  1. The NYTimes is reporting online that Katie Couric is very close to a deal with ABC and will make an official announcement likely tomorrow for the fall of 012.
The deal is supposedly a lucretive one and ALL the broadcast networks were involved in this courtship.
Katie is well liked and personable and a successful syndicated program, can bring in millions of dollars for both the host. sponsors, and network and are relatively cheap to produce.
Katie is looking for a 4PM slot in the absense of Oprah Winfrey.
In the meantime AC has a year to prove himself, but unlike Katie he still has three jobs to fill.

  2. Katie was not that popular, her people just want you to believe she was. CBS couldn't wait to get rid of her. Anderson will be fine.

  3. CNN is doing very little right these days.
    The news quiz/multiple choice answers
is one the best things on CNN right now.
The questions that are about the news
like most affordable cities are great. One
thing : instead of reading the answer how
about a news story revealing the answer.
In other words I have to watch to find out.
The package can run for a minute or less.
Don't have video than infograhics are your
best friend. Visualization is important. So
far that is the best way CNN is talking to
the viewer. Also, when they say take a
look or listen to video. Also, take for an
example the e-coli story. How about a
full screen graphic telling viewers what
ecoli is. Hello, after that how about Dr.
Gupta telling us 5 things we should know
about ecoli accompanied by words, video
and graphics. CNN has to start putting
more in the production. It would have
been cool if CNN had a cartoon or some
    animation explaining cloud. You could
have the little quotation clouds of the
comments of the people in the cartoon
like Dilbert or The Oatmeal and CNN
voices reading the quotations on the
screen. Is there a creative engine at CNN?
Toss the you have to do this , this or that
out of the window and challenge your
people to be involved in a news experience
that will help reshape CNN. I wonder if
all of the shows have the freedom to see
what they can come up with that is not
being done at the network. It seems like
all of the CNN shows are the same.

  4. Concentrate on content, story-telling and
in depth reports.CNN needs to get back into
the news business. Before Jon Klein CNN did
have shows from CNN I on Sunday. I am still
waiting for a tech/digital age show on CNN.
Oh yeah, that's right Jon Klein canceled that
too. CNN dropped the ball on the Digital Age.
One reporter in Silicon Valley. By the way, I
have noticed that Katie is now on with TJ in
    the mornings.

  5. Nate Silver showed how bad CNN's political
reporting is . His analysis in the NYT shows
CNN's problems with facts and putting things
into context with unemployment and elections.
If it is on CNN, you know it is not true. I agree
about Anderson. He will be just fine. He and
    Katie likely draw different viewers.

  6. Where are Josh Levs and Kyra Phillips.
Dayside I do like Suzanne , Brooke &
Randi but CNN has to make anchor
changes for AM. I say CNN needs to
actually increase their story count Why
is the uptick in unemployment a shocker.
Economists have said this was coming
because of state & local government
layoffs. I saw this on Bloomberg myself.
I don't think CNN has good business news.

  7. TVnewser is reporting that Ali Velshi will be hosting a new show at 5AM, leading into American Morning which he will continue to co-host. Thoughts?

  8. While Anderson and Katie may draw different viewers, it is Katie who will more than likely draw the Oprah crowd.
While Katie may not have been that likeable to work with, she has a huge following.
Yes, she came in last in prime, but she has 6 million plus viewers already and waiting.
All prime broadcasters were lined up courting her. That should tell you something and she turned CNN down cold.
Smart gal and even smarter was her one interview with Palin which will always be a classic.

  9. Is Fox News for real?
TVN is reporting that in a still shot, they showed Tina Fey as Palin for a serious news segment.
Even they can't tell the difference anymore.
    Roger Ailes where are you?
    Someone needs to be fired.

  10. Ali Velchi gets a promotion from CNN??
He now is going to be on at 5 in the morning. No one wants to watch him now.
It's just like CNN to actually promote someone no one likes or watches and then puts him on first thing in the morning to start the day.
Can't blame Jon Klein for this one.

  11. Well looks like Chris Wallace did us all a favor and got another classic from Palin.
Every time I hear the name Sarah, I think of the children's book, "Sarah, Plain and Tall."
Now I can only add, "Sarah: Plain, Tall, and Stupid.
