Koppel Leaving & Yes, More YouTube

In today's post:

Andrea Koppel

CNN is losing another veteran correspondent.

Congressional correspondent, Andrea Koppel, will be leaving CNN at the end of this month. She's been with CNN since 1993.

From TVNewser, Koppel's note about her departure:

Dear friends and colleagues: As some of you may have heard by now, CNN and I were unable to reach agreement on a new contract and, as a result, I'll be leaving the company at the end of the month. I want to thank David Bohrman and Jon Klein, especially, for their understanding, encouragement and support. With their leadership I know CNN will continue to be the world's news leader. I will be forever grateful to CNN and to people like Eason Jordan, Tom Johnson and the now deceased Ed Turner for giving a cub reporter her big break back in 1993. Finally, I can't leave without thanking all of you -- my talented, hard working and passionate colleagues in DC, Atlanta and NY as well as in CNN's many bureaus around the world. You are the best of the best and I hope our paths will cross again down the road .... Andrea Koppel

More YouTube Debate

Did you miss all or part of the YouTube Debate with the Democratic candidates on Monday night? Well, don't fret! There are plenty of opportunities for you to still see the debate either in part or in its entirety.

First, CNN is scheduled to rebroadcast the debate on Saturday, July 28th & 29th at 9 pm EST.

Can't wait? CNN has posted the debate on their website. You have the option of watching the debate online or downloading it to watch on your iPod or PC.

Have you been to CNN's Election Center 2008 on their website?

Casual Friday

On Monday's American Morning, John Roberts was reporting on the YouTube moments that have already been created during the 2008 campaign, when he got caught up in a moment of his own...

I'm not sure how many times I've ended up watching this clip this past week, but it makes me laugh every time!

To see the full YouTube video by massmediakid featured in the clip- a link is available here.

Mystery Journalist

Can you name this CNN journalist?

Please feel free to let us know who you think this journalist is in the comments. The identity of the Mystery Journalist will be revealed in Sunday night's post.

I'm going to have agree with Anne on this one and say that they mystery journalist is Peter Bergen.

I also agree with Anne, about another one bites the dust and what exactally is going on over there at CNN. I wish I knew.

Anne, I think this is just more proof that we share a brain. I mean we keep having the same thoughts. LOL!!!

Hmmm, at least there is hope that I when I give up the stay at home mom gig maybe I can find a job at cnn...
Well I did not realize Andrea Koppel had been at CNN that long.
I also say Peter Bergen on the mystery picture.
You guys have inspired me. I dug out my old blog last night. Took me 30mins to find it then I had to join this google thingy just to sign on it. I had not blogged since May of 2006. ROFL I had only blogged 3 times total. How you keep this up everyday is just cool because I know you must all be busy people. My most exciting blog was on doing nothing! Maybe I will start it again.
Hope you all have a great weekend.

Thanks for the post. Wow! CNN is loosing lots of great people.

Carol Lin
Andrea Koppel
Jeff Koinage
Paula Zahn

I guess that is the nature of the business. I sure wish they would broadcast more from Africa. Oh, well, they didn't ask me.

I still miss Soledad in the morning. Don't want to say anything nasty about the new morning show. It is just not the same for me.

Soledad was a BIG asset in the morning. I understand she is working on a documentary about children for the Second Anniversary of Katrina. You may want to check on that BA.

BA, can I put in a tiny request? Next time you do an article would you do something on the smart and beautiful Carol Costello on TSR.

I am usually at the gym. I have had so much dental work this month I have been home. I have enjoyed seeing her on a regular basis. She is very bright and full of talent.

@Christy- good luck with the blogging! I originally started blogging only to prove to myself that I could (& that was only 9 months ago.)

@Blade- let me see what I can find- I like Carol Costello as well- thanks for the suggestion! And thanks for the tip on Soledad!

Hi BA:

You seem like a nice person and I don't know who moderates the comments here but just for the record, I set up a blogger id this morning. So if you get an strange ANON comments, they are not from me. From this point only, I will only comment with the blogger id --Blade.

I am sorry if you too along with ATA had problems with strange Blade comments.

I also say that it's Peter Bergen. Speaking of "The Berg", I get to go hear him speak in September. I'm very excited and can't wait to hear what he has to say :)

@Blade: I too enjoy Carol Costello on TSA. She's so professional and not to mention, very beautiful as well. I love watching Situation Room. Wolf is great and so is everyone on the show.

I guess I too will guess Peter Bergan....gotta love that eye and eyebrow.

Between the 6 of us, hopefully we can find some stuff on Carol Costello......I really like on TSR. We will do our best to find some good stuff about her. We are trying to find stuff on everyone at CNN and Headline News
