Crossfire & AC 360° Later Debut on Monday, Sept. 16

CNN to debut Crossfire, AC 360° Later on Monday, Sept. 16
Wolf Blitzer Adds Anchoring 1 p.m. Hour of CNN’s Newsroom to his Situation  Room Role

CNN today announced that Crossfire, hosted by Newt Gingrich, Stephanie Cutter, S.E. Cupp and Van Jones, will debut Monday, Sept. 16 at 6:30 p.m. ET. Also, AC 360° Later, a new prime time program, will air Monday through Thursday at 10 p.m. ET.
Crossfire, the classic debate program, will resemble the show’s original format withpassionate conversation and focus on topical events of the day. The daily, 30-minute program will feature two hosts and guests each night, discussing a range of issues from all sides of the political and cultural spectrum. In addition to the weekday show, the Crossfire co-hosts will appear across the network’s programming.
The centerpiece of AC 360° Later will be a provocative and informed panel conversation, focusing on the day’s news and events. The program will be hosted by Anderson Cooper and will feature a range of opinions and points-of-view from guests and newsmakers. The show will also include CNN correspondents, analysts and commentators plus a special guest each night.
In addition to anchoring The Situation Room from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Wolf Blitzer will add the 1 p.m. hour of Newsroom to his anchor responsibilities beginning Monday, Sept. 16.
Crossfire, which aired weeknights from 1982 to 2005, examined political and social issues in a televised debate. Conservative Pat Buchanan and liberal Tom Braden were the original hosts of the program, but over the years Crossfire featuredvarious hosts from the right and from the left, including Robert Novak, Tucker Carlson, James Carville and Paul Begala. Guests on the program were frequently top lawmakers from across the political spectrum, but also included an eclectic mix of other personalities: Bob Hope, Rupert Murdoch, Charlton Heston, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Dr. Jack Kevorkian, Rush Limbaugh, Christopher Reeves, Arianna Huffington and Howard Cosell. As the preeminent political talk program, Crossfire cemented its status in the political and cultural lexicon when President Bill Clinton joked during hisremarks at the 1997 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner that the newly opened Newseum featured an exhibit with “CNN’s very first Crossfire-- from the left, Alexander Hamilton, from the right, Aaron Burr, topic, gun control.”

Jeff Zucker began his CNN presidency on the new year. By two years in January 2015, everything might not have worked out to his expectations so I think it would be best for CNN US to be replaced by CNN International. All the popular domestic anchors will stay put though like Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper, and Chris Cuomo. The Situation Room and AC360º are simulcasted on both networks anyway, not to mention major breaking news, political events such as elections and debates. All are simulcasted. I strongly feel that Americans crave more international news anyway. I don’t see too much of it on CNN US.

Disaster for CNN. 4 partisan hacks with lousy TV skills. Been there , done that. Remember Elliot Spitzer. CNN's political team just got worse. CNN is toast. So Newt Gingrich< Van Jones, Stephanie Cutter and SE Cupp will bring viewers to CNN. Not.
So not gonna work. You are about to hear the word scratch a lot when it comes to CNN. That means the ratings are so bad that it's not worth it.

CNN is going to have depressed ratings at 4,5,6 & 7
PM. 360 can not make up 4 hours of hardly any viewers and that means Anderson Cooper is about to start losing to Chris Hayes. Not because of anything MSBC but dues to bad decisions that CNN made. CNN is their own worst enemy Let me get this straight. CNN expects viewers to watch Jake Tapper,Wolf Blitzer, Crossfire & Erin Burnett. CNN the gift that just keeps giving.

Panels are always a complete disaster on CNN. They don't work. Watch, 360 Later will always have someone on from Crossfire, orders from management. These panels are working so well for HLN. By the way CNN could end up behind HLN and at times they will be in 5th lagging behind CNBC.

360 at 10, no video or news. Just boring annoying talking heads that give out misinformation. Does anyone really believe that CNN will have more reporters, people who know their stuff who can engage in smart intelligent conversation who can be fun and energetic to give viewer a pleasant experience. No way. You will only get left vs right taking points. Same tired old CNN. Watch viewers flee. Here comes the CNN collapse. Hopefully, some tech billionaire with buy CNN and save the network but come 2014 CNN will be in worse shape. The big question is how long the bosses will let the downfall go on.

Forgot to mention how poorly PMT has been performing. He goes down from the 8 PM hour of 360 so the last thing 360 at 10 needs to be is a pundit panel, who are not qualified to give accurate info because that is not their purpose. Oh yeah, 360 at 10 will have professors, writers, authors, filmmakers, journalists, real experts. Impossible. Gingrich, Cupp,Jones and Cutter are on the CNN payroll. So that means 1 or 2 of them will be on with Anderson Coper each night. By December you will see articles on the failures of CNN and heads will roll. History is repeating with Jeff Zucker, 2 for 2 when it comes to wrecking networks..

Glad to see the live 2nd hour of 360 but I do have
some questions : Will it be like 360 did with the
Zimmerman trial or will it be about the news ? is
there going to be a kick butt open with an opening
essay from Anderson highlighting the big news stories of the day with updates and new content,
talking to viewers ending with the 1st topic on 360
Later ? Will Anderson hold down fort and not permit
his show to be used for propaganda, cheap shots or
personal attacks ? Will it be interactive like Take Part ? Everyone plays Jeopardy.
It is great at using questions to have interaction with
viewers ? Will it have chemistry like the Talk ? Will music be a part of the show ? Will there be interviews ? Will there be real time elements that can be incorporated in the show ? Will it end with the news, video and topics you will be talking about the next day ? I would like to know more about the show.

I am loooking forward to AC 360 Later. I assume it will be like the show he had with Cristianne Amanpour and Jeffrey Toobin. The big problem with CNN is Piers Morgan. They need to move him to the weekends and replace him with maybe Strombo. I have not seen enough of Strombo though to know whether he would be a good fit. Also Carol Costello should go to weekends too and be replaced by Brianna.

The first panel shows that 360 tried for a week with Christianne Amanpour and others were good. I don't know what the new shows will be like and I have similar reservations that others here have already expressed, but I do like the idea of a panel show and hope they do it right.

Meanwhile, the big Benghazi special is being ripped apart as inaccurate and filled with "shocking revelations" that have been debunked and dismissed MONTHS ago. Burnett claims that the administration was focused on reelection and not getting to the bottom of what happened in Benghazi which is ludicrous. Media Matters says the entire doc plays like a conservative witch hunt aimed at the Obama Administration. Is this really the journalistic direction CNN wants to take now. What about integrity, credibility and factual reporting???

I don't like the name "AC360° Later". It should be something like "360°plus".

The 1:00PM hour should be titled “Happening Now with Wolf Blitzer” OR “Wolf Blitzer Reports”, just like his previous program before The Situation Room.

Burnett is a hack - always has been. I don't know why CNN hired her. She was a Wall Street fluffer and that's why she was popular on CNBC. It was a joke to think she would ever get to the truth about benghazi.

Piers Morgan had Carl Bernstein on of Watergate fame from the Nixon era and he seemed glad that WAPO was sold to the Amazon King.
However Berstein's rare appearance made me wonder what this man did with all his money. I realize he must be about 70, but you'd think that he would have at least brightened his teeth for his first HD appearance in many years. Maybe he's beyond caring, but it does made a difference to the viewers, especially now, when everything and everyone, is under scrutiny.

Jeff Zucker is the wrong person to be running CNN. He does not have any fresh ideas. The ratings for New Day are starting to look like Starting Point. His solution is to bring back Crossfire. This is going to end badly. Erin Burnett does not have any credibility she is always called out for getting the story wrong. Click. CNN has forgotten it's news history. Innovators don't do what FNC is doing ,bring back Crossfire or have a Nancy Grace hour at 11 AM. It will be interesting to see how low the ratings will go for CNN. I will wait to see what 360 Later will look like. It is going to come down to content & guests. Grumpy old ideologues are not watching TV at 10. Gen X & Millennials don't like partisan hacks. Neither do women. If 360 Later is dominated by politics and crime, it will fail.

CNN no longer wants Latinos, Blacks or Asians in the
anchor seat on weekdays. CNN is a segregated network. Minority anchors can only be on CNN on weekends. Sounds like bad policy.

What is up with CNN saying Jay Leno, Jon Stewart,
Stephen Colbert and David Letterman are lightweights
when in comes to interviewing President Obama. All
are news junkies and are well informed In many ways,
they are better journalists than CNN. None of them
treat talking points as facts. CNN does.

SO true 10:36 am. It's a sad thing when non-news programs do a better job of reporting with actual facts than the supposed news channel. The Benghazi report is one of many examples of CNN getting their facts wrong and apparently not caring as long as they think the narrative works for them.

How about a Keeping Them Honest segment on GOP Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell, who is currently embroiled in a big scandal. Drew Griffin and Anderson Cooper are very interested in exposing how taxpayer dollars are being wasted and there's a goldmine in that story, why won't they cover it?

@10;46AM: Jay Leno, David Lettermen, and Jon Stewart ARE NOT ANCHORS. They ALL ARE COMEDIANS.
There is a difference between a comedian that IS SMART, and an anchor who just sits and reads the teleprompter, and or a reporter who now just looks at his ipad or iphone to see what's up.
Jay, David and Jon are all lightweights because they are supposed to be. They are NOT PAID to be investigative reporters no matter who they interview, even the President.
