Guess It's Official

TJ Holmes Tweeted this morning that he won't be working weekends again for a while. He's going to take over for John Roberts' as co-anchor on American Morning beginning Monday January 3rd. No permanent anchor has been announced by CNN yet but Holmes is a strong contender. Congratulations to TJ!

There is no stronger contender than TJ....maybe Don Lemon, but please no foreign imports!!

Congrats to TJ.

I figure he will get promoted to Tony Harris anchor time slot 9-11am, if he wants to stay in Atlanta or CNN will promote him to be the PERMANENT co-anchor with Kiran on America Morning News if he wants to relocate to New York.

I meant Tony Harris spot 11-1.

Rumors circulating that Tony Harris is leaving CNN at the end year of year.

Cheers to the NYTimes for recognizing the power and influence of JON STEWART and comparing HIM to Edward R. Murrow.
HE is the one who gets to decide what issues are important and which are not, and HE is the one who pushes LEGISLATION through, that otherwise would be overlooked.
HE is the one, fake or otherwise, who decides relevancy and who is to be respected and who is to be rebuked.
HE IS the Walter Cronkite of our generation and Brian Williams seconds it.
It is ironic, that it takes a fake anchor, to make the REAL ANCHORS, Cable and otherwise, look so meaningless and self indulgent.

CNN needs to try and keep Tony Harris.
Tony, Josh Levs & Jaqui did a remarkable
job with breaking news. That is real time
news. A CNN employee was right in the
middle of it all and was there for a great
firsthand account. Real time news needs
to become a staple at CNN.I have one big
question: did CNN stream what was going
out over the air live on CNN. com so we
could watch it on the web or on a mobile
device ? CNN should provide all of it's
employees with smartphones and other
devices that permit them to be live if
possible. You can do a live shot with an
Iphone. Same thing with people being
stuck at airports due to the storm. Reach
out to people with your own employees,
Face Book, Twitter & You Tube. CNN
needs to focus on this more and not
just bloggers.CNN needs to make it so
viewers can become contributors. What
Tony Harris & CO did was awesome. It
is time for CNN to get back into the news
biz and drop the boring talk from boring
people. It is easier than ever for CNN to
reach out to viewers and people. Technology
make this possible.CNN had the magic
wall before the Ipad. Unfortunately, CNN
does not know how to use it. When CNN
is talking to people in the airports can't
they use Skype for video. Television is
a visual medium. Looking forward to the
video & pics from the ski slope.

The latest example of journalism and facts
don't matter at CNN just happened on TSR.
CNN was wrong in it's reporting of the Vick
story involving President Obama and Pat
O'brien called them out. If CNN had actually
researched the story, they would have found
out the real reason Obama called the Eagles
owner. It was about renewable energy and
Vick came up during the conversation. He
did not call the owner to talk about Vick.
This story has been known since Sunday.

CNN needs to hold on to any good anchors
they have. Right from the start CNN is losing.
AM averaged less than 200,00 yesterday with
breaking news. This week it is Kiran Chetry
and Jim Acosta. If your morning show is this
low you will have problems with dayside
ratings. People are turning on CNN. CNN
made the decision to not do news and that
destroyed their brand. CNN doing less news
is like ESPN doing less sports. Except for
ESPN knows better and would never get
away from their brand.CNN has too much
talk and it is saying nothing. You get no
news. At some point CNN will get the
message that viewers don't like what CNN
is doing and won't watch.

"at some point CNN will get the message that viewers don't like what CNN is doing and don't want to watch."
So when do you think this is going to happen???
CNN hasn't gotten the message yet and their ratings have been heading south for years.
I do agree that Tony Harris is a gem and a fine anchor and journalist, and CNN should meet his demands, but they wouldn't. They'd rather insult viewers with the likes of Piers Morgan who is now glaring at US, during his promos. Daring US to watch him. A real turn off.

I think the suits need to actually watch what
is on CNN. Instead of the the news it is more
made up stuff. Michael Vick is the starting QB
in the Pro Bowl along with Tom Brady. The fans
decided this. There is such a disconnect. Who
is CNN to sit in judgement of Michael Vick.
Given their recent hires, they need to shut up.
The same thing goes for Jessica Yelln with
Wikileaks. CNN took a huge beating on Reddit.
People notice that CNN sides with their own
pundits on their payroll and never question
what they are saying. In other words CNN is
fake news and they set things up that way.
Tv by the Numbers has some interesting data
for CNN and HLN. Both networks dropped
more than 30 % in viewers. Both are really
awful and not worth watching.

Yeah, CNN is even using the blizzard as
an excuse to use pundits and you have
to wonder what is wrong with CNN. It is
the content and not knowing what is real
news. Opinions about the blizzard ,really
CNN. How about the millions impacted
by the storm. No way. CNN would have to
actually do some reporting, which they
are incapable of these days. I know CNN
is the last channel I would turn to for
breaking news from Parker Spitzer or
Piers Morgan. The man obviously has
some issues. He is a legend in his own
mind and I won't be watching. Rachel
Maddow thanks CNN for her ratings
increase come January 2011.I know
people who are turning from CNN
already. They are annoyed by the
promos for Piers Morgan and don't
care to see them all day long.

MSNBC is humiliating CNN without even trying.
Morning joe just has Willie this week and clips
from MJ for 2010.Ed,Keith, Rachel and Lawrence
are not anchoring this week. A 4th stringer is in
on Countdown, Rachel is on tape and Last Word
is not even airing. The thing is the guy filling in
for Keith is really bad and he is topping Parker
Spitzer. That means no matter what people are
not turning to CNN for Parker Spitzer. The show
should be gone already. If CNN management is
not getting the message from viewers by now,
they never will. I am one of those viewers who
are protesting with my remote. Piers Morgan
just reminds me that I don't want to even
think about tuning in to watch CNN. Can
you hear the viewers now CNN.

@12:23PM: Very good slogan. In fact maybe CNN should use it. YOU should write to them:
PIERS MORGAN: THE MAN IS A LEGEND IN HIS OWN MIND.
Isn't that the truth?

Tucker Carlson is an idiot.
He has once again proven this by his latest statement on Fox News.
As an animal activist myself, let's set the record straight, Tucker.
President Obama NEVER got behind Michael Vick, and said he should be given a second chance, BECAUSE HE KILLED DOGS. He said he should be given a second chance to play FOOTBALL....you idiot.
I know the NYPost said the same thing and they were wrong and you've once again proven that you can't even get it right on FOX NEWS.
Good for Fox for NOT asking you back to sit in for Hannity because you are an ignorant, arrogant, pompous, personality.
Gee, did I just describe Pierce Morgan on CNN???

Anonymous said...

If Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper's promo for New Years Eve is any indication of what the actual program will be like, count half of American adults out, who might watch it.
Not only doesn't it make sense, the contractual speak is more of a bore than anything I've ever heard.
The same writer who does Piers Morgan's promos has got to have written it. Terrible with a capital T. CNN for the New Year, please fire the person doing promotions!

The Michael Vick story is the latest example
of the media exaggerating a story and turning
it into something it is not. One of the best
things CNN ever did was to drop Tucker Carlson.
The smartest thing CNN could do right away
would be to get rid of the pundits. Get back
to reporting on the level of the evening news
programs on NBC, ABC and CBS. CNN is no
longer on that level.CNN has dumbed down
the news so much that they are not even
close to being a news channel.CNN clearly
dissed their viewers by hiring Eliot Spitzer,
Kathleen Parker and Piers Morgan. There is
no way in the world any of these people
were hired for their journalism. Their
arrogance of thinking they could get away
with this is what is leading to their downfall.

Signs we will know CNN is changing in 2011.

1. CNN will actually start hiring journalists
for shows.

2. CNN will do more news than politics& pundits.
Stop putting pundits on the same stage as
your journalists. They are not equals.

3. CNN will put the news back in prime time.

4. CNN will drop the stupid panels from 360
and let the show go back to it's original
format including the bump music.

5. Josh Levs will get a 2 hour block based
on news form the web & social media.

6. CNN will have an international news hour.
Trust me on this MSNBC is looking at
doing this with RIchard Engel.

7. CNN will retire American Morning and
come up with a brand new show and
new hosts.

8. CNN will move quickly to cancel
Parker Spitzer & Piers Morgan .
As viewers continue to express
their displeasure.

9. CNN will concentrate on content
and original reporting.

10. CNN will provide real time news,
live streaming & have episodes of
shows airing on CNN, CNN I &
HLN after they air live. More than
50 % of people are discovering shows
online. CNN offer your shows for
free on CNN.com & Facebook.

11. CNN will stop being stuck in the
ideological universe and stop trying
frame stories to fit into an ideological
box. That is tired and old. Follow the
news and not the noise. Quit making
stuff up and setting up faux debates.
Viewers are left out with CNN having
talking heads waste time.It is not
relevant in the Digital Age.

12. CNN will stop focusing on boring
stories and getting news from
political blogs. Be original,creative
& innovative.

13. CNN quits morphing into FNC and
realize that news, including world
news is the star of the network.

14. If you say you are all about journalism,
walk the walk and stop parading, Your
viewers are not idiots.Research & get
the facts right,Give us back a real news
channel and have some resemblance to
a 24/7 news network..

That is when we know it is safe to watch CNN
again without our intelligence being insulted.
CNN was once considered to be smart and
informative. You saw people who knew what
they were talking about and reporters who
were excellent story-tellers and actually had
some serious journalism skills.

Tabloid news and crime is what makes CNN &
HLN a huge turnoff. Can't watch HLN after
Morning Express. Both CNN networks are being
hit by ratings drops.CNN's programs are crappy.
Set the dvr to record 360. Not worth it. Might as
well not watch 360 until the Riiculist.CNN needs
to stop interfering with video. Now they had to
add something else on XCountry. Just have the
CNN logo and have it change between CNN &
CNN.com.CNN should have dropped the crawl
5 years ago.So let's get this straight. The ratings
for HLN are heading south and you get a
promotion to CNN. Ken Jautz is not the man
to fix CNN. The man ruin HLN just like Jon
Klein destroyed CNN. Nothing CNN does
makes any sense. These guys would flunk
a basic high school business course. You
don't run your business into the ground.
The idea is for it to blossom.I fell really bad
for all of the fine journalists at CNN. They
had nothing to do with the bad decisions
by management.

Well, Pierce Morgan has done it again with his,"there's no honour amongst twits," comment in the British press recently.
Now that's a sure fire way Pierce, old boy, to NOT get that demo of young things every cable network counts on. You go boy, and let's see how long you last with you're snide, snotty, remarks here in the U. S. Of A.

Tucker Carlson was fired because of Jon Stewart.
Even back then, Jon had the smarts and the influence to get idiots like Carlson off the network.
Jon should be part of manangement, but he's not. CNN was embarrassed.
I also don't agree with dropping the "crawl."
The "crawl" is the only tagline left on CNN that actually gives you up to date news headlines that you're not getting in their programming.
If FOX still has it, it stays.
