Michael Ware has left CNN

Michael Ware has confirmed to me that he has left CNN, although he is not yet ready to disclose discussions about plans for his return to US television.

That said, he has other projects cooking as well. He is currently working very hard on something that I am confident everyone will agree will have been worth the wait. (This is not the book; that is still percolating. This is something new and very, very exciting.)

So, while he is hard at work elsewhere, I just wanted to take a moment to look back on the incredible work he did for CNN. This is just a small sample of where he has taken us while working for them, especially of his most important legacy as a reporter -- his astonishing coverage of the Iraq war. We were so fortunate to have such an honest voice on the ground to give us the truth behind the painful headlines.

(This clip is too large for Blogger, so please click here to watch it on my site.)

His voice may no longer be coming into our living rooms every day, but you can bet he won't stay silent for long!

Another great loss for CNN. I wish him well, though!

Michael Ware has been the most authentic voice of war zone coverage that CNN has ever had. Not that they don't have other outstanding talent - but Ware offered insight that no one else could ... or would offer.

His repots were full of detail, understanding and intimacy. He offered a clear view of "the big picture" as well as compelling stories of individuals. I trusted him. He was smart and he was honest ... sometimes almost defiantly so.

He will be sorely missed.

Wishing him all the best.

he said "the abandonment of principals that we in the west hold so dear"... that basically sums it up michael...i am sickened that we are still fighting, and i am sickened that so few have the balls to do what michael did...
best wishes to you michael, glad you made it out alive and look forward to hearing more from you...

Miss your reporting Michael. No one will ever come close because you were beyond journalism. You are an extraordinary man with a purpose and a rare gift to communicate and connect with people.
