  1. This can't continue for CNN. The longer
CNN sticks with ITA and PMT the more
damage is done to CNN. It will get much
harder for them to get viewers to come
back to CNN. Viewers have had enough.

  2. I am in agreement with the other commentor.
PMT and ITA is dragging 360 down, especially on Fridays.
360 got a 520 and a 526 in totals and the demos were very low, 156.
While AC should be able to deliver a better showing on his own, and he will have to, during his daytime hour, a lead in is of utmost importance and with Piers, he has none.
But then Piers has very little to offer except showmanship. He's a gamesman and a tabloid blowhard.
No one today wants to sit with one personality or even two, for an hour, unless there is an issue of relevance involved.
Spitzer was on vacation last week so we can't really blame him for the incredibly bad ratings. Joe Johns sat is for him and he's a great investigative reporter...not anchor material.

  3. Joe Johns was in for John King last week. Eliot
Spitzer and Piers Morgan's numbers have been
moving down for at least 3 months. 2 things
that never should have happened are PMT &
ITA.I will believe we will know CNN is serious
    when the cancel both shows.

Looking forward the the numbers for Monday
later today. I have the feeling that it won't be
any better for CNN. Remember Ali Velshi is
now the 1st face on CNN in the morning.
Next up is AM a show that nobody cares for.
Ali Velshi, Kiran Chetry & Christine Romans
will never work. CNN needs to really pay
attention to their programming as well as
what they expect for viewers to tolerate.
CNN has it's work cut out for it. They have
to find new prime time shows and a new
    morning show/team. Judging from the
track record, CNN will mess things up.

  4. I must say that with Charlie Moore at the helm
360 is a much better show than it was a year
ago. Anderson Cooper just gets better and is
at the top of his game. Lately, Anderson has
been giving us the kind of journalism we have
come to expect from him. Riciculist is a light
hearted way to end the night. Laughed so hard
about Kim Kardashsian Adding Isha Sesay to 360
has also been a breath of fresh air. I favor more
or Anderson and Isha as well. Anderson, Charlie
Moore and all of the people at 360 have earned
the right to have the freedom to do whatever
they want with 360. The show is thriving now
and it needs to be hands off with management.
It was refreshing to see Anderson have John
King & Gloria Bolger on to talk politics. It was
refreshing to see the segment be about
substance and not silliness. John and Gloria
are pros and you can believe them. Don't
mess with 360. Let them do their thing.

  5. CNN needs to hire George Strouumboulopoulos.
Hands down he is one of the best journalists &
media personalities in the world. The man has
the ability to make anything interesting. Don't
forget those interview skills. We want Strombo.
    Help us out CNN.

  6. CNN has too many negatives. You see hate,
    bigotry,anger,mean-spiritness, nastiness
and rudeness and it comes from pundits
and reporters. I can only watch 360, I knew
once they embraced Lou Dobbs that CNN was
going down the hate route and it is still the
same even though Dobbs have left. Stopped
watching the Sit Room because Lisa Sylveser
was a part of the hate on Lou Dobss and Jack
Cafferty and Carol Costello are the mean
people you stay away from.CNN needs to
    apologize to their viewers.

  7. The Bachmann segment would have worked
better with Bonnie Tyler's Here She comes
played in the beginning. Cool music used
to be a big part of 360. Why did it go away ?
Did the grumpy old men in management not
like it ? You want to get people's attention
when it comes to politics add music.

  8. Sadly, I am convinced that CNN would never
hire Strombo because his show has very high
journalistic standards.CNN went as low as to
hire Eliot Spitzer and Piers Morgan. That tells
me all I need to know about CNN. Stombo
will never catch their eye. His show is too good
for CNN management and they seem to favor
bad talent. Yes he would be a good fit if CNN
ever decides to become a news network again
    instead of the opinion channel.

  9. Hey guys sometime today the ratings will
be out for Q2. Let's see what happened.

    ReplyDelete
  10. The NY Daily News has an item about the possible cancellation of In The Arena, don't know if there's any truth to that though.

Whenever Anderson does a KTH piece on a conservative like Michelle Bachmann, it starts out tough and probing but then he tries to soften the blow of his critique by being overly complimentary in the subsequent segments, like he was when he was talking to King and Borger about Bachmann. He does this all the time, but not, however, with Democrats. When he wants to skewer them, he goes all out and doesn't try to appease them in any way and I don't think that's very fair and balanced. I think AC/CNN is too worried about the Tea Party's reaction to their reporting or they sympathize with them on some level.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Gimme a break. If Jim Walton really wanted to
yank In The Arena and Piers Morgan, he could
do it in a NY minute. Way to go CNN you are
doing a heck of a job losing viewers.

  12. In looking at AC/360's ratings for Monday nite, it is clear to me that 1)the Ridiculist is NOT helping raise the shows ratings because most of the time it is lame and 2)Viewers don't appreciate it when AC isn't really "keeping them honest" when he falls heads over heels with Michelle Bachmann and so does his panel which included Gloria Boger and John King.
Viewers who are liberal or moderates don't want to hear she answers questions and doesn't evade issues when SHE REALLY DOESN'T KNOW THE ISSUES.
Are you really keeping yourself honest by telling viewers this BS??
Personally AC if I want to hear fairy tales I'd rather be watching Fox News and by the way, Chris Wallace had it right when he called her a flake. She is ONE.
For Monday nite, you well deserved your low ratings scores.

  13. I love the Ridiculist.

  14. CNN had better clean house at American Morning
right now. It just averaged 200,000 viewers & a
shameful 89,000 in the demo. At the rate they
are heading downward, it is only a matter of
time before they are last behind CNBC. I am not
sure which is more pressing the am show or
the prime time troubles. Things can't stay the
same unless CNN wants it to.

    ReplyDelete
  15. @10:57PM: Oh you're the one!
I am in agreement that American Morning needs to clean house and fast.
CNN needs a fast paced morning show to lead the day like Morning Joe.
Rumor has it that CNN Management was trying to lure Joe S. to CNN but I guess talks fell through.
MSNBC will never give him up. He's their golden boy for the morning.
They took another chance just like they did with Rachel Maddow and came up smelling roses.
Good for them for looking for something both new and fresh twice in a row.

  16. Another RidicuList fan here.

  17. I'm disappointed that 360 wasted time on
Bachmann last night and bought in the
talking heads. Is it a rule at CNN that they
can't do political stories without chatter ?
Where is Isha Sesay ? She has not been
around for some 2 weeks. If this keeps up,
I might have to stop watching 360 again.
Bring back the Raw Politics with Tom Foreman
and just skip the pundits period. At least
Tom is a great storyteller and has a way
    with words.

  18. CNN is a poor excuse for a news channel.
Just not too long ago. Kyra interrupted a
live shot about the upcoming press conf
with President Obama to go to the Casey
Anthony trail. You all have to wonder what
is wrong with CNN. There is you answer.
HLN has the trial. CNN needs to stick to
the news and get it's act together. There
is not excuse for that. That is what you
get when CNN went with Ken Jautz, who
used to be in charge of HLN. CNN has
    been completely destroyed .

  19. CNN needs to give Toure the 8 pm slot.
Just today there is a report from NABJ
about the lack of diversity in cable news
particularly in prime time.It was a huge
mistake for CNN to be the only channel
with 3 white males in prime time. Why
did CNN go with questionable hires. No
diversity there. In fact, Lawrence has
talked about this on The Last Word. Do
    something bold for once CNN.

CNN should also go with Erin Burnett,
Isha Sesay, Alina Cho and hire a very
    prominent Latino female journalist.
Diversity is what can save CNN. Put
that crew on in the morning opposite
Morning Joe and see what happens.

I am onboard with Strombo. He interviews
a wide range of diverse guests not just
    celebrities. Besides the hourlong interview
    is so last century.

  20. CNN is being poorly managed. The wrong
people are hired or promoted. There seems
to be no plan or goals for CNN. Is there any
people at CNN with a vision or goals for the
network to grow and attract viewers or to
develop shows and hire the next generation
of reporters, writers, thinkers and new media
people. CNN did the ultimate oops; they quit
being news driven and basically got out of
the news biz. That is like ESPN not doing
sports, which is their bread and butter.CNN
is being run by guys who subscribe to
pure ideology and the media circus. The
ignorance virus is beyond containment at
CNN.It not about news, information, facts
or content. It is cheap ploys to try to get
ratings but is falling flat because we all
know it is an act. CNN needs realness and
to stop being a fake news network. CNN is
    never coming back because management
let all of the bad decisions happen. Jon
Klein gets fired and you don't get rid of
the problems he created. It defies logic.
Have you noticed that lately CNN is missing
some big stories and seems to be running
a day behind with the news. Hello, CNN has
Eliot Spitzer doing breaking news. Sure.
Like that is going to help CNN. It is so much
fun watching CNN go down because they
are doing ti to themselves. We have a front
row seat to the disaster that is CNN. The
only way they will ever have a comeback
is to find another Ted Turner to re-invent
CNN and turn it back into the world's best
news organization. Right now they are at
    the very bottom.

  21. The segment with Bachmann on 360 last night was an improvement because AC, Borger and even Erickson were not giving Bachmann a pass on her record and the facts were presented without an attempt to praise her as a politician or sugarcoat the way AC did the other night.

Some tweets from 360 staffers show that they are fascinated by the Casey Anthony trial and that is unfortunate, because I find the segments on this too long and completely uninteresting. Anderson had a good interview in the second hour with Bruce Feiler about "Arab Spring". If I had my way THAT would've been in the first hour and there would be no Casey coverage. I wish all we had to hear about was the final verdict so that 360 can devote time on stories that are of real significance.

  22. I really appreciate this blog and I thank all
of you. I have learned so much. Now I go
to CBC to watch Strombo and Mark Kelley.
Rock solid journalists. I have noticed that
Strombo seems to be on vacation as they
are going with repeats but that is giving me
time to really watch past episodes and learn
about the show. Mark Kelley is actually in
Afghanistan this week. Fortunately, the boss
does not care as long as we get our work
done and not visit any offensive websites.
I hope that CNN finds answers.

  23. The next time CNN has a Press Release, they have to legitmize it by a disclaimer telling readers that every line of this bull cr.. and is subject to CNN interpretation, THEIR INTERPRETATION.
That way we wouldn't waste our time reading through the percentages and asking ourselves what planet they're on.
    We already know.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I have to agree with the person who said "they appreciate this blog."
I do as well, if only because here you are free to discuss a variety of subjects and not be limited to just one.
You are also free to speak your mind as long as it remains respectful and most of the comments, though critical of CNN management, are constructive in their analysis.
Few comments are hurtful, although there are some that demonstrate intolerance for hosts that don't know their subject matter and never will, but this blog allows us much more latitude in giving our opinions in the hope that maybe, just maybe, someone with authority from CNN will read what we have to say as viewers, and then use our wisdom to create a "better mouse trap."
    Thank you ATC.
