TJ Holmes Leaving CNN

According to the Maynard Institute:
T.J. Holmes, who anchors the weekend edition of "CNN Newsroom" on Saturday and Sunday mornings, told colleagues on Sunday that he is leaving the network at the end of the year for another job. He did not disclose the new position. Holmes joined CNN in October 2006.

TVNewser published CNN's memo to staff:

Please join me in congratulating TJ Holmes who will be leaving the company at the end of the year to pursue other opportunities. Since 2006, we’ve had pleasure to work alongside him as he anchored CNN Newsroom and reported stories from throughout the world. We wish him well in his future endeavors.

  1. Thanks for nothing CNN. I really like TJ.
I wish he was not leaving.

  2. Of course TJ is leaving.
Why hang around on a sinking ship that promotes only certain people and leaves the rest dangling.
I don't blame him one bit.

  3. How long before we hear that he will be with
the new CBS Morning Show.. Tj & Betty were
the perfect team. They just might be the next
CBS weekend morning team. They say he has
    another gig already.

  4. The worst thing to be at CNN these days is a
real journalist with anchoring skills. You are
denied a promotion to the likes of Eliot Spitzer,
Piers Morgan and Erin Burnett. Pundits run the
joint and you are not permitted to practice real
    journalism. CNN= Certainly Not News.

  5. He'd be great on a network morning show. I liked him on CNN's weekday morning show, & told CNN so -- good looking, genial, nice soothing voice to wake up to.

I sent CNN an e-mail, thanking them for the best early morning program since the O'Brien twins left.

They promptly replaced him with the bald guy & 2 cackling women. Gee, thanks....

  6. No ! TJ is one of the few I watch on CNN ..
    Anderson, Wolf, Don, Suzanne, Fredericka,
Reynolds and Tj are the ones I watch on
CNN. Why can't CNN drop Piers Morgan and
Erin Burnett ? CNN keeps letting some of
their best people go. TJ has a bright future
at CBS,ABC or NBC, whichever one he is
    headed to.

  7. CNN needs to go for Toure as his successor.
Bring in a group of diverse journalists to
keep it a news show and to handle breaking
news.CNN is going to feel the pressure here.

You have mentioned Max & Jason formerly
at Current. Alina Cho could be the 1 female.
Find 1 other female. It came out this week
that the ensemble shows that have replaced
shop opera are doing better. Whether it is
The Chew or The Talk. I am hoping that CNN
will eventually hire Aisha Tyler for a prime
time gig. Toure could also appear on 360 &
    other CNN shows.

  8. Toure was originally on 360. It would be great
but CNN management is not that smart. At some
point in 2012 CNN will have to drop PMT & Erin.
Before too long Young Turks will top Outfront.
CNN is giving time to Donald Trump for nothing.

  9. Good luck Tj, you have a bright future.

Don't mean to go off topic but there is a huge
breaking news story strangely connected to HBO.
Time Warner owns CNN and HBO. Jeff Bewkes who
now runs TW was in charge of HBO when they aired
a very controversial documentary on Mumia Abu
Jamal. He is a former Black Panther accused of
murdering a white police officer. Jamal has been
on death row for more than 30 years. Now the
prosecutors no longer want the death penalty.
IMHO CNN needs to be more like HBO. I hope
360 does this story. CNN could run the doc.

  10. Thank you for being respectful in your comments.
Mediaite is actually posting racists slurs on T.J. As
far as I am concerned they need to watch their
website closer before talking about the networks.
I won't visit that website again.

    VERY WELL SAID!!!

  12. I AM VERY DISSAPOINTED THAT TJ HOLMES IS LEAVING CNN. I REALLY HOPE HE IS MOVING ON TO SOMETHING BETTER. CNN IS GETTING BORING. I ONCE WOULD NOT WATCH ANY OTHER NEWS PROGRAM. I'VE EVEN BEEN FORCED TO WATCH FOX NOW AND THEN! AS SOMEONE SAID, GET RID OF PIERS MORGAN AND ERIN BURNETT AMONG OTHERS. OTHER THAN TJ, THE ONLY OTHER INTERESTING PERSON ON CNN IS RASHEED.
I LIKED ELLIOT SPITZER. CNN GET SOME PEOPLE WITH SUBSTANCE. AND WHO TELLLS THE TRUTH. WATCH SOME OF THE OVERSEAS STATIONS FOR INSTRUCTION ON HOW TO REPORT.

  13. Man I get up early on the weekends just to watch TJ Holmes. He is so down to earth, smart and don't forget handsome. I'm sure he has a bright future just for those things alone. Man I'm mad ! Good luck!
