ANDERSON COOPER 360° SPECIAL INVESTIGATION: CHARITY CHEATS?
CNN’s Anderson Cooper anchors a one-hour special that includes an investigation by investigative correspondent Drew Griffin on national charities that raise millions of dollars, but only spend a small percentage of those proceeds to help their cause. Griffin takes an in-depth look at three charities, including the National Veterans Foundation and the Disabled Veterans National Foundation, by examining each organization’s tax records and reported expenses. Griffin reveals that the three organizations in question share a common link to the New York-based Quadriga Art, one of the world’s largest direct-mail providers to charities and non-profits.

Football rules at JH Rose High School in Greenville, North Carolina, but football glory has come at a cost for the players. In the fall of 2008, Jaquan Waller, a JH Rose junior, died from “second impact syndrome,” a fatal swelling of the brain that occurred when he took a blow to his head before his first concussion injury had healed. Just weeks later Matt Gfeller, a sophomore at Reynolds High School in neighboring Winston-Salem, NC, died from a single concussion. And in 2010, the J.H. Rose Rampants lost their star quarterback when his 6th concussion took him out of the game forever. Nationally, less than 40% of high schools have certified trainers – the key medical personnel who can help diagnose and treat injured players. CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta speaks with the coaches, parents and kids trying to learn how to prevent this danger in youth sports.
CRUISE TO DISASTER
CNN senior international correspondent Dan Rivers investigates safety issues within the cruise industry – specifically focusing on the January 13, 2012, Costa Concordia cruise ship disaster off the Italian coast, which claimed the lives of 32 passengers and crew members. Rivers takes an in-depth look at the multiple failures and consequences of that night by interviewing several surviving passengers as well as Costa CEO Pier Luigi Foschi and ship captain Francesco Schettino’s lawyer. International Maritime Organization Secretary General Koji Sekimizu and U.S. Senator Jay Rockefeller speak about the safety issues raised by the disaster.

I am finding the new third, 6PM hour of The Situation Room very interesting but I'm not so sure that I am liking the opinionated side of Wolf Blitzer in it as well as the round table. He isn't taking political sides on anything but is giving his two cents on certain matters. I feel however that this third hour is just temporary until after the election. Afterwards, CNN's supposed new schedule should be in full effect. I would love for CNN to just return back to straight news. They are looking more like CNN from years ago during the Crossfire / Inside Politics / Capital Gang, era. Not liking it. Starting Point needs to be cancelled.
Why is Piers Morgan always sucking up to Americans by playing "patriotism" as if he himself was an American? I see his special 4th of July show has a title "Pride of America", one of his main segments on regular shows is "Keeping America Great", his closing segment is called "Only in America". When did he become an expert in America? He's been in the country for like five or six years. It looks fake and pretty annoying.
I truly feel that the best thing for CNN US to do would be to become CNN International. It would be highly successful. It should start after the election, on the new year. We can still get coverage for future presidential primaries considering CNN US has simulcasted with CNN International anyway on these occasions. Anderson Cooper and Wolf Blitzer are already simulcasted with CNN International so why not, considering both of them are the big stars. Have their shows broadcast during United States prime time hours though. Problem solved. It would be absolutely great for CNN to do this. If I were president of CNN worldwide, I would put major consideration into this thought.
