On 6/9 Betty Nguyen was honored with a Andrew Heiskell Community Service Award for outstanding volunteer achievement by a Time Warner employee. The award was given in recognition of her work with Help the Hungry, an organization she established to provide humanitarian aid to impoverished areas in Vietnam, where she is from. Also recognized was Kay Madati, CNN's VP of Audience Experience, who is the founder and chairman of the board of trustees of Brooklyn Excelsior Charter School in NY. The school was opened in 2003 by Kay and six others and now serves more than 700 kids from kindergarden through eighth grade.
