  1. CNN should just have Don Lemon & Soleda
heading the Whitney Houston funeral. Just
now Don Lemon gave us a history lesson on
the church and the community. Piers Morgan
does not understand that culture or community.
Not sure that the media as a whole understands
the concept of homegoing at funerals. Don just
gave us a fascinating interview with a pastor who
was a walking history book. Don knew what to
ask and where to take the conversation.

  2. That is a good point. Black Gospel is very
different and tells a story and has meaning.
The preaching and singing is very different
    in black churches.

  3. BET had the best presentation. The network had
amazing footage of Whitney & her mom singing.
CNN is missing the point of a Homegoing. I think
they thought it was going to be like Michael Jackson.
This was a church setting and very different. BET was
the only network with a graphic that said Homegoing
in the title. It just moved your heart to hear I Will
Always Love You at the end of The Homecoming. It
was as if she was saying her goodbyes to all. God
    bless her mom CIssy Houston.

  4. Memo to CNN : in the future when you select
your talent to cover events make sure the can
offer knowledge. Soledad had to keep schooling
Piers. Thank goodness for Soledad an Don. Piers
    was out of his league.

  5. Hi, we are back with this week's data. Nothing for
Friday just yet so there are 9 more days of numbers
coming up until Feb 29, 2012. Here are the stats so
far TV BY THE NUMBERS is the numbers source.

    360 is averaging 557,000/183,000 at 8

    Ed is averaging 1,035,000/233,000

    BOR is averaging 3,048,000/628,000

We can't be sure but BOR might be down a little.
Is it an anomaly or real ? We can't say but FNC is
not holding on to viewers like they once did at
9 & 10 PM. However, it is early so nothing is solid.

We are wondering what will the 8 PM hour look
like if BOR is below 3 million for an entire week.
360 is growing up from the lead in but if Out
Front gets under 400,000 that is not good. Can
360 get in 600,000 realm or above ? Right now
the demo deficit is 50,000 between Anderson
& ED. Friday John KIng was in for Anderson so
it is possible the numbers will be down for 360.
Until the ratings are in for Friday we can't say if
Anderson or ED will come out ahead in the demo.

    360 is averaging 668,000/253,000 at 10 PM

    TLW is averaging 955,000/249,000

    OTR is averaging 1,735,000/406,000

This is the most fascinating hour in cable news.
All can claim a demo win this week. This week's
    stats are rather interesting.

360 was averaging 750,000/317,000 up until
Friday. TLW is averaging 941,000/247,000 and
OTR is averaging 1,586,000/382,000. We will
be keeping an eye on this to see how it all plays
out for the rest of the year. Can 360 or TLW flip
    the demo ?

We will end this post here. More follows.

  6. The saga continues. Here is the rest of the data
for some of CNN's major shows.

TSR is averaging 597,000/130,000 at 5 PM

    Hardball is averaging 792,000/141,000

    The 5 is averaging 1,680,000/381,000

    JK,USA is averaging 465,000/135,000

    Politics Nation is averaging 789,000/176,000

    SPCL RPT is averaging 1,893,000/397,000

We were shocked to learn that Sharpton is
getting a higher demo than Hardball at 5.
That is is leading to a rise in the ratings at
    7 PM for MSNBC.

    Out Front is averaging 410,000/129,000

Hardball at 7 is averaging 822,000/205,000

    Fox Rpt is averaging 1,750,000/424,000

CNN has to figure out a way to gain or to hold
on to those TSR viewers. It's not a good sign
for CNN to keep losing viewers for 2 hours. No
way can that continue. FNC & MSNBC are in a
better position in prime time because of this.
Lead ins matter in prime time. Without BOR
FNC could not get those ratings with Hannity
or Greta. He builds up a lead for FNC. MsNBC
holds steady going into prime time.360 has to
make up a huge viewer deficit. The fact that it
is competitive in the demo is amazing.

    PMT is averaging 682,000/220,000

    TRMS is averaging 1,082,000/295,000

    Hannity is averaging 2,159,000/503,000

We post this data for constructive not destructive
dialect. Please don't use this for personal attacks.
The situation for CNN improved this week. There
are 9 days to go . Stay Tuned.

  7. How much is this ratings improvement due to the death of Whitney Houston coverage? CNN has a solid rep for breaking news so people come to them for big events. They will probably do well with the debate next week - that helped them in January. If CNN could have a contentious republican primary debate every week they would. There is a show idea - great lead-in for AC360?! Kidding, sort of ;)
