Well,2014 is now here. let's see what unfolds for
CNN,MSNBC,FNC & AJAM. FNC has already made
it's changes so MSNBC & CNN are next. AJAM is
suppose to be launching some new shows.
I'm pulling for AJAM. Richelle Carey should be anchoring Prime News at 8 and Ray Saurez would be a much better host for Consider This at 10 PM. America Tonight is fine with Joie Chen, who once was with CNN just like Carey. Without a doubt Richelle Carry and Ray Saurez would improve their prime time ratings. 360 is the only show I can take on CNN.
it's simple focus more on consumers/viewers and content. Instead of panels go to the people who are a part of the story being covered. Move beyond ideology and embrace intelligent conversation, Original reporting and interviews with newsmakers matter more than the latest media made up controversy. Journalists meed to be journalists do reporting that matters to viewers.
I see that Anderson Cooper will be interviewing Chris Kluwe tonight. Good. What he wrote for Deadspin is news. 360 needs to get back to being 360 and not Crossfire. Honestly, it's not like viewers are interesting in Crossfire.
Variety has an interesting article on AJAM and how the network is becoming the envy of the news industry. AJAM has 12 bureaus in the United States and are said to be adding more. It's impossible for CNN ,MSNBC or FOX to match AJAM when it comes to resources and reporting. CNN has to decide what it wants to be and what is their mission. News still has to be at the heart of CNN. I have to agree with Spud at ICN. CNN has to be really careful and try not to alienate their viewers. AJAM is around now. Viewers will eventually discover AJAM and CNN will be at risk. I know everyone talks about how small the number of viewers are who are tuning into AJAM. It took Current TV 8 years to get to 35,000 viewers so AJAM having some 13,000- 18,000 viewers does not matter. Al Gore needed funding. Money is no problem for AJAM. The network is willing to invest in news.
AJAM's reports on Iraq,Syria and South Sudan is must see TV. Most Americans still do not know that AJAM is on the dial. AJAM is a startup that needs an audience.
Networks like AJAM and BBC deserve a special status like CSPAN. They serve a purpose. Americans need access to real news that you can no longer get from cable news, network news nor newspapers or news magazines.
Richelle was very popular at HLN. I can't believe
that she anchors on weekends for AJA. That's a
big mistake already along with the annoying
crawl just like the rest of cable news. Drop the
crawl. When you do as much news as AJA, do you
really need a crawl ? Would like to see them look
more like the AJ+ LAB videos on You Tube. Please
be different. Tony Harris & Ali are also on AJA.
This week is when cable news gets back into full swing for 2014. ESPN has the BCS Championship tonight so cable news will take a hit. Right now we really don't know anything for this year.
