  1. Best advice for CNN, restore sanity and have
    standards ,be intelligent and insightful
not hateful and angry. Only have the pundits on
TSR,SOU and JK, USA. Politics is not everything.
Not all Americans are angry and anti government.
The silent majority just is not interested in having
our faces on television. We now cable news is fake
    and fact free.

  2. Have you guys noticed some new 360 promos.
Maybe next year Charlie Moore has plans to
dramatically change the show. It seems to be
highlighting Anderson's travels to bring us the
news. Cool stuff. I have noticed 2 so far. When
Anderson says " if you wait for the story to come
to you ,you miss it ." Not sure if it is word for
word, both have the theme he lives in NY and
commutes around the world to get the news.
CNN needs to be really careful about running
too many promos for Parker Spitzer. You don't
want them to become the faces of CNN.

  3. There is absolutely NO reason to have election coverage on the weekends and bring in the BPT, although I will say that Jessica Yelin and Dana Bash did a very good job talking the talk during the day.
At nite, on a weekend, people have other things to do if your state isn't involved. These are only mid-term elections and CNN is hyping the hype.
Two of the most intersting runs will be Delaware and Nevada. Harry Reid does not deserve to win, but than neither does his opponent.
And Christine O'Donnell is climbing up in poll numbers, even though her knowledge of so many things is so limited. Never underestimate the stupidity of the American people when they go to the polls. O'Donnell is betting on it.

  4. I agree CNN needs to get a grip. It is the
midterms. I think they will understand
with their ratings for Nov 2nd.

I must say one of the best hires CNN
ever made is Fareed Zakaria. CNN has
got to find a way to feature him on the
network more. The man tells you things
you may not want to hear but is the truth.

It would be wonderful if Charlie Moore
did get 360 back to it's originality.

  5. @6:06pm: Regardless of AC's travel promos, he'll have to have time to network those celebs for his talk show. With that in mind he needs to stay put so to speak.
The CNN release had him coming in on Saturday, but he was a no show, so don't believe press releases and promos from CNN. Seeing is believing.
Joe Johns proved very capable as a substitute fill-in. He's another talent that is often underestimated and misused. His latest assignment is reading the 360 Bulletin. He's an investigative reporter. Give him something to investigate.

  6. Maureen Dowd who writes for the NYT, in her current OPED piece, Can the Dude Abide? is worth its weight in gold and should be read.
The "dude" part in reference to Jon Stewart calling a "sitting president," dude, while maintaining respect for the office itself.
This election is more about Obama then we all think. The promises he made were about him and this coming election is more a referendum on HIM, and what he "thinks" he accomplished, that most of us don't quite get, yet.
Ms Dowd has hit the mark in many ways. The President's aura is fading and that's why the craziness is prevailing. If the GOP wins on Tuesday, who's fault is it, really?? Just Asking, like she is.

  7. CNN needs to understand that ideological
politically based news is not the future nor
will it make your ratings increase.CNN tries
to define and divide more than 300 million
people on a daily basis. News & information
is the only way for CNN to increase their
ratings. Partisans and pundits have destroyed
cable news. This so called America where
people are ideologues, angry and don't talk
or interact with anyone different than they
are is not true. The only place this exists is
on cable news.CNN does not understand that
America is diverse and not divided. There
are millions of Americans who need news
and information. Global news is a plus
and knowing vital information about the
world in a global society is essential.
Would you believe that all across America
Mandarin Chinese is becoming a part of
a school's lesson plans and that the Chinese
government is paying for their teachers to
come to the US and teach grammar school
kids Mandarin.CNN has got to expose us
to countries and cultures around the world.
CNN seems to think that Americans of
    different races,religions,cultures and ages
never have anything in common and we
are all ideologues just like the pundits on
CNN.CNN needs to develop mass appeal
to rebuild it's brand. You can't grow your
audience by appealing to the extremists
that are out there. I say no more pundits
on CNN. Politics does not consume millions
of viewers lives on the daily basis. Where
is the news hour for Americans to catch
up with the news.CNN needs to clean up
the mess that the network has become.
Lead the way CNN and stop being a part
of the problem. Just like the Ipad puts the
world in my hands CNN needs to put the
world in my home via the remote and
give me the millions of stories that are
have yet to be reported on CNN that are
right here in the US and the world.

  8. Who's Maureen Dowd ? It is amazing to see
the media try and make Jon Stewart just like
them. JS is not. Yesterday's rally was an all
out assault on cable news and they don't
even know it. Thank goodness for JS. He has
the courage to take on cable news and I'm
betting that cable news is the biggest loser.
We are in the 21st century and Americans
can't even get the news. Stewart has been
trying to get CNN's attention since he first
appeared on Crossfire. He did the same
thing 5 years latter on Larry King and now
the rally yesterday.CNN needs a backbone.
Stand up for the news and not the noise.
How can cable news understand how diverse
America is ? Take a look at all of the cable
new channels in prime time. The suits don't
    have a clue.

  9. Please keep in mind that the people currently
running CNN gave Elliot Spitzer his own show.
Hired a Brit to replace Larry King & thought it
was a good idea to put Rick Sanchez on for 3
hours each day. Currently CNN is being ran by
a guy who gave Nancy Grace & Joy Behar shows.
CNN is not hiring journalists and replacing them
with pundits. We are watching a train wreck play
out on CNN each day. Unfortunately, for CNN
they will likely stick with Eliot Spitzer because
they don't want to admit they were wrong.
In the meantime, the ratings will tumble.
CNN needs to get Eliot Spitzer out of prime
time. I am sorry but the camera is not good
    to him.He looks creepy.

  10. One thing CNN could do instantly that would
help would be to drop the crawl and banners
when using graphics, maps and shooting video
off of the giant monitors. It is too messy. :10
of a banner is long enough when they air
video and packages. Don't obstruct the view.
Have a logo like network news while video and
packages are airing. One that animates as CNN
and CNN.com. They should change the crawl
to infrographics and the look of video or pics
with a sentence like CNN.com. Use the crawl
when going to and coming back from breaks.
Just drop the crawl. It is time for that to go
away. All day long CNN could give us fresh
material. Such as top Google searches, Top
stories from CNN. com. Science and tech
stories. Even have it look as though you
are receiving a news text.It is still a crawl
but you use it differently. Pretty much like
the Fun Facts segment with Tony Harris
    and the questions they ask.

  11. I just say Don Lemon conduct an interview about
how CNN conducts it's polls. The guy who gives
us the polling data says CNN polls 1 thousand
people randomly. However, he did not mention
if they are exclusively landline. If that is the case
those numbers might be way off.I am just thinking
this is not very scientific and the sampling is too
small and might not have equal numbers of
respondents.I think they might be using a flawed
formula. Millions of people only have cell phones.
I am really confused about the polling.

  12. Kudos to Jon Stewart for his enlightening insite and genuine caring for the citizens of our country and leading a rally that indeed marked the uplifting of sanity and COMPROMISE.
And kudos again to Jon Stewart for "dressing like an anchor," and not a hipster in search of who he wants to become.
@11:29AM: You better believe Jon Stewart knows exactly who Maureen Dowd is....she's even appeared on his show. Start educating yourself.

  13. CNN needs to use the news to connect with
viewers. Pundits do not represent the people
nor do they reflect America. Information sharing
is what makes Facebook so popular. Content is
the biggest weapon in the CNN arsenal. The
pundits represent a world that is not real and
is so last century.CNN needs to evolve into a
    modern day information monster.To transform
CNN the suits have go to go for the best and
the brightest. You certainly won't get the
    creativity,innovation and imagination from
pundits. Share the news form all around the
    world CNN.

  14. The mainstream media is in meltdown mode
over the Stewart rally. Too bad CNN didn't
get it about Crossfire. They morphed it into
Parker Spitzer. I think it is true that Jon Stewart
is taking on the news and social media is in
support of his efforts. After all it is the kids at
Reddit who really pushed for the sanity rally.
He also takes on the bloggers who are partisan
as well.I can tell you people are really agreeing
with what Jon Stewart said about cable news
you have the power with your remote. Don't
watch it and that is the best way to send a
message to CNN. Wait a minute. Isn't that
what viewers are trying to tell CNN ?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I hate to say it but this is true. Tonight I
    couldn't watch CNN's election preview. I
had to turn to Rachel Maddow. I am a
longtime CNN viewer, but was turned off
by what I saw. In watching Rachel, she
said something very interesting about who
will vote on Tuesday. The answer ,who knows.
It would be great if on Tuesday one of the
networks decide not to use their polls,
but to let the voters speak for themselves.
We don't know what will happen when it
comes to election day. There is no way in
the world to determine who will go to the
polls come Tuesday. It is time to sit back
and watch what really happens. Remember
2000. The polling was way off on that one.
Even some pollsters are admitting they are
not sure. Also, Rachel said 65 % of the vote
is already been cast in Nevada. That means
it is only 35 % remaining. This marks the
first time I won't be watching CNN on
election night.I didn't like the vibe and I
am not sure they are giving us the full
    picture.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Here's who will vote....old people.
I don't like using the word, but it is true, the over 70 crowd with 2 homes and a pension and social security who will vote Republican, even though they are taking their socialized "SS" and enjoying every penny of it.
Ok, Senior citizens. I feel better now because I'm one of them and yes, I will vote. But will I listen to CNN? Not if the results interfer with DWTS results.

  17. One of the best signs at the rally on Saturday
was a sign that said : thanks to CNN I know
what is on Twitter. In other words, CNN can tell
us what is on Twitter but not give us real news.
The Twitter dumb show should never have ever
even made it to air.CNN can't afford to continue
making mistakes.CNN is no longer focusing on
facts and intelligent conversion.CNN is a conduit
for the ignorance virus that is at pandemic status
in the media. Where is the actual reporting?

    ReplyDelete
  18. CNN has too many pundits and they are
    talking over each other.

    ReplyDelete
  19. CNN has been heavily covering politics since
Saturday and the numbers are horrible.CNN
has to drop all of the pundits, Their prime
time ratings last night were just plain awful.
CNN can't afford to stick with Parker Spitzer
at 8. The show was 4th and way behind and
the talking heads did nothing to help 369.
Why in the world would CNN think pundits
and lots of them will get people to watch.
It would not surprise me one bit if CNN is
    4h again tonight.

  20. I don't mind the panel pundits on election nite, but what is most bothersome, is no matter who the moderator is, whether it be Wolf or AC, they allow them to "talk over one another." Someone has to tell them, that that's what a moderator does. He GUIDES the discussion and DIRECTS which person speaks, when.
AC and Wolf have to go back to moderator school or give the job back to Joe Johns who seemed quite able to handle the position well.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oddly enough, Eliot Spitzer, being a former politician and Governor of NY, held his own in panel discussions and knew the issues that were of most importance. He should be given credit for this.
Candy Crowley, on the other hand, who anchors SOTU every Sunday, sat almost entirely mute, during the election panel discussions. I wonder why. She's interviewed all the politicians on her show. Was it intimadation or what?
    Shyness does not become her.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Maybe if CNN would concentrate on how to
better use video and sound instead of talking
24/7 they would turn things around.CNN has
some problems. There are too many people
and the segments are way too long and you
lose interest pretty quick. CNN needs to be
    news, global news.A combo Discovery/Travel
& Vanguard. The 24/7 talk model is just boring.
CNN thinks and acts like old media and is
    increasingly making itself irrelevant.If I
can interact with people from all around
the world via computer, why would i want
to watch hours of people just talking, TV
is about video and sound that matters not
opinion. The pundits are over the hill. Time
    for them to retire.

    ReplyDelete
  23. The NYPost called Jon Stewart "Smug and clueless," the other day.
While I often give the Post some credit with most of their stories, because unlike alot of tabloids, they are true. This particular OPED piece really annoyed me.
The only smug ones, are the Reublicans, which is in fact the party of, NO and will have to change its tune, now that they have the majority in the House.
Jon Stewart's rally did confirm his theme, along with Colbert, and they did speak "truth to power,' and the only people who are "clueless," is our legislative body and the media outlets, like CNN, who report on their total inability to get anything done.
"Smug" would describe CNN's countless pundits who are paid to babble and act as though they were in really in touch, not Jon Stewart, who is in fact, really in touch.

    ReplyDelete
  24. A commenter on ATA often says that politics is boring and doesn't matter. Well, on CNN it is boring and increasingly meaningless, but it DOES matter.
It matters who are elected officials are, but it's all in the presentation. Like the saying goes: Presentation is Everything. Even in Politics. If you insist on making it boring and having a whole bunch of meaningless pundits babble nite after nite, about mere speculation, your are increasing the narrative of BORING.
CNN must find a way to engage us and make us want to LIKE politics because it can be very uplifting and interesting, if it's presented to us in the right way....and that's not meant to be a political pun.
