LOL! That was funny!
TVnewser is reporting that Roland Martin and Donna Brazile's time at CNN will soon be up, following Mary Matalin and James Carville out the door. I'm thrilled Roland Martin might leave, never was a fan, always full of himself, but I would be sad to see Donna Brazile leave.
Funny . We all know that Jeff Zucker will be making changes eventually dayside. Please don't touch Newsroom International with Suzanne Malveaux. That's
my favorite edition of Newsroom. It needs to be on Monday-Sunday at noon on CNN. I miss the international news that CNN used to show on Sunday.
I love the Newsroom International program. It should be expanded to 2 hours. I also prefer Michael Holmes as host.
Letterman did not have a pleasant experience with
Jeff Zucker over the Tonight Show.
Newsroom International could be better with a different newsreader Suz Malveaux is horrible. All the dayside newsreaders are bad on CNN especially Suz and Brooke Boldwin.
I like Suzanne. She does just fine anchoring News Room
International. Good to see CNN carrying live events again. Yes, Beyonce can sing live.
CNN might want to think about letting Erin Burnett go. Her ratings have been heading south for the last 2 days. If she is doing that poorly at 7 PM, there is no way
in the world viewers are going to start magically watching CNN.
According to TV by the Numbers Early Start didn't do too bad for the show yesterday, Soledad had 248,000
viewers with 143,000 in the demo. She had 2X the demo than Erin Burnett had at 7 PM. Out Front had
371,000 viewers with 71,000 in the demo. Can you say backlash. Maybe they should be trying to re-format SP by dropping the pundits and trying some
different things. Out Front is worse than SP. CNN is setting Chris Cuomo up for failure.
David Letterman has had enough of his own problems on his own show, personal and otherwise.
It is easy to be critical of someone on another network and safe.
Some of his list was funny and some of it was just plain stupid.
#10, was the best and from there, it went downhill, Dave.
When will CNN get rid of Dana Loesch and Ari Fleischer? I hope they're next on the chopping block. Donna Brazile always had a calm, civil presence that I will miss on CNN.
CNN could learn many things from NPR, news about it all. News worldwide, music, culture, science, technology,
books, films. It's a learning experience. CNN could start by surrounding their talent with their own journalists ,get out in the world and find some news and stories that are all being ignored by news channels. CNN has a golden opportunity if they play their cards right. FOX and MSNBC are so heavily invested in ideology that they can't bring in new viewers. CNN could offer diverse programming that engages viewers. Stop making up fake news, there is plenty of real news out there. You don't get much news or decent programming. CNN has to get itself off of the Crossfire mentality.
Yet another CNN fail. There is breaking news of a
suicide bomber attack outside of the U.S. Embassy in
Turkey. Soledad O'brein has pundits, one from the
Blaze spreading rumors of a connection between
Iran and Turkey. That's right CNN thinks Glenn Beck
is a foreign affairs news operation. Apparently, CNN
is still into pundits all of the time. Where is Christianne
Amanpour ?
I hope the bring back TJ & Betty for a revamped edition of Newsroom right after the new morning show. I really miss the best news duo that CNN had, Tj & Betty have a chemistry & energy that is genuine. Both are available.
Donaa Brazille was on with Wolf Blitzer yesterday so I
don't know if many rumors are actually true. CNN
does need a different approach to politics, striking a
more civil tone. Donna Brazille is a class act. CNN
seems to love to bring on former Bush administration
people to just come on and bash all things Obama.
Move on CNN the election is over. Pundits should
never outnumber journalists. CNN needs to put up
a firewall. The pundits should only be on political
shows not news shows. Jake Tapper, John King, Tom
Forman and Candy Crowley should be on 360 Do
you all remember when Raw Politics used to be a
really cool package with great writing. Get back to
the packages. Pundits don't work on 360.
I follow TJ and Betty on Twitter. Mr. Zucker please
bring them back to CNN. They could be a better lead in
for 360 and help CNN draw the college crowd like TRMS
does for MSNBC. Have the show based in NYC. I am a
fan of Newsroom International too. The show is on my
DVR list. Leave the show alone. Don't mess up a good
thing.
Any chance that Steve Capus will join Jeff Zucker at CNN ? TVN says he is leaving NBC NEWS by choice. Makes you wonder if we are looking at the next CNN news president.
They are also announcing a promotion for Ivan Watson. With AJE getting into the 24/7 cable business in America, CNN needs to cover more international news. It would be nice to see News Stream with Kristie Lu Stout and CNN News Center with Isha Sesay carried by CNN domestic. Go ahead and hire Marianna Van Zeller, Christof Putzel, Kaj Larsen and Adam Yamaguchi as correspondents at CNN. The Vanguard reporters find stories from all around the globe that MSM misses for some strange
reason. I like that Jeff Zucker is hiring actual journalists. CNN has not be doing that in recent years.
The sports division is good too for CNN. NBC and CBS are already pushing with their own sports networks. CBS is even using Showtime for a 60 Minutes sports show. Hope they hire Sage Steele
from ESPN too.
CNN should do an ensemble edition of News Room featuring Tj Holmes, Betty Nguyen, Miguel Marquez, Poppy Harlow and Nicole Lapin. Instead of News Room call the show Generation New(S). Solo anchors should only be on for 1 hour. 2 anchor formats are outdated right along with the double box. A news show featuring the next generation of journos. This is a diverse group of journos who know how to make the news rock on multiple platforms. I agree CNN should do the same thing with a group of diverse female journalists in prime time.
Unfortunately for CNN # 5 is turning out to be true way too often. Erin Burnett and Jessica Yellin just got a WH smackdown for their stupidity about skeet shooting. The WH tweeted out a photo I thin it is a tie between he and Beyonce for who put media morons in their pladc. CNN there is no backlash against Beyonce but there is against CNN for just making stuff up while ignoring the
facts. When you make accusations against people you better come correct because people won't let you fool them too many times. That is why CNN is losing viewers.
Also, Will Cain made false statements on the Turkey explosion. So now no one trusts CNN on international news and the are losing ground to BBC and Al Jazeera. Facts matter to these legit news rogs but CNN is factually challenged and is being a laughing stock worldwide. There is a joke making the rounds that whenever anyone says I saw it on CNN, someone responds that is why you don't know what your are taking about.
CNN can't be saved because they wrongly think their problems are cosmetic. It is about trust and credibility which are both in short supply on CNN.
The insert new anchors all they want but it won't stop the ratings slide. It is more about what CNN has become, which is not worth watching because it is a waste of time for anyone with brain cells. CNN does not have the right to misinform. Good riddance.
Since when is Will Cain qualified to inform the viewers on the goings on regarding the Middle East? So he is an expert on politics, business, gun control and now the Middle East amongst everything else?
Will Cain is a just a smuck with an opinion yet CNN treats him as he is some sort of king.
The CNN execs are too busy showcasing who and what they want to see instead of paying attention to the viewers.
CNN management deserves much of the blame for the morning show disaster aka Starting Point. It is not about Soledad turning off viewers. It's more about people like Will Cain having a major role in the show. I hate to say it but Chris Cuomo and Jake Tapper are going to have the same problem because viewers are upset with CNN. Rachel Nichols might escape due to her having a sports show and these would likely be sports fans watching CNN. Viewers are not going to watch a morning show or political show on CNN because they will think it is more of the same old stuff from CNN. Now it might work if you have an ensemble like GMA or CBS Morning. They look like they enjoy bring us the news and they are really a news team. You don't see that on Today.
I have some observations watching CNN this morning .
CNN needs more of John Berman. I miss his unique
brand of story-telling on GMA that I have yet to see
CNN capitalize on.
How come Alina Cho and Joe Carter are not in the studio for the full 2 hours with Soledad. Since so
much time being devoted to the Super Bowl, why
go with pundits. Sure CNN is canceling Starting
Point but that does not mean making adjustments
to the show. CNN is repeating the same mistakes
form the other morning show fiasco featuring
Alis Velshi, Carol Costello and Christine Romans.
Chris Farley makes sense but not the others.
Enough with he Chuck Hagel silliness. The man
will be the next Defense Secretary so give it a
rest CNN. It's over. All of the other stuff means
nothing. End of story : he will be confirmed.
Don Lemon did the same silly mess yesterday.
If CNN is gong to incorporate social media . data journalism, etc into the news, please hire Conor Knighton to pull this off. He did that for Current TV. Also, go for David Neuman who was in charge at the launching of Current TV. Initially, Current TV was way ahead of all networks in bringing together new and traditional media. Bring in Knighton , Max Lugavere, Jason Silva and Brett Erlich. I would be happy to see a news version of Infomainia on CNN at 7 PM.
The ratings for cable news seem be going down, just look at what TVN has for Friday. Granted it was Super Bowl weekend but FOX's ratings so far this year has to be raising some concerns. Yes they have more viewers than CNN or MSNBC but watching that gradual decrease in viewers can't be ignored. It makes you wonder if MSNBC will get too close for comfort. At this point CNN is a non-factor. Pretty soon it is going to get warmer outside. That means fewer eyeballs than now. Ironically, at the same time CNN gets a weekend makeover in April . This was in place before Jeff Zucker was on picked to run CNN.
The new morning and sports show will be his new
gigs. When we get to see these shows we will learn about his news philosophy. He says he wants to expand the meaning of news. What does that exactly mean and what will it look like on CNN ? Zucker has to completely rebuild and restructure CNN. That is gong to take a whole lot of time. I hope he gives the people involved in every CNN show a major homework assignment. Come up with a thesis for how to improve your individual shows. Experiment to find out what works. Test it and see what happens. After collecting data come up with a plan.
