Beirut exploded in street-fighting Thursday morning, and CNN had a reporter in the thick of it. Cal Perry and his crew had gone out to get some footage and wound up pinned down by sniper fire. Phebe posted those clips already, but here is a bit of follow-up:
As the fighting raged on, Ali Velshi began Issue#1 with an amazing interview with Christiane Amanpour in the studio and Cal Perry and CNN Beirut Bureau Chief Brent Sadler on separate phone calls. This important interview ran more than 16 minutes:

On Sunday, John King and Dana Bash were both in DC, appearing on Late Edition (only a couple weeks before the wedding... I bet they never thought they'd still be eyeball-deep in campaign coverage by now!); Suzanne Malveaux was in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Monday, Dana was in Charlotte, North Carolina; Candy Crowley was in Raleigh, North Carolina; Suzanne was in Merrillville, Indiana; the King boys -- John and Larry -- were both in New York City; and Alina Cho began a week of filling on for Kyra Phillips/Kiran Chetry.
Tuesday, Dana was in Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Suzanne was in Indianapolis; and Wolf was in New York City for the marathon primary coverage.
Wednesday, Suzanne was in Chicago; Candy, Dana, and John were all in DC, where John hosted Larry King Live.
Thursday, Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Christiane Amanpour (above) were both in New York, and Cal Perry reported from Beirut.
Friday, TJ Holmes covered American Morning for John Roberts, while Wolf Blitzer covered Election Center for Campbell Brown and AC360 for Anderson Cooper. (No word on why Wolf didn't handle JR's slot, too... slacker!)
And Michael Ware is back in Baghdad! I'll post something from him on Monday.

It breaks my heart to hear what is happening in Lebanon. I'm a proud Lebanese-American, born here in the US, and wheather I hear of bad news here or bad news there, it really upsets me. I visit Lebanon every Summer. I was there in 2006 during the war, and I was there in 2007 during the huge conflict. I was supposed to head over there this week, but sadly probably won't get to go this Summer becuase of the current situation. I just hope for the best.
Btw, keep up the great work with this blog, as well as the AllThingsAnderson blog. I am a huge fan of these blogs, and a huge fan of CNN. I've been addicted to CNN and these blogs for 2 years now :) Thanks for what yall do.
I hope the Arab League delegation is able to deflate tempers and restore calm in Lebanon...It worries me that the fighting has spread to other regions of the country. I have been watching BBC, since CNN domestic has had little reports as of late. The Middle East Editor of the BBC actually came under fire while filming in a pro-government stronghold in Lebanon. A few Lebanese have made claims that some of the fighters do not even speak Arabic, rather they speak Farsi...The BBC, however, has not been able to independently confirm this.
