Ok 360. In your Anthony Weiner report, didn't we leave something out?? No, not the weiner part.
How about the Breitbart portion, where this conservative know it all, took the stage to defend HIMSELF for revealing "the truth."
Everything about this candid performance of both these "jerks" was laughable, but why half the story CNN?
If you're going to "Keep Them Honest," try reporting the story in its ENTIRETY!
Or better yet, put that on your Ridiculist AC, instead of Paris Hilton....someone only you seem to care about.

CNN will try to blame the ratings on Casey
Anthony. My thinking is that those tuning
in for HLN are not news viewers.

I am starting to think that CNN is just in a
period of denial and too afraid to make any
decisions that will fix those numbers.CNN
just got everything wrong and they don't
seem to know how to fix things. We can
only hope that at some point someone will
tire of walking into the brick wall. This is
a lineup that is going no where. Hey CNN
viewers are voting with their remotes.

I am sticking with Willie Geist and leaving
the tv on MSNBC. Every once in a while I
stop watching CNN , sometimes for 2 yrs.
I am at that point again. I will evaluate 360
on a daily basis. If it is good, I will watch.
Last chose not to. 5 soldiers died in Iraq
on 360 spent 30 minutes on Weiner.Like
we had not seen it all day long and are
not shocked by much these days. CNN
will find the ratings for yesterday will not
bring a bump. This is a surprise to no one.

Why is Ali Velshi being promoted ? The man's
voice annoys me.

This is what I hope the CNN lineup will look like :

Aisha Tyler at 8. There were rumors that she was
being considered by CNN. She is sharp funny and
smart and could challenge Rachel for being the
female news personality with the most wit and
Tyler knows news.I say she beats Last Word and
Nancy Grace easily.Aisha would rival Rachel in
the demo.

At this point the Strombo guy can't hurt. The
name alone is an attention grabber. He seems
to have the right mix of news, interviews and
pop culture and he is funny but in a smart way.

Finishing things up for CNN Anderson with 360.
360 is the hottest show on CNN right now.

To me this is a good mix and not boring .
This is my CNN prime time dream team.
In the event of breaking news you could
have Jon King stick around and Anderson
come on an hour early.I say in this order
because CNN needs better strategic counter-
programming to what is on Fox or MSNBC
for the hour.

In closing, I have been watching Current this
morning and they have some of the docs from
Marianna Van Zeller. She needs her own show
on CNN. Why someone like this is not at a
major network is beyond me. She is fearless.
I noticed on weekends CNN is sometimes
going with half hour specials.

Anon 9:37 that is a lineup that I would DVR.
CNN should offer CNN, CNN I & HLN via an
online subscription. You could watch live
streaming of either of the channels 24/7
on computers, mobile devices, phone and
even game devices like XBOX. You could
have choices with a fee for all 3, 2 or just
one channel. $ 5.00 a month for all 3, 2
for 3:50 and 1 channel for 1:50. CNN needs
to be more accessible. If they come up with
a series of shows that people will want to
see it is a more money for CNN. If you are
already a CNN costumer, just offer us the
app to download to watch on multiple
devices. I think the problem for CNN is
that they think too small. You have the
possibility of making the news accessible
to billions. Even your Ipod. You can now
go to NBC to watch episodes of the news
with Brian Williams. Why CNN is not offering
full episodes of shows after they air 1st on
the network is beyond me. Of course full
episodes would be free on CNN. That is
likely to drive up your online numbers.
More ad dollars.

CNN is thinking backwards. Ali for 4 hours is
the last thing CNN needs. 4 hours of the same
old same old over and over again. That is the
big problems with all of the 2 hr shows on CNN.
It is so repetitive and just awful.

Ironically, Larry King was on Joe this morning and
it was a great conversation about cable news. He
talk about overselling interviews, faux question
and interviews all designed to promote agendas.
Larry complimented Joe for having a fun news
show with wide ranging topics and guests. He
is right. I often said that CNN needs wide
ranging topics, interesting people and guests.
CNN is to obsessed with pundits , ideology
and pov opinion. That is a recipe for a ratings
disaster and you have visible proof in the ratings.

Anonymous said...

This is all happening because Time Warner
could care less about CNN. If they really did,
there is no way In The Arena or PIers Morgan
would have made it to air. Sadly, Ted Turner
gave up CNN and now it is so dumbed down
and not worth watching. What took you so
long to turn the channel ? They are hanging
on the cliff right now just a few more pushes
and over it goes beyond repair.

Anonymous said...

Un freakin believable. CNN did not get
decent ratings for Anthony Weiner. Look
folks there was no actual sex. That is why
it is not as interesting as the others. If the
Romney interview is any indication, CNN
will get really low rating for the debate.
360 was CNN highest rated show but it
was behind as well. This is clearly not
working for CNN.

Anonymous said...

With Eliot Spitzer being CNN's lead show
in prime time hey really don't need to
be going heavy on sex scandals. One of
the biggest jokes going around is that
Anthony Weiner will end up with a show
on CNN. The only reason CNN hired him
was because of the sex scandal and they
know it. Ali Velshi. CNN is not serious.
LOL.

4th place and well behind is how CNN
finished on Monday with a breaking
news story. That's troubling in so many
ways. Now American Morning is solidly
falling behind Morning Joe. Ali, KIran &
Christine were beaten by 200,000 more
viewers. Yeah Ali deserves a promotion.
MSNBC needs to send CNN a thank you
card. The moves at American Morning
made Morning Joe's ratings go up.

360 may well be the "hottest" show on CNN right now, but that is not saying much.
"The Ed Show" beat 360 and CNN came in third place for the third nite in a row.
I know I might be in the minority and that's fine, BUT, I do not care for the Ridiculist.
Yes, at times it has been up to date and humorous, but most of the time I find it well...boring.
I know, we get to see another side of Anderson.
Well I like the serious side of Anderson, the one that made him famous, the in the field Anderson.
This one tries to be witty and at times succeeds, but not enough to keep anyone coming back for more, at least not me and it seems by the ratings, others as well.
AC...you're YOU, not Dorothy Parker.
There was only one Dorothy and there's only one YOU.
We liked you the way you were. Please don't change.
Most of the time, the Ridiculist is just that: Ridiculous
Why not fill that time bantering with someone really witty...Isha.
Now that I could watch and so would others.

Larry King was also on Bill Maher's program and he instantly brought his brand of humor and political commentary to the show.
I miss "Uncle Larry."
He knew how to endear himself to his audience and the viewers were loyal and so were his guests.
Ann Coulter, though I can't stand her, was on Morgan tonite, and you could tell she was irritated with him for not promoting her book correctly.
Some celebrities absolutely refuse to go on Morgan's show. Bill Maher is one of them and Judge Judy and Jon Stewart.
These are all big names but they remain loyal to Larry, who knew them "when."

Anonymous said...

I see Isha has some fans here. Keep in mind
that she is one of the anchors on CNN I and
hosts Inside Africa on that network. She has
a coolness and wit that does jump out at you
on television. That is rare. Which means she
will never have an expanded role at CNN. I
say give Isha her own show at 8. She is a
journalist, can do breaking news and has
a million dollar personality. Viewers already
know her from 360, so familiarity is not a
problem. I loved the birthday bit she did
for Anderson.

Since CNN is dropping World One in the
morning, not watching them. Too much
Ali Velshi already. Why in the world is
both he and Piers Morgan on 7 days a
week. Neither are worth watching. Stop
trying to sell personalities that are a
hard pill to swallow.

CNN needs to work on content and how
it presents the news. That is why CNN is
horrible. The graphics, too many banners,
video you can't see but it's important to
see the chatter box and not the video.
If you are going to use the touch screen,
make sure your viewers can see it. The
news is the star.

Anonymous said...

American Morning is going nowhere fast.
It is odd that low ratings are acceptable
for recent decisions made by management.
Not only that. You get an elevated role. So
the business model for CNN is to promote
failure. Campbell Brown & Larry are asked
to exit because of ratings. Miles O'brien
& Soledad were both moved off the am
show for low ratings.CNN is so committed
to the goal of turning off viewers.

Anonymous said...

Sadly, Isha Sesay nor Aisha Tyler would
ever be on CNN in prime time with their
own shows.CNN is the only cable news
channel with 3 white males in prime time.
CNN does not want minorities or women
in prime time.

Anonymous said...

CNN could not buy ratings with ITA & PMT.
The ratings are in for last night and it is the
same news. CNN is 4th in prime time. AM is
getting some days lower than 300,000. If it
is any indication, Ali coming on an hour earlier
is likely to hurt rather than help. That move
makes no sense at all. CNN is incapable of
doing any segments without pundits. Who
would DVR that.

Anonymous said...

How can CNN keep burying it's head in the
sand with these numbers ? How can 2 shows
that are so far behind not be on the time to
cancel list ? That ratings deficit is getting too
deep to just do nothing. Piers Morgan and
Eliot Spitzer are shrinking CNN's audience.
Prime time is something CNN needs to get
to work on right now.

Anonymous said...

I'm thinking that CNN will add Erin Burnett
to the lineup after debate week. Someone
is being moved for her. Who that is remains
to be seen. CNN is problematic right now. It
is time for some fresh shows and to drop the
2 hr anchor shows. Add rotating anchors each
day.CNN look like really old tv. From production,
presentation, story selection and storytelling CNN
is getting it all wrong.

The ratings are in for Wednesday and it is the
same headline for CNN : we are 4th. I am
thinking that CNN is headed for a daytime
fall. American Morning is getting beaten
badly by Morning Joe. As MJ grows so does
the daily rundown. That is likely going to
start growing MSNBC dayside.

CNN should make their entire news library
available on line. For the past 30 yrs CNN
had to amass a sizable news library.CNN
needs to have the goal of being about
informative conversation and making sure
their viewers get something out of the
various segments. What is in it for the viewer
when you just have opinions. You have to
talk to the viewers and stop treating them
like they are not in the room. Opinions don't
matter. The lesson of Morning Joe is that
you don't have to be like all of the others.
Also, you can tell that the Morning Joe crew
loves the news and are interested in the
news and various subjects.

Prediction : come June 20,2011 Current TV will
top CNN at 8 & 9 PM. Keith will be back with
Countdown and Vanguard will follow that. It is
only a matter of time before Current starts making
waves and CNN is clearly the weakest and can be
overtaken. Down goes CNN. Current is revamping
to become more news oriented in the next few
months, at least in prime time and CNN has the
worst lineup that people don't have to see for
any reason at all.

Anonymous said...

I'm not a fan of Morning Joe, but I
did make it a point to tune in this morning to see what all the fuss was about and I have to say that MSNBC was and IS, smart.
They saw a chance to be "hip" and they took it and it worked and yes, everyone there was or seemed to be a news junkie and the show was fun to watch and different.
This is not the first time MSNBC has taken a chance and won over viewers.
Look at The Rachel Maddow Show.
She was different right from the start, but CNN never would have NEVER hired her or Ed Shultz for that matter, because he wasn't "pretty" enough. Well he seems to be holding his own against AC, his competition.....
Listen and learn CNN, your competition is a lot smarter than you think, and I'm not talking about FOX NEWS.

Anonymous said...

Anderson Cooper has some major journalism
skills and is one of the best. So what if the man
looks good. He is a rock solid journalist. When
Ed has 2 people finishing 4th before he is on,
then it is a different story. AC makes up a ratings
loss at 10 PM. Anderson Cooper is not the
problem and he is competitive despite
having to follow 2 lousy shows. He has actually
beaten Greta several times. That is not the
case with Ed,.

Joe once did a left vs right show at 10 on MSNBC
and it was a disaster. That is when MSNBC learned
that you don't give a politician their own show and
try to turn them into a journalist. That is why
Joe made the decision to surround himself with
journalists and intelligent conversation. CNN
can't turn a former politician into a journalist.
It does not work. CNN lacks passion for the
news and reporting. Lawrence O'Donnell and
Rachel Maddow grew at MSNBC. Yes, the
management at MSNBC is much better at
utilizing it's talent. CNN should never have
gone with Piers Morgan and Eliot Spitzer.
No other cable news channel would give
either of them shows.CNN is too lazy to
really do something for the viewers. POV
is nothing of value. You could never call
MSNBC lazy. MSNBC went for college kids
and college graduates. I am sure CNN has
lost viewers like this.I am one of them.
360 is the only show I will even watch on
CNN.

Anonymous said...

The Ridiculist is just a brief portion at the end of 360 that most of Anderson's viewers enjoy. Prior to AC doing it, the ratings were basically the same. It doesn't hurt or help, but he seems to enjoy it and so do many of his viewers and it's not unlike what he used to do at ABC and the early days of 360. No harm done.

Anonymous said...

@11:15AM: And your point is what, that MSNBC and Morning Joe don't deserve praise??????
And by the way, not everything that is written here is about AC.
You've got the wrong blog.
The fact remains that CNN is struggling unless there is breaking news, that's a FACT.

Anonymous said...

TV by the Numbers has the ratings for Thursday.
Things can't continue with American Morning.
250,000 viewers is a shame. Not sure what the
answer is but it is not the current anchor trio.
It is just not working. To be honest these 3 are
the reason I starting watching Morning Joe. Ali,
Kiran and Christine don't work as an anchor
team.It is just too painful to watch.CNN is losing
right from the start.

Anderson Cooper rocks. Love 360 & The
Ridiculist. Friday night's Ridiculist made
me laugh so hard. Can they at least bring
back the cool bump music on Friday, I
heard the original 360 theme song on the
radio. Can 360 at least go retro on Friday
and give us the cool bump music for at
least one day. Please bring back the music
360. Pretty please.

Anonymous said...

Please rock with Anderson in the daytime or better yet, in his next life as a disc jockey since he likes to keep reinventing himself.
Let's not get completely juvenile about 360 with bump music.
Some of us like bump music when the news is good. Not when there's a 10% unemployment figure or maybe higher, and the real estate market is flat, and we have 3 wars going.
And did I forget to mention our increasing fascination with Weiner's weiner and Sarah Palin's tweets.
Well in the later, maybe we could use bump music.
