On Saturday, I posted several of Wilf Dinnick's reports from the area of China ravaged by the recent earthquake. Over the weekend, he and his crew went to extraordinary lengths to provide CNN viewers with an unprecedented look at the "quake lake" that threatens to hit local residents with another tragedy. When the Chinese Army refused to take them over the mountain to see it for themselves, Team Dinnick went in the hard way:

But this morning, his follow-up interview from back at the base camp was interrupted by the breaking news of Senator Kennedy's surgery:

So what's Barack Obama reading these days? Well, it's the latest book by Fareed Zakaria, The Post-American World, and I bet the senator was TiVo'ing Fareed's new CNN show on Sunday morning, too! Here's how our latest anchor introduced the first edition:

The hike with the CNN crew in China was amazing
stuff. I really enjoyed the new international program
had a little more video through out the hour. I really
enjoyed the end of the program when he showed
how the world is basically 360. The same problems
that were around almost some 300 years ago when
CNN first launched. I was just on your sister blog
ATA and listened to the 360 in 60 segments. Does
anyone know why the do not do the same with the
360 bulletins during the show on tv. I really like
the music and the writing.
I agree it's nice to have some International news (and views) back on CNN.
I also want to add that that was one determined hiking crew. Their report deserved more airtime than it got.

I read his pieces in Newsweek every week, and again, I cannot wait to get his book!!

According to Nielsen, CNN's new international news and discussion program, Fareed Zakaria — GPS debuted at No. 1 in its 1pmET time period Sunday. The show was the lead in to CNN's live coverage of the Puerto Rico primary. In the A25-54 demo, "GPS" drew 243,000 viewers. FNC had 218,000 for the hour, while MSNBC's airing of Olympic Men's Volleyball trials brought in 52,000 demo viewers.
