OK..I did some counting. Starting with the 8PM slot, this is how it goes for CNN, in accordance to Fox, and not even counting, MSNBC,
500,000,400,000,300,000. That's an approximation of the differences in nightly viewership, or the lack of viewership for CNN.
Not good and a really big dip in Totals.
CNN is making all of the wrong moves. Come
September Jon Klein will complete his mission
of completely destroying CNN. Heads have got
to roll when it comes to management. If this
was going on at HBO, TNT, TBS , Cartoon or
Warner Bros/New Line changes would have
been made a long time ago.
How bad are things at CNN. It took a day
for CNN to get going on the East Point
story right in Georgia. MSNBC had the
pictures on yesterday with Contessa Brewer.
CNN's news machine has been dismantled
and it shows.
Memo to CNN : have a woman/women in
the prime time lineup. 3 males are not
going over too well. When the show you
canceled is doing better than what you
are currently airing a 8 that is not a good
sign at all.I think the numbers will be lower
this week.
Just today MSNBC announced a name for
their new 10 pm show set to air in 6 weeks.
CNN has absolutely nothing.CNN get use to
finishing 5th and it is your own fault.
Finally, 360 seems to be getting it's act
together. On Tues & Weds they seem to
be going with a serious 'Daily Show' news
program. Showing viewers the absurdity
that is out there. The interview with the
former FBI agent was priceless. Plus new
reports from Gary, Joe and Soledad and
adding more to the '360 Bulletin'. Kudos
to Team 360 for giving us a great show
last night. It seems as though 360 is trying
to find the right mix with a lot of information
coming at you. Let's hope they stick with
the new format they have been using for
the last 2 days. Quit starting the show with
pundits.
@12:48PM: You're kidding right??
I was bored to death and from the looks of AC's ratings, so were a lot of other people.
TVN says Max Kellerman is in tonight at 8.
That is interesting. Kellerman has not even
been on American Morning for some time.
Jon Stewart did it again. The case of why
cable news is a joke. It's the punditry and
it is wrong and hurts credibility. Instead of
using pundits to fill shows be different.360
is the only show that CNN has going for it
now.I am wondering what kind of show will
Kellerman do for the hour. He is a sports guy.
Come think of it CNN might want to offer a
different show for Mon-Fri just like the big
4. Perhaps Friday could be the sports and
pop culture show. Thursday could be the
Nightline type show. Wednesday could be
the women's show.Tuesday could be the
Daily Show type of program and Monday
be a web based news show.I am starting
to wonder if things are not going to well
with making the Spitzer show work.
Overall as a network CNN should try and become
the one source for content, content, content. If
if want find out something about anything, I can
just turn the channel to CNN. Every half hour it
is a new source of information. Keep it fresh &
current and act like you are a 24 hours news
channel. Fresh material and content. It can be
national news, international news. The latest
from websites on the internet, sports, science,
technology, music , art , you name it CNN is
the source for a wealth of information and
trending news that is always upgraded and
not repeated over and over again.
It will take some time for Anderson to get
his viewers back. I like the new 360. This
should have been done 6 months ago. The
joke is the congressman he interviewed is
Gomer Pyle. It was a classic media meltdown.
I like the new graphics and opening. I wonder
if they can have video in the screen Anderson
is standing next to.I will say when 360 is good
or bad . The last 3 days 360 has gone back to
it's original version. If they figure out what to
do for 7-10, CNN could make a huge comeback
but it won't come easy.
I see 360 is trying to get a magazine news show
format on Friday. It is a good move because it can
be used to give in depth coverage to events from
around the world along with some original reports.
It needs to have more of a Vanguard feel to it so
that it is hip and cool and takes you on a learning
journey. If CNN is looking for adding the young
up and comers when it comes to reporters they
can look right at the Vanguard correspondents
for Current and of course you already have all
of the wonderful journalists already at CNN.
I also noticed that the program was recorded
later because it had Obama talking about the
mosque. Maybe CNN could come up with one
version for Friday and another that could air
on the weekends that is not dated but uses
different material that CNN correspondents
covered that week. Throw in Time mags
Newsfeed and a music segment called the
Playlist. It would introduce viewers to the
music scene in NYC, Los Angeles, Portland,
Austin and even London and all around the
world and the music and videos that are
out there such as the Eminem & Rihanna
or Kanye West videos that everyone is talking
about.
AC360 got a total of 485 this past Friday nite. It was even lower for the 11PM hour. If AC and CNN are satisfied with this, even though Maddow and Olberman both doubled this number, it shows that both management and anchor, have little interest in maintaing what once was a relevant show.
Fridays should not be a nite devoted to reruns. News happens 24/7...even during the summer.
