Business & Financial Reporting Emmy

2007 has been Drew Griffin's year. Below is an excerpt from a CNN Press release:

The National Television Academy of Television Arts & Sciences today awarded CNN investigative correspondent Drew Griffin with a Business and Financial Reporting Emmy, the third year in a row in which his reports have earned an Emmy and have been cited among the best in business reporting. The academy presented the awards during its fifth annual ceremony held today at the Rainbow Room in New York City.

For this year’s Emmy award, the academy cited both Griffin and senior investigative producer Kathleen Johnston for “Outstanding Coverage of a Current Business News Story in a Regularly Scheduled Newscast” for “Keeping Them Honest: Hidden Spending.” The report, which appeared during Anderson Cooper 360°, examined the more than 32,000 requests for congressional earmarks placed by House and Senate members this year, which eventually led to more than $29 billion in funding for everything from schools and hospital to ski lifts and bridges to nowhere.

Earlier this year, he was awarded the Everett McKinley Dirksen Award for Distinguished Coverage of Congress and named journalist of the year by the Atlanta Press Club and Indiana Trial Lawyers Association.
