Vegas, Babies, & Time Flies

CNN's John King was in Las Vegas today for the NAB-RTNDA conference, but his luggage isn't. TVNewser has been blogging from the conference and had this note on the discussion that John King moderated about the 2008 campaign:

At the start of the discussion, John King made note of his attire: a new sport coat, shirt and tie and jeans. "To celebrate the Delta-Northwest merger they sent my bags somewhere else." A CNN staffer convinced the hotel to reopen the men's store around 11pm last night so King could buy the shirt and tie. Before leaving Las Vegas for Wisconsin (to cover the McCain campaign), King sat down for an interview with TVNewser. We'll have that on Friday.

Monday, Kyra Phillips also moderated a forum on breaking news strategies:

CNN anchor Kyra Phillips, moderator of the panel, had some parting words for the three dozen or so students in the room: be alert and be around. "When I was an intern in San Diego I was asked to run out to do an interview," Phillips said. Turns out the interview was with Mother Teresa. "I still have a rosary she gave me."

FishBowlDC recently reported that several CNN journalists are expected to be at the 64th annual Radio & Television Correspondents Association "Salute to Congress" dinner on Wednesday, April 16, 2008. The dinner will be held at the Washington Hilton Hotel.

Gloria Borger, Ed Henry, Dana Bash, Jessica Yellin and Carol Costello are expected to be in attendance.

Ready for a few video clips? I've got several items for you from American Morning. It has been one year since John Roberts and Kiran Chetry took over the anchor desk. It was April 16, 2007 at 6:00 AM ET- John Roberts was in Washington, D.C. and Kiran Chetry was in New York. CNN was celebrating Larry King's 50 years in broadcasting and Larry got to interview the new duo at the end of American Morning that day. Here's a clip of the interview:

Kiran Chetry won't there on Wednesday to celebrate the anniversary. She started her maternatity leave today. Here's a clip from this morning's show as she signed off:

On Monday's American Morning, they shared a few pictures from Kiran's baby shower.

One more American Morning clip, since this post started with an airline theme, lets end with one as well. This morning, John Roberts was doing his best impression of an airline pilot as he apologized to two airline CEOs for a 40 minutes delay.
