Ambush, Access, Debate, & Mystery

In today's post:

Ambush at the River of Secrets

This weekend CNN is broadcasting Ambush at the River of Secrets on Special Investigations Unit. Tom Foreman tells the story of four marines from the 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, Charlie Company. This program has been aired several times over the last several months and if you haven't had the chance to see it, I highly recommend it. Just have a hanky handy.

From CNN's website: Saturday and Sunday at 8 and 11 p.m. ET. Their deaths marked a tragic milestone: 3,000 U.S. troops killed in Iraq. We honor four Marines in a special hour. Watch CNN SIU’s ‘Ambush at the River of Secrets,’ Saturday and Sunday, 8 p.m. ET.

This week's CNN All Access Podcast is a real treat. They go behind the scenes of American Morning.

The podcast is available from CNN's website, iTunes, or this link. Check it out!

YouTube Debate

Monday is the YouTube debate with the Democrats. The video submissions look like they are over 1,750 questions. But did you realize that you could vote on which videos you think should be included on Monday?

There's a site setup that you can do just that. You can review the questions that have been submitted & provide you're two cents on whether it should be answered. (If you start tonight, do you think you can make it through all 1,700+ questions?) Here's the link, if you're interested.

Casual Friday

Today's video focuses on those YouTube questions that you probably won't be seeing on Monday night...

Mystery Journalist

Can you recognize a journalist from his tie alone?

Can you name this CNN journalist?

Please feel free to let us know who you think this journalist is in the comments. The identity of the Mystery Journalist will be revealed in Sunday night's post.

And to those of you who are Harry Potter fans, have you gotten your copy of the book yet?

Tom Foreman???
It's really sad when you think you know who it is but you recognize the tie as belonging to a different anchor. I watch entirely too much CNN.

My guess is Tom Foreman too.

Thanks for the link to the podcast. I always like the behind the scenes stuff!

I'm going to be different and guess John King. That was my first thought when I saw the pic.

I'm going to say the mystery journalist is Nic Robertson.

I have a question on how to watch the podcast on the computer. I tried lastnight and just could not get it to work. What should I have to view it? I don't have an ipod. LOL I see no Ipod in my future considering my kids conned my dh into getting a Nintendo Wii this summer for thier birthday. So that leaves Momma out. Thanks for sharing all this stuff. I have really enjoyed it!

@Evelyn- I seriously considered going to the midnight release- but just couldn't bring myself to dealing with the huge crowd. I picked mine up this morning :)

@bookasylum: i was also considering a morning pick-up to avoid the pandemonium but my little brother wanted to go to a release party so i took him and we made a swing to wal-mart afterwards :) also, i love your picture! all the great cnn men :)

@christy from GA- You'll need to have Quicktime or iTunes installed on your computer. (Both are a free download from Apple.)

I've had limited success in watching the podcasts with Windows Media player- sometimes it works; sometimes not. If I go into Windows Media Player, select file, open & choose ALL FILES. Then find the podcast that I want to view- it might play the file.

bookasylum thank you for helping me! It worked. I had a quicktime download but it must have been ancient because when I did the one I got instant results!
I hope you all enjoy your HP books. I have never read a page of any of them. I am a huge mystery reader and have not really been interested in Harry but I think I will get the entire set for my 9yr old for Christmas this year then I will read them with her.
Have a great week!
