to him having an expanded role on CNN ?

  11. Will Dr Gupta be heading to Haiti in wake
of the cholera outbreak. It has now reached
the capitol city. This story is bigger. I would
like for CNN to bring us international news and
I mean extensively. China, India, Africa,
Europe, South America and even Canada.
We need to know plenty of news form all
over the world. The rest of the world knows
about us but if you watch our news you will
not get it. Thank goodness for the internet.

    ReplyDelete
  12. @anonymous 1:46, Dr. Gupta tweeted this morning that he is on his way to Haiti today to report of the cholera outbreak.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I think the last show people should see on
the weekends unless there is breaking news
is Video Rewind. Josh Levs always has a story
behind each video. Give people a break from
all o the noise and blah blah blah. One of the
trends on Twitter is What Muslims Wear.
So while the tv news people are all hyping
the story the digital generation sees it
totally different and takes a satirical view,
guess it is the influence of Jon Stewart.
Besides didn't the 9/11 culprits dress like
the rest of us so they would blend in.
CNN still needs to have Don Lemon on
live for 1 hour . How about having him
come on at 9 instead of LKL reruns.

    ReplyDelete
  14. CNN please give Katie Linendoll & Mario
Armstrong their own tech show. I miss
the tech show that used to air on Sunday.
Heck maybe that can be a prime time show.
    Think 18-49 yr olds CNN.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Don Lemon should have his own show.
Soledad O'Brien should have her own show.
Miles O'Brien should never have been fired. Think of all the scientific knowledge he could have brought forth during the BP debate!
The morning show with Kira and John must be changed. There's no chemistry between the two of them, and John King should be given his show back on SOTU.
Candy could co-anchor if possible but she is not half as good as John was, when he was in his element.
Give Wolf back his 3 hours....these are all the things that have contributed to CNN's failure.
USE YOUR TALENT WISELY. Heed the words of Jon Stewart.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Anon 11:27 you are so right, CNN is not using
it's talent wisely. Pundits are exactly why AM is
now 4th. They are not on HLN and Morning Joe
uses reporters and analysts. MJ gets that folks
have tired of the back and forth between the
left and right and goes out of it's way to break
the norm.Do the people who run CNN understand
that the pundits are helping destroy CNN.MJ is
a much smarter show. They are taking about
fresh news in the papers and web and cover
a wide spectrum of topics.MJ has authors,
entertainers, etc and Joe is not having the
circus that viewers are sick and tired of
and MJ is growing and AM is fading away.
I think Jon Stewart's message is aimed
smack dead at CNN management. You are
running the network into the ground with
poor decisions.I am not huge on politics
so I go to the Today Show or GMA when
you gets real heavy on politics. Even this
    morning Huey Lewis is complimenting
Joe for pushing back against the discourse
that is all to familiar on CNN.At least Joe
is bucking the tired formulas that CNN
can't seem to let go of and they are
    tanking as a result.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Somehow I don't think Don Lemon & Soledad
O'brien will ever have shows in prime time
on CNN. They were passed over in favor of
Eliot Spitzer and Piers Morgan.CNN made a
dumb decision to go with 3 whites males in
prime time and not have a solo female with
her own show with her name included in the
title. That sends a bad message. It is 2011
and CNN management think it is the 50's.
There are so many people boycotting CNN
as a result and won' come back.

Don't hold your breath for Don Lemon, TJ
    Holmes, Soledad O'brien, Fredericka Whitfield,
Suzanne Malveaux and others to have their
own show on CNN in prime time. CNN is
    against that idea.

    ReplyDelete
  18. CNN would be wise to provide Americans with
tons of international news. No other news
organization in the US has the resources and
have cut back on international news coverage.
Unless there is a disaster or big story. That is
a real shame. Just yesterday on GPS Zakaria
had a very interesting stat. The are 8b people
in the world and only 800m live in the West.
That means the world is a very different place
and we need to know about it and see it.
I think a lot of times the media portrays other
nations around the world negatively. It is
essential for Americans to know about China,
India & Africa because their populations
have billions and technology and the global
economy is making the world a smaller
place. Walmart is going wide in Africa
because the continent has passed India
when it comes to people earning $ 20,000
You can go on You Tube daily and find
news from all around the world. Yet you
can't find it on cable news and you have
to asking why the ratings are tanking.
In 24 hrs you don't get any news but talk.
People will no longer put up with the
crap on CNN, they have the internet
as an alternative and can avoid the talking
heads. If CNN does move John King maybe
a 7 pm international news show would
    be a great replacement.

    ReplyDelete
  19. CNN will look really stupid come Nov 2.
The Washington Post has a great tea
party story. CNN got punked. The people
CNN are calling tea party are connected
political types and not new voters or
bringing new people into the process.
Yet again the media focuses on the
polarizers who scream the loudest but
never really find out the truth.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Later this week when the October ratings are
final there are some things that will be clear.
Parker Spitzer will have some of the lowest
ratings for the 8 pm hour in CNN history and
American Morning will have new lows. CNN
will have some of their worst prime time
ratings and the dayside numbers will be
down as well. It is going to be ugly. Stewart
is right about CNN and that is why I am
watching MSNBC on election night. The CNN
bosses will no longer to keep their heads
buried in the sand. They need to really
listen to Jon Stewart and change their
course with Parker Spitzer & Piers Morgan.
CNN is going from bad to worst.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I hope Piers Morgan fails big time.
And here's how it could work.
Do you actually think someone like Jon Stewart would make an appearance on his show? I think not.
If all the regular personalites that love Larry, don't show, that will make Piers look bad. If he can't book talent, he fails.
If and when he fails, CNN will have to make the effort to find someone with a very distinct nature, an American, to carry the show.
The old saying, failure makes us stronger, may just work.

    ReplyDelete
  22. CNN blew it, It has a women problem.
The Eliot Spitzer promos are horrible.
One portrays him as a crusader as if we
don't know the full story and one promo
he actually sticks out his tongue and does
a lip lick that makes you go yuck.We should
not be surprised that Parker Spitzer is a
failure and the same thing is going to happen
with Piers Morgan. They guy was so unethical
he was fired by a British tabloid. Besides Piers
Morgan is a major league jerk.

    ReplyDelete
  23. CNN is totally responsible for the breakdown
of cable news. CNN invented left vs right with
Crossfire and tried to bring it back via Parker
Spitzer and it is a failure.CNN is not reporting
facts but repeating the script provided to them
by operatives. The language is exactly the same.
So that means CNN does not independently write
it's news they just copy and repeat the scripts
    provided by partisans.CNN management is
afraid to do anything Jon Stewart says. Deep
down inside they know he is right. Stewart
keeps trying to send CNN a message and it
    keeps getting lost in translation.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 360's ratings won't improve by leading with
made up stories. Christine O'Donnell is a lead
story because she's complaining about a so
called double standard. I really don't get 360
or CNN these days. The content is lacking and
    is not that good.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well everyone blamed David Doss for 360's lack of content, but last week's content was terrible and this week it appears the pundits are back and now we have a new segment "Dirty Politics." That's innovative. What other kind of politics were they discussing for the last couple of months?
And they're bringing back unsolved crimes, that have been out of the limelite from years past. Why?
Last week on the morning show, which is not getting much promotion lately, John Roberts asked Kira a question and she barely answered him. Are these two still feuding or what?
360 should be focusing on Haiti and Dr Gupta and the cholera epidemic and it should be leading with this story as well. No one there knows what to focus on and that includes their anchor.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Shepard Smith from Fox, appeared on The View and was asked why so much focus was on Christine O'Donnell when she clearly isn't at all qualified and is claiming sexism by the media because she is a conservative female candidate.
Smith's reply was the she sadly, "makes good television."
If this is the criteria for content, than CNN has paraded enough candidates who are crazy and conservative, to last until 2012. With CNN, the crazier you are, the more prominent you become.
Is there no end to their interest in hype?

    ReplyDelete
  27. It is hard to take CNN seriously these days.
Only crazies, partisans and pundits are on
the network. Just yesterday Google announced
that it is donating 5 million dollars for news
innovations.Google realizes there is a void and
is doing something about it. Can somebody tell
360 investigative reporting does not involve the
pundits. You are suppose to discover something.
It is ridiculous for CNN to think pundits are a
ratings fix.CNN will not be satisfied until all of
their viewers have gone. They are well on their
    way to that goal.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Does anyone get the feeling that Tony Harris
& Kyra Phillips might become the new AM team.
It seems like they are trying segments with them
together and other segments with them solo.
Does that mean the AM show can be coming out
of ATL. Just some observations on my part but I
don't think these segments are suddenly appearing
for no reason. Even the segments with Kyra &
Stephanie Elam seem to be expanding. When it
comes to having science reportters. I have been
noticing Gary Tuchman is doing the Cutting
Edge. Also, lets not forget the weather team.
Rob Marciano, Reynolds Wolf and Chad Meyers.

    ReplyDelete
  29. CNN is so clueless. All day long they have been
asking why is President Obama going on the
Daily Show ? This is coming from a network
who gave shows to Eliot Spitaer & Piers Morgan.
Shouldn't they be asking about their own hiring
of people who have zero credibility. CNN you
have no credibility and viewers go to Jon Stewart
because he is more news savvy than CNN, FNC
& MSNBC combined.By the way TV Newser has
a great item on Donna Brazille. Even she says
it is time for the pundits to go.
