Rick Sanchez reminds me a person who is so stupid, he doesn't realize he's that bad...and that might be why he always seems relatively happy.
And if 360 is going to use pretaped material for the rest of the week, I will NOT be watching.
This had to be one of the worst attempts at ignoring NOLA and why they were there....to talk about Sarah Palin????
Yes, Greta was speaking about Palin with Dena Perino, who happens to be really smart and good looking, but she WASN'T in NOLA PRETENDING to be interested in what was going on.
Cooper should have been in Pakistan with Sanjay Gupta and John Roberts could have reported nothing NEW from NOLA too.
This is why CNN deserves to be last. Their priorities are a little confused and they don't know what in heavens name to do with their talent!!

Things look really bad for CNN these days.
Have you guys seen the new promo for TSR.
It is pretty cool now if only it were true. That
is what TSR should be but it's not in sync with
what you see when you tune in for the show.

CNN please do more reports like Amber Lyon.
That is real/original story-telling. There is no
one in cable news with her style of reporting.
Take a hint CNN.

The smartest thing CNN could do would be to
drop Rick Sanchez like a bad habit. He comes
across as stupid and that is a problem for CNN.
I don't know what management is thinking. If
you have people who clearly demonstrate they
don't have any business anchoring on CNN why
do you give him 3 hours on your channel.360
did a retrospective on Katrina in the beginning
there is nothing wrong with that. They even had
a band playing live during the show.I don't care
about Greta. I don't watch FNC.

TV Newser has the ratings for yesterday.
There is no way CNN can continue with John
King, USA & Rick's List. Both of them had
demos that where so low if they go any lower
it would be a scratch.

@5:45pm....did you happen to see the ratings on 360? Was it because people didn't think AC was going to be there??? John Roberts got better ratings. IF PEOPLE WANT TO WATCH THE NEWS, they don't need Anderson Cooper to do INTROS of REPEATS.
GOMER PYLE got it right: Anderson Cooper WAS once good. Now he is as disabled as the channel he reports on and he doesn't seem to care, which is even worse.
And as for Amber Lyons, did we really need to have her do a repeat of Craigslist? Who cares or in more graphic terms who gives a s...?
Did CNN use her properly? NO Why wasn't she in NOLA?
COOPER belongs in Pakistan and Lyons could have done the intro for the retrospective on Katrina. Period.

That's because CNN made the dumb mistake
of not having any females in the lineup. If the
management team at CNN is impressed with
Rick Sanchez no wonder CNN is in big trouble.

Anonymous said...

I have a theory that CNN honchos are not impressed with Sanchez, but
they believe, that he is a draw for the Hispanic community. He's bilingual, but then so is Soledad O'Brien and she could run circles around him, up and down and sideways.

It does not matter what ethnicity you are.
Everyone knows when they see an idiot.

CNN needs to do real time news. Drop the call
and useless information chatter and give us all
of the news we can handle. Even Digg realizes
you have to do real time news. Too much talk
really slows things down and gets boring really
fast.CNN has so many problems.CNN get out
of doing politics 24/7 and try doing real news
and updated information advancing stories and
new stories that happen somewhere in the world.
Right now you can't even find out what is going
on and it is being replaced by distortion. Can
you even get 1 minute of news or do they
churn the same thing over and over again
only rotating talking heads. At least act like
you are a 24/7 news channel.

In a time when people want to connect with
the world and have an endless thirst for good
info CNN should be thriving. Guess what ,CNN
is not because they think they are more important
than the news. CNN more than anyone should
realize the importance of video and raw reporting.
I could go on Twitter right now and find dozens
of stories that are being ignored by CNN. This
is not rocket science and that tells you why old
media is dying. Whatever happened to full
screen video and the natural sound on video
or in depth reporting. Maybe if CNN actually
walked the walk and become an genuine
news source things would change.

Why did 360 lead with the Brownie interview.
The ratings are not good and I think that is
the reason. The numbers were down for all
of the cable news channels. Could this spell
trouble this fall. TV by the Numbers says
there are 1 million additional homes with
televisions now,With a brand new season
starting soon with the networks things will
get interesting. It is kinda weird what is
going on with MSNBC this week. I am wondering
if people are just tiring of FNC,MSNBC & CNN.
Something weird is going on with the ratings
this week.

Does anyone know if CNN has ever seen demos
this low at 7 & 8 pm? Were Campbell's ratings ever
that bad ? I really don't see how much longer CNN
can continue with John King. It would not surprise
me one bit if CNN suddenly announces they are
going with Spitzer at 7 because they clearly need
to develop some different ideas for the first 2 hrs
in primetime.CNN is dong the same thing over
and over again. They wait too late to fix anything.
CNN's got nothing, no ideas and no decent shows.
I find myself getting most of my news from the
web these days. I never thought management
would ever let CNN get this bad. Are they in
denial ? We also know what the problem is
at 8. Two words : Rick Sanchez.

Thank goodness Ac360 is live tonight. I think
this is the last week of August ratings and we
all know it is not going to be anything good
for CNN. July and August are not very serious
months with regards to ratings. Sometime after
Labor Day is when you can get a real picture
or where things stand for CNN. That said
there will have to be changes.I never thought
CNN should have gone with solo anchors during
the day. Something clearly needs to be done
about American Morning. It should be fast
paced as people are preparing to go to work,
school or getting kids to school. Save the
packages for 10 am or later. Both CNN and
MSNBC are getting creamed by HLN in the
demo in the morning. CNN has to re-invent
itself and that means thinking out of the
box and not copying the others.CNN never
was strong in prime time and I am not
sure it will get any better once Spitzer and
Piers Morgan are in the mix.

Anonymous said...

Do you believe American Morning was nominated for an Emmy? Why? Like you said it is so slowly paced you could fall back to sleep and it uses 360 repeats...
Also, according to a poster on ATA they don't believe if "we know it all, we should criticize management." They're the reason CNN still exists the way it is.

CNN needs to stop treating it's viewers like we
are idiots. Glenn Beck is a media personality,
so why are all of the networks covering his
rally. Beck is an entertainer. Is there anyone at
CNN who even knows what news is these days.
You have to do news that people connect with.

Anonymous said...

I agree CNN is poorly managed. Instead of getting
caught up in the dueling rallies in D.C. how about
running the MLK speech CNN and introduce it to
a new generation instead all of the silliness. People
need to really quit trying to rewrite history. I don't
know which is worse. The people who easily can
manipulate the media or the fact that the media
does not have any spine and permits itself to be
used I will be turning off cable news for the next
72 hours or longer.

Anonymous said...

Everyone at CNN clearly flunked history. What was
really the reason for the original March on Washington.
People were being denied their rights simply because
of the color of their skin. Fundamentalists were
opposed to the Civil Rights movement. Catholics,
Jews and other Christians backed the movement.
There is zero similarities.Go on YouTube for the
real story because cable news is yet again leaving
out the facts.

Anonymous said...

So let me get this straight.CNN is giving
extensive coverage to a Beck rally for
conservatives. How dumb is that, and we
have to wonder why CNN is in a ratings
downslide. Just look at the stories they
focus on over and over again. There is
no significance of the Beck rally.

Anonymous said...

Sadly, Glen Beck knows that CNN management
is not too bright. Beck got CNN to completely
ignore Dr. King on this day and cover a rally
and not even talk about the speech given 47
years ago today.

Anonymous said...

It is ironic that Glen Beck just a few years ago, was COMPLETELY ignored by CNN and had to have Anderson Cooper help him promote his first book. I still remember the clip of him saying to AC, "So how much do you think you'll be pulling down this year?" Meaning salary of course and look at how he jumped ship to become his own brand of idiot on FOX, and an idiot that has according to the lastest count, tens of thousands following him. Every book he writes is a best seller whether they make sense or not. He's the "male Palin." No wonder they were on the podium together today.
Neither one makes a bit of sense but come 2012 I bet the call will be to put them on the "ticket" together for the Presidency. This is ALL a reaction to those who didn't want a black man to be POTUS. It has become the "unwritten" code for unhappy white America....and I'm white.

I don't understand why CNN has not gotten the
message that viewers are tired of the silliness
and want some news.i really hope the Google
guys, Facebook, Oprah or somebody starts a
real news channel.
