Did CNN miss the boat on DADT. Earlier
today they said the vote would be next
week. Did they not know this was coming.
Where are the guests and the people out
of Wash DC. CNN needs to fix it's news
gathering. MSNBC is beating them badly.
You all know that CNN becomes the tea
party channel in 2011 and that will be
the end of CNN.

Something was lacking in CNN's coverage of the
DADT vote. Enjoyed the Jason Carrol doc, can't
say the same for Tiger Woods. I liked the music
segment with Don Lemon last night. I hope it
becomes a fixture on the weekends at CNN. The
same with sports in the morning with TJ. Love the
tech segments with Mario and Katie. Wish they
would do more with Josh Levs and the people at
CNN.com and the Time Newsfeed. Yesterday Josh
used the data from Time. I really hope that in the
future CNN will hire some music news reporters
to help us discover music. Douglas Cabellero
& Toure come to mind. Current TV once had
a series called Embedded. They had a crew
follow around different performers and turned
it into a performance documentary series.
IMHO viewers would like a music doc on
weekends instead of celebrities and crime
for an half hour mini doc before news.
Finally, can Morning Passport become an
hour long daily show on CNN. I always learn
something with Nadia. She is very good at
story telling.

2011 is only days away. The ratings really
don't matter right now as 2010 comes to an
end. Around the 2nd week in Jan 2011 is when
people will come back to cable news. Somehow
I think there will be fewer eyeballs for all of the
major television networks. One of the best items
selling this Xmas is Google TV. Let's hope when
2011 comes CNN will return to it's roots and
embrace news, news and news. People are
consuming news and information more than
ever. CNN has the resources. now if they
could have a vision to make CNN the world's
largest source for news. People consume
news and information but not opinion.CNN
needs to adjust to the 21st century as we
move into the 2nd decade of the 21st
century. Merry Christmas & Happy New
Year to all. Thanks for this blog and all
of your hard work in keeping us informed
about our favorite news channel.

CNN is using an outdated business model.
Mashable has a great article about what
will happen with the news media in 2011.
CNN needs to find a way to make their
news interactive and informative. Ken Jautz
is turning CNN into HLN, he said so in the
WSJ.If only CNN would hire a social media
team and hire an executive to overhaul CNN
and take them in the right direction. It is the
same tired old stuff on CNN. It would be
great if Pete could run CNN. There is a
huge disconnect.I am telling you now, one
of the best things CNN can do is to go with
a viewer contributed news show and hook
viewers connect with CNN reports from
CNN, CNN I and CNN.com.No politics.
Cable news can no longer afford to ignore
millions of people, unless they want to
become irrelevant.

USA Today is reporting that CNN BEAT Fox News, you heard that right, on Thursday, with LK's final tribute show, which carried over into 360's total average.
As I've said before, right here on ATC...if CNN could find some way to resurrect Larry, every time they needed a lift, which IS every nite, they'd have the answer to their rating woes and it was right in front of them all this time.

CNN thinks their programming is not the problem
They think people actually want to watch Piers
Morgan and Parker Spitzer.

CNN thinks antics and theatrics will get ratings
and they don't get how sleazy and tabloidish
they now are.

CNN thinks talking heads who are factless and
wrong about everything will save the network
and they can fool people into thinking it makes
them the worldwide news leader.

CNN thinks dumbing down the news= ratings.

The article in WSJ just shows how pathetic
the logic is at Time Warner. They are idiots.

Jon Klein laid the dynamite, now Ken Jautz
will implode the news organization.

Boycott CNN. If you don't care about your
customers/viewers, they will find other
sources. Diss viewers at your own peril.

The combo of Parker Spitzer & Piers Morgan
could see CNN getting lower than 100, 000
in the demo. Neither of them will ever get
higher ratings than the shows they replace.
Who wants to watch 2 really bad shows.CNN
needs to understand you connect with your
viewers by the people you put in the chair.
CNN is going to be 5th for sure.

I'm of the opinion that CNN KNOWS what the critics think about Parker/Spitzer and Piers Morgan and they are in denial, like they were up until the time they HAD to fire Klein.
We saw it coming a year ago, and it
took them all that time to get rid of him only to hire someone equally as incompetent who heads HLN. Why?
Now it will be more trashy than ever. Especially when you send memos alleging the "News" is no longer the star and you're a news network. Ted Turner would have been shocked...or maybe not.

The latest Piers Morgan promo is even more repugnant than the last.
He peers at you, almost daring the viewer to watch him take over.
It is apparent from what little I've seen of him, that he has nothing in common with American viewers.
He doesn't know their habits, their tastes, their likes or dislikes and most importantly, he can't relate. If there's no common ground to build a relationship, then there's no relationship and NO reason to watch his show. It's that simple and CNN couldn't figure it out.

Cheers to this weeks TV Guide for Jeering CNN's hire of Piers Morgan.
They aptly alluded to the fact that CNN's LK was an icon, who was replaced by a British tabloid personality with NO journalistic background. Right On CNN or is Left On. Oh that's right you're some place in the middle, with no audience.
