CNN213,600
MSNBC212,600
HLN223,800

FOX remains on top of the Adults 25 - 54 demographic winning every prime time hour all five days last week. CNN did worse than they have been (yes, for those of you who may have doubted that was possible- it is.) They remained in fourth place during the 8PM hour, dropped to third place at 9PM, and just barely managed a third place finish at 10PM.

HLN faired much better overall: second place at 8PM; fourth place at 9PM; and second place at 10PM. Having a Lou Dobbs repeat on at 9PM has not helped HLN in the ratings. They lose between 40 - 80% of their lead in demographic audience at 9PM.

MSNBC had an OK week. At 8PM, they came in third; during the 9PM they grabbed second place; and at 10PM they ended up in fourth.

The 10PM hour this week really looked a race for the bottom spot. Looking at the day to day rankings, it wasn't obvious which network was going to come out ahead in the average. HLN came in second twice, third twice, and fourth once- that put them in second place in the average. CNN found themselves in fourth place three times (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday)- the other two days they came in second -which is how they squeaked by with an average for the week in third place. MSNBC came in second place once, third place three times, and fourth place once, yet ends up in fourth place when the math is done.

  1. CNN really needs to re-invent itself. Those
numbers are pitiful.CNN needs to get a more
hip look and feel.I am really digging the new
look for the CBS Evening News. It has a 21st
century appeal.I firmly believe that there is
a backlash against CNN. They really made it
easy with the grade the president fiasco.

  2. One program I hope CNN gives time to is the
one with Roland Martin. At first it was really
bad but now it has a flow to it and is more
content oriented.CNN has a promo saying
Campbell is back on June 1st.It will be very
interesting to see if they keep the format or
will Roland get his own show perhaps on
    weekends.

  3. Whoa, those numbers are pretty bad.CNN must
realize that the world is very different now.The
network must come up with a new way to do the
news and cover politics. The internet is the great
equalizer, social media has changed everything.
CNN must use social media wisely and stop with
the focus on Obama is not keeping his promises.
The man has not been in office that long.It is
overkill and looks petty.CNN is just out of touch
with viewers.I get the feeling that CNN thinks
it is the 90's and some of the same players
matter. The world has changed and CNN needs
    a huge makeover.

  4. Lou Dobbs does not fit in on HLN.
    They should switch Showbiz and
    Dobbs.I think HLN's audience turns
to MSNBC and come back for Nancy
and Showbiz. Heck it might even help
Larry King and hour 2 of A360.

  5. It looks like this week will be worse. CNN just
does not get it. The latest dumb move. Putting
Dick Cheney on the same level as President
Obama. Nobody cares about Dick Dheney and
his daughter. To give Cheney's daughter the
opportunity to bash the president instead of
having a legitimate discussion about what
Obama said is wrong and bad journalism.
But then again this is the same network that
hires Bush administration cronies.I am starting
to think that Rupert Morduch has controlling
interest in CNN. The whole network is falling
apart and they keep playing the same old song.
CNN your ratings are going down for a reason.
It is one thing that I hear from people a lot,
and that is CNN seems to have disdain for
Obama because some idiot at the network
thinks by imitating FNC we can get viewers.
The country has moved on ,get the message
    CNN.Gringrich, Cheney and Bush administration
people are so last century. These people no
    longer matter.

  6. Of course CNN hates Obama. The man makes
their talent look stupid. The network can not
help itself because CNN is a part of the problem
that tries to divide people and make people dumb
by focusing on what is trivial and pointless.Once
they are 4th in the demo and 3rd in viewers they
will get it.I am not sure the viewers will return.
CNN played a role in creating the left vs right
viewpoint. That is why they do not have any ideas.

  7. This week on Current TV Conor Knighton's
we've got you covered segment featured the
    Newsweek interview with President Obama.

In the article Obama admits he does not
watch cable news. During the segment clips
aired of the lows that air on cable news and
Knighton had the perfect quip.If cable news
is not careful they will become just like the
newspapers. At some point somebody has to
to the news. Can you hear me now CNN ?
