Saturday Survivors

Following the dramatic transition of an Airbus into a waterbus on the Hudson River Thursday afternoon, Dr. Sanjay Gupta finally reappeared on CNN for the first time since news leaked that he is being considered for the position of Surgeon General in the new administration. He discussed how hypothermia's effect on the human body:

Wednesday brought a new audiotape from Osama bin Laden, which meant a round of appearances from Peter Bergen (who is still in NOLA). The first two -- one by phone:

And the second, in person:

Finally, a transition to the Transition ... Phil Black has a look at reaction to the Barack Obama figure at Madame Tussaud's in London:

Where in the World...?

SATURDAY: Nic Robertson and Ben Wedeman are still at the Israel/Gaza border; Karl Penhaul is still in Rafah, Egypt.

SUNDAY: Paula Hancocks is still at the Israel/Gaza border.

MONDAY: Suzanne Malveaux is outside the White House as Inaugural preparations get the finishing touches; John Zarella was in Little Rock, Arkansas to begin a week of reports from sites crucial to the Civil Rights movement.

TUESDAY: Larry King hosted from DC, as he will for the next two weeks; John Z was at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis.

WEDNESDAY: John King is in Washington; Peter Bergen was on from NOLA to discuss the OBL tape; John Z was at "Ole Miss" in Oxford, Mississippi.

THURSDAY: Ben finally made it into Gaza, reporting from Rafah (above; taken Friday); John Z was at the home of Medgar Evers in  Jackson, Mississippi; Campbell Brown was in for Anderson Cooper.

FRIDAY: John K was in Cleveland to interview P-E Obama; TJ Holmes was in Charlotte, North Carolina to interview survivors of the plane crash who have already flown home; Fredricka Whitfield was in for Kyra Phillips; Soledad O'Brien was in for Anderson Cooper.

Best wishes to John King and the denizens (I love that word!) of the DC Bureau as they begin the new Sunday programming as well as playing host to half the free world for the next couple of days! As amazing as it would be to be there in person, judging by the crowds and the weather, I'm much happier to have a front-row seat in my living room! I hope all the CNN crews watched Sanjay's report on hypothermia and make sure nobody's ears freeze off!

I wonder what Peter is up to in NO?

It's nice that there is so much praise for the pilot that brought the plane down so safe.

Mavis, I was wondering the same thing about PB...For a while, I thought he moved there.

I have to say I missed Miles O'brien analysis during the plane crash coverage...He was the Sanjay Gupta of aviation...CNN should have kept him on as a consultant.

Thanks for the post Cyn..I am looking forward to King's new show. :)
