As I've had to say for the past few weeks, once again FOX has the highest Adults 25 - 54 demographic for the week in all three prime time hours. But this week, we welcome CNN Headline News (HLN) to the ratings chart. HLN's Nancy Grace had the second highest demo ratings during both the 8PM and 10PM hours. This pushed MSNBC's Countdown to third place during the 8PM hour and CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 to the third place during the 10PM hour.

Saturday, August 16, 2008 CNN, FOX, and MSNBC aired the Saddleback Presidential Candidates Forum. FOX came out ahead with the Adults 25 -54 demographic over the 2 hour program. One note about the programming... during the 7PM hour, CNN is the only station that had special programming related to the forum. During the 10PM hour, both CNN and FOX ran special programming. Although FOX had the highest demographic rating during the post forum programming, CNN retained 75% of their demo audience and 74% of their total audience while FOX only retained 62% of the demo and 69% of the total audience.

1 4 day average. MSNBC Friday special programming excluded.

I'm not suprised that AC 360 finished third, the progam has been pretty bad lately. I noticed, however, that the ratings are much higher when John King or C. Brown is sitting in for Anderson Cooper.

John King has an edge over Anderson
Cooper, at least until election time is over. He knows politics! He's better at analysis and his magic wall proves this. The NYT noted in 2004, Cooper needed help in "political assessment." Unfortunately, he still does and his ratings show it.
