These tornadoes are sure becoming more and
more common. It was interesting to see and hear
the sirens last night with Anderson. Good solid
reports from all of the correspondents.
Unbelievable. CNN is axing John King, USA and
keeping 4th place finisher Eliot Spitzer. The
problems are bigger at 8 & 9 for CNN. Too
stubborn to catch on about Eliot Spitzer and
Piers Morgan. Not a smart move at all, King's
ratings are better than Spitzer and he gets
canceled. No, it is not a perfect show but
management turned the show into the pundit
hour and expected for it to succeed. CNN just
keeps giving you an excuse to turn the channel.
CNN management is afraid of Eliot Spitzer.
Wonder why ?
360 is on fire. For the last 2 nights AC has
beaten BOR in the demo at 11 and last night
he was the top demo at 10. AC has no one
to build up a lead. His ratings are all his own.
I think CNN has issued a denial about getting rid of John King USA. It was on one of the big media blogs.
Good to see 360 doing well against BOR, but I think it will change once he goes back to the studio.
Since CNN made such a huge public statement
in support of John King,he is not being canned.
On the other hand, Erin Burnett has to replace
somebody. There are no openings unless there
is someone leaving that we don't know about.
The Post is trying to smoke out CNN for info.
The NY Post is owned by News Corp. They know
the right moves at 8 & 9 can spell trouble for
FOX all you have to do is look at 10.
Folks, totals count and more advertisers are paying attention those 55 and over because there are just more of us than ever before.
AC did not beat BOR in totals for the 11pm hour according to TVN and he did not beat Greta in totals at 10pm on Wednesday.
If anyone is "on fire" it's Rachel Maddow from MSNBC, who almost consistently cracks a million without leaving her chair.
I thought the demo numbers were very important because they determine how the advertising rate will be set.
I am a Nelson house and I can tell you they do track that demo group, otherwise they would not have picked my house. No one over 55 here.
What concerns me is how the ratings slip for AC360 when he is in the studio. What will happen when he is splitting his time between 360, the new day time show, and 60 Minutes. Having three shows demanding your time may be a catastrophe for all three shows.
The ratings in the demo for 360 are amazing.
Rachel Maddow does not have to follow 2 shows
that finish 3rd and sometimes 4th. 360 likely
has a higher percentage of demo viewers than
the others. That is millions for CNN. If he can
get a higher demo percentage than the others
with lower totals that is very attractive to ad
guys. Now if only they would bring back the
cool bump music on 360 when the news is
not hard hitting like Joplin.I am wiling to bet
that 360 is one of the most profitable shows
in cable news. I really enjoyed 361 last night.
CNN needs to use this style of storytelling
more often.
His new show is filmed in advance, and his reports for 60 minutes are limited
It depends upon what he does in the studio.
I think last night's ratings will be just fine. I
was bothered by the Libya rape story. I agree
that changes are coming to prime time. Not
sure what they will be. If AC's new show this
fall is taped in the TW studios in NYC he can
be live during the afternoon show. 360 is
late at night so I'm not sure the show is taped.
It seems like TW is making things convenient.
Probably won't see 360 tonight. Going to see
Hangover tonight. Summer movie time.
If you go to AndersonCooper.com they have a listening of the dates the show will tape under tickets. The show starts taping Aug 16th yet the first show isn't until September 12th. Gives Anderson plently of time in between shows if something happens
I mean "listing" of the dates on my last post, not listening.
2 words for CNN : George Stroumboulopoulos.
Dude would be great right before 360. Maybe
someday the people at CNN will read this blog.
We want Strombo. We want Strombo.
@12:01PM You make an excellent point and one that is totally realistic.
No one, not even AC, can do all three things and do them well, ALL at the same time. Something has to give.
Even if his shows are taped on schedule, in the news biz, taping is interrupted with NEWS. Tornadoes and wars don't stop and say, "Oh wait Anderson is taping today."
You're either in the news or you're not. You can't have it all.
Remember the old adage: Too many cooks spoil the broth, apply it to this. Too much work comes out poorly.
Ophra devoted her entire 25 years to making her show great.
Phil Donahue devoted his years to making his show a first.
Both of these icons didn't have 3 balls in the air all at once.
