Remembrance

NBC's Meet The Press this morning remembered Tim Russert. NBC has posted the program on their website. I was fortunate enough to be able to take the time this Father's Day to not only watch the program, but to do so with my own father. The panel this morning was made up of Tom Brokaw, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Maria Shriver, Gwen Ifill, James Carville, Mary Matalin, Betsy Fischer, and Mike Barnicle. Tom Brokaw set the tone saying that it was going to be a celebration of Russert's life, but understandably there were difficult moments.

The other Sunday morning talk shows added their own tributes. Below is a clip from CNN's Late Edition as Wolf Blitzer opened the program:

There was another passing this week, this one at CNN. Bob Coleman was an executive producer for CNN. At the end of Sunday morning's CNN Newsroom, T.J. Holmes and Betty Nguyen paid tribute to him.

BA - Nice post. Even now, Monday, when I read an article or see a piece on television - regardless of channel, I can't help but tear up still. I guess I just can't yet reconcile that he's gone.

Out industry lost two pros this week. Everyone knew the political prowess of Tim Russert from NBC. But only a few of us were lucky enough to know Bob Coleman-- an Executive Producer at CNN. He too had amazing insight and passion for news. Our business has suffered double loss and will not be quite the same without these two wonderful journalists.

I watched MTP on Sunday and it was very emotional. Hard to believe Tim Russert is no longer with us

I am Bob's first cousin. Our fathers were partners in the printing business, and Bob and I grew up together. His death was a tragic loss to journalism and to our family. Bob was a kind and gentle soul, a courageous man, and I miss him terribly.
