Riding out the Storm

CNN became part of the story last night, as a tornado touched down right outside the CNN Center in Atlanta. Erica Hill covered from New York for a short time, and then the International feed was picked up. (One of the staffers covering the story in Atlanta was Cal Perry, who must have recently arrived from Baghdad... welcome to the peace and quiet, Cal!)

Remarkably, very few people were injured, despite the large number of people in the vicinity at the time due to the basketball games going on at the time.

(Today they are broadcasting NewsRoom from the International studio due to damage to the building.)

Dr. Sanjay Gupta had an interesting piece on American Morning this week, about getting your brain in better shape. The chatter between Kiran Chetry and John Roberts before and after was also priceless:

David Mattingly had a "Planet in Peril" piece on during the second hour of AC360 a few days ago. It could just as easily been a "Keeping Them Honest" piece, since it's about the CDC keeping unflattering documents quiet:

There is going to be a special AC360 on Wednesday night to mark the fifth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. This is the latest commercial (guess which is my favorite part?):

Since the commercial aired yesterday, they have edited a slightly different version, substituting different clips for the segments showing Michael Ware and Gary Tuchman:

Where in the World...?
On Sunday, Rick Sanchez was in Atlanta, hosting "NewsRoom." Dana Bash was in DC. Monday, Candy Crowley was in Jackson, Mississippi with the Obama campaign; Suzanne Malveaux was in Scranton, Pennsylvania with the Clinton campaign; and Dana Bash was in St. Louis, Missouri with the McCain campaign. John King hosted "Larry King Live" from DC.

Tuesday, Candy was in Chicago; Suzanne started the day in Scranton and then was later in Philadelphia; Wolf Blitzer and Dana were both in NYC; John King again hosted LKL but from NYC; and Jeffrey Toobin was on AC360 via broadband from Maui, earning him a great deal of raw jealousy from the other commentators.

Wednesday, Dana was in Exeter, New Hampshire; Suzanne was in DC. Thursday, John Roberts, Candy, and Dana were all in DC. Friday, Dana was in Springfield, Pennsylvania; Suzanne was in Pittsburgh.

Have fun this weekend!
