FTVLive Reporting Big Changes at HLN

FTVLive is reporting that major layoffs have gone down at HLN.

Word is that people are being called into meetings in two different rooms. The people in one room are keeping their job. People in the other room are being pink slipped.
Word is that CNN Boss Jeff Zucker is moving all high-level editorial staff for CNN to New York.
HLN is moving from a news channel to much more entertainment based.
Albie Hecht is the head of HLN sent this memo to the staff:
Team:
Today, I’m announcing programming changes to HLN’s dayside line-up. Effective November 18, these changes serve as a principal step as we continue to re-position the brand.
HLN’s new 6 a.m.-12 midnight schedule is as follows:
6 a.m.-12 noon ET: Morning Express with Robin Meade
12 noon-1 p.m. ET: Showbiz Tonight (repeat from previous day)
1-5 p.m. ET: News Now
5-6 p.m. ET: What Would You Do?
6-7 p.m. ET: Showbiz Tonight (LIVE, 5th floor NY newsroom)
7-8 p.m. ET: Jane Velez-Mitchell
8-9 p.m. ET: Nancy Grace
9-10 p.m. ET: Dr. Drew On Call (M-Th, Mystery Detectives Fri)
10-11 p.m. ET: HLN After Dark (M-Th, Mystery Detectives Fri)
11 p.m.-12 midnight: Showbiz Tonight (6 p.m. replay)

The programming shift also includes new assignments for some of our talent. News Now will be anchored by a rotation of Mike Galanos, Susan Hendricks, Christi Paul and Lynn Berry. In the coming weeks, we’ll have additional announcements about other talent impacted by these changes.
While change is necessary to evolve HLN, it is also difficult. A handful of our family members will be impacted by today’s news. I know that I speak for all of us when I offer a heartfelt thank you and my sincere appreciation for their commitment.
In the six weeks since I’ve joined HLN, I’ve been continually impressed with your professionalism and passion. We have a real opportunity to grow the HLN brand; let’s get started.
Albie
UPDATE: Sources tell FTVLive that as much as 40% of the staff is gone from HLN. HLN shows Raising America and Evening Express have been canceled. Also we now hear that 'Now in America' is also being scrubbed from the schedule.
Changes effective November 18th.

Kyra Phillips should return to CNN.

So this can only mean that CNN is scaling back it;s news resources. Are they willing to concede the hard news to AlJazeera ? Let's face it AlJazeera does an amazing job covering news in America. If this is going on at HLN what does this mean down the line for CNN ?

HLN is turning into an entertainment network. Some of the news shows have to stick around since it is sold as a news channel. It seems like it will be like Pivot, an entertainment network with some news oriented shows for programs too. However, most shows will be of the entertainment genre.

Ouch. The Huffington Post put together a
collection of the articles on CNN's recent
low ratings. Can you say pile on. The betting
is that CNN is done. If CNN can't get huge
ratings with breaking news, you no the future
is bleak for CNN. Viewers have turned on CNN.
Management really messed up. A major problem
is the crappy reporting and misinformation.

CNN needs to take immediate action the same way. Get with it Jeff.

Wait. Didn't the press release say HLN was doing soooo well. Why would there be lay offs? Did Jeff lie?
Hey, I believe everything I read.

Unfortunately for CNN, Jeff Zucker has made it hard to take CNN seriously anymore. The circus atmosphere with the pundits make the anchors & reporters look bad and is completely unwatchable. Just think about all of the dumb stuff we get if we try to watch CNN. I can't watch CNN anymore. I am a huge fan of AJAM and PIVOT. I no longer respect CNN with the exception of Anthony Bourdain. Growing up CNN was always the news network of choice but now CNN is just bad, really bad. CNN dissed viewers and now they are suffering the consequences.

I'm surprised that AJA has not put Richelle Carey on during the morning or day on Mon-Fri. She anchored on HLN daily. Carey would be a familiar face to cable news viewers. When you look at the changes at HLN , that would be a smart move to have Carey on daily. AJA also needs to bring back Vanguard. It's no secret that CNN/HLN are in trouble. With HLN going with repeats and fewer live hours, AJA has an opportunity.
I have been watching AJA this morning, tied of politics ,the network has revamped it's format. AJA is now live with news at the top of every hour. Decided to use the programming guide ,discovered AJA is different every hour.

According to TVN, AJA is at # 98, they have a long hard road. CNN might be making the same mistakes they made by misjudging MSNBC. It's way to early to judge AJA. it's still a baby having only been around since August 20, 2013. AJA would likely catch HLN or FBN 1st.

CNN has lost all credibility. This announcement
from HLN means that CNN is cutting back. AJAM
please hire TJ Holmes and Betty Nguyen for your
new morning show. They just might beat New Day.
TJ & Betty were a popular duo for CNN. Both have
news cred and recognizable faces. AJAM has some
good shows and content. As a news junkie I am
pulling for AJAM. I DVR America Tonight and The
Stream ( make the show an hour and cover more
topics ). Instead of just weekly AJAM should also
launch a daily sports highlight show. Create a
brand new 16-54 demo. I'm giving up on CNN.

Coming to you in 2014, a CNN collapse. A Jeff Zucker production sponsored by Time Warner.

Apparently no one can fix CNN.

Yesterday I posted something about NJ being misrepresented as a RED state by CNN and for some reason it was not posted.
I do not know why because it was presented as bright red, and after living in NJ for forty years, I think I know a little more about the way NJ thinks than some of the pundits or so called experts, like John King, think when they vote.
Chris Christie won big because he went towards the middle to get funding for the Jersey Shore and took advantage of a photo op with Obama. He also shows leadership skills which is sorely lacking inn both parties, including the Tea Party which is laughable.
The GOP better stop catering to "Rand Paul's" of their party and look towards the Chris Christie's if they plan to win anymore seats.
The ELECTORATE, which the Tea Party does NOT SPEAK FOR, has spoken. They want someone that can get things done for the good of the majority and NOT the party.
And NJ is not a red state, CNN.
It is still BLUE, and Tea Party candidates are not welcome.
