We're Trying....

We're trying not to buy into the hype and the endless pimping of Piers Morgan but we did feel that we would be remiss in not reminding our readers that tonight is the night he debuts, interviewing Oprah. Mediaite had an interesting column on the pre-press and on Piers' background.
If you watch tonight we'd love to hear your first impressions of the hour.

I say the disgraced Gov. and the faux editor,on at the 8PM hour, have a better chance of making it than the British import.
No one trusts him, least of all those who trusted Larry, Anderson, Bill Maher or Jon Stewart.
This guy is so far beneath all of them, including the EX GOV,who could at least run a State, that it is immoral to waste an hour listening to his drivel.
Personally, I rather watch the shopping channel, and will.

This is a mistake for CNN. It is not even live,
so that should tell you something.360 is going
to take a hit from the first 2 hours of CNN prime
time.

Anderson has a following. I am not sure if
this will affect 360 all that much. I will tune
in for 360 but not the other two shows.CNN
needs to get back to being classy.

I tuned in for the last ten minutes of Piers and I have to say, he did ask Oprah probing questions about her wealth.
Oprah called Morgan's interviewing skills,"interesting."
Well put Oprah. Let's see just how interesting he proves to be in say 6 weeks?

Why is CNN putting so much hype into an
entertainment show ? Was there a need for
CNN to force their journalists to interview
or run clips for Piers Morgan. This is going
to be a problem for CNN. They will not get
viewers from Hannity, Maddow or Grace.
There really aren't that many viewers for
this show.CNN should have gone with a
Daily Show type program. Nobody knows
this guy and the relentless promotion by
CNN is not helping. If anything , you turn
the channel. The CNN meltdown continues.

Good grief CNN. Instead of running Piers Morgan
clips on American Morning, how about Jon Stewart,
Cobert & CMDR Kelly. That is exactly why CNN is
history and not worth watching.

MSNBC is making a huge push for those angry
CNN viewers and they will get them. Right about
now CNN has the early numbers for Piers Morgan
and it is going to be ugly.CNN seems to be incapable
of thinking about it's viewers. Not very smart.

I love it CNN is the Titanic. Check out the
Hollywood Reporter. CNN really overhyped
a man that is not that good. I don't feel
sorry for CNN. CNN has made two bad
decisions for prime time now they get
what is coming to them.THR is scathing.

Where is Josh Levs ? Please tell me that
Carol Costello is not replacing Tony Harris.

Oprah owned Piers Morgan. She controlled the
interview. Piers Morgan is out of his league. At
the end of the interview he asked Oprah how
did he do. I really hope CNN is not betting
the farm on Piers Morgan. It is taped and no
news. CNN better have a back up plan. The
promos were right out lies.

Guys like it or not Piers delivered go to TV by the
Numbers. Maybe Larry King is getting old or
people are sick of politics. It will be interesting to
see if this will last.It will be interesting to get the
full ratings for Monday.

Piers Morgan is no more hyped than Anderson Cooper was when Klein was there. Promotion is promotion.

I agree with @3:42. AC was just as hyped (and still is). If Piers can bring in more viewers, hopefully that will spill over to AC360, which in case anyone has missed, is not doing well in the ratings at all.

Larry King got over a million a few years back, almost every nite.
The difference in the two is major and striking.
Piers Morgan is a "flash in the pan," who gushes over every celebrity it seems that he interviews.
It would do him well to watch Matt Lauer who really gets people, like Dr Laura, to say things that they ordinarily wouldn't say. There is a skill to that, and Morgan has yet to learn this skill.
