Say Goodbye to Rick Sanchez

Another big CNN breaking story, that's 3 in the last 7 days! Rick Sanchez has been thanked for his years of service to the network and shown the door for his comments on Pete Dominick's satellite radio show on Thursday. After being the brunt of one too many Jon Stewart skits Sanchez called Stewart a bigot and then took on the media, Jewish influences and let's just say it went downhill from there. Mediaite has the clip, just follow the link.

I am soooo gleeful about this I can't put it into words.
All I have to say in defense of Jon, is that he is a good friend of Jorge Lopez, so Sanchez will get very little support from the Hispanic community.
Jon Stewart was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth, as he implied, but he is everything Sanchez isn't! Educated, funny and smart...and there are lot of educated people who do nothing with their lives and he never had it easy.
GOOD FOR CNN'S NEW MANAGEMENT! YOU ROCK!

Hallelluia! This is the best news I've had in a while -- look, I'm someone who still has CNN glue on my television for most of the day; I like some anchors more than others, but don't truly hate anyone - except Rick. At this point, I really don't care who they replace him with, they'll be better than him!

If FOX can get away with making incendiary comments and Rick Sanchez makes a silly comment and gets fired, I thing CNN is way too sensitive. Reinstate Rick Sanchez now!

Its about time CNN got rid of Rick Sanchez. The man is an idiot. I wonder what CNN will do with his time spot though.

I find it ironic that Rick Sanchez chose to write about "idiocy," when he is the idiot.
I know he looks at Glen Beck, and sees him making great publishing advances for writing pure nonsense, but Glen Beck isn't an idiot. He acts like an idiot. There is a difference. And he has learned how to market himself in such a way that thousands are buying into it. This is called "smarts." Which Sanchez lacks.
It is also obvious that he is jealous of Jon Stewart's intellectual saavy and his ability to engage millions and to dominate as a political satirist and win emmys year after year, mocking people like Sanchez, because of their total lack of journalistic knowledge.
Forget the anti-semetism, which is bad enough. Eventually, as Helen Thomas learned, what you really feel rears its ugly head, whether you are succssful or not.

@9:42pm: Rick Sanchez's comment was not silly. It was hateful and he's the bigot.
Fox News goes after Democrats. They don't eat their own.

Rick Sanchez should have been fired for his pure lack of knowledge. He was a disgrace. Everytime he opened his mouth he put his foot into it.
Wasn't it just a few months ago, he couldn't even find places he was speaking about on a map???
Reinstate him? Why?
He never should have been hired in the first place.

I already love the new head of CNN for this. I really don't even care what he said about Jon Stewart, he deserved to be gone because he was an ill-informed and irresponsible journalist.

The statement from CNN management is
puzzling. No rebuke of the comments he
made and wishing Rick Sanchez well.
The PR department meeds to clean this
up. I am on of those who think he should
never have been anchoring on CNN in
the first place. Rick Sanchez was a joke.
Maybe CNN's ratings will improve during
the day.I can hear I told you so coming
from the DC bureau. This guy does not
realize how bad he really is. Thanks CNN
for canning the clown.

All I know is a real journalist like Don Lemon
needs to be given the 2 hours before TSR.
We all no Jon Stewart was not joking Rick
Sanchez because he is Hispanic. It is because
he is the dumbest anchor. Boy was JS right.
I am not buying his story. If anyone of the
suits did not want him anchoring, he would
never had made it to the chair. his arrogance
finally bought him down.

Who will host the show on Monday? Will Brooke Baldwin take over? Will it still be called "Rick's list"
I wonder

Anonymous said...

Brooke is anchoring today. That probably
means it is between TJ and Don.Sanchez
has been having meltdown after meltdown
on the air and the bosses stood by and
let it happen. When you see a daily wreck
happening on CNN why not stop it.

The new head of CNN really stepped up this week and put ethics over ratings. While Rick's show may have been unique at the beginning it turned into something quite different over time. I only watched the first half hour of the afternoon edition to see how he would handle any breaking news story, but then turned it off. I found him to be arrogant and with an attitude that really turned me off. I'm glad he's gone and am interested to see what the new network head will do next.

The only one who should be Rick's List now is : Rick

EmmKay: It does matter what he said about Jon Stewart who has the utmost admiration and respect of many.
Sanchez is a hateful ill informed bigot that should have been gone long before this.
How would he explain Soledad O'Brien's success? I'll explain it.
She's a Harvard Grad who speaks seven languages and is not only Hispanic, but Afro-American, and an emmy winning journalist that puts him to shame.
He blames others for his own stupidity and doesn't recognize it.
Easier to blame others.

Let's hope moving forward that CNN does put
ethics above ratings. Rick's List was a horrible
waste of air time. World leaders talk to Jon
Stewart and so do the movers and shakers.
Why ? Stewart has credibility and is for real
and not fake trying to make himself the news.
They don't care about hate speech from Rick
Sanchez and others at CNN. It is good that CNN
has zero tolerance for this type of talk. CNN
really needs to hire someone to keep an eye
on what goes out over the network all day
long.CNN needs to stop lowering it's standards.
Thank you Ken Jautz. Now let's see what the
new boss will do next.CNN should check out
VBS TV and what Current TV originally set out
to do when it first launched as a network for
news and info aimed at 18-34 yr olds.
Rick Sanchez was never cutting edge news.
Jon Stewart talks with world leaders and
movers and shakers and gets everyone to
come on his show because he is smart,
intelligent,well read and informed. You
get more news on the Daily Show than
CNN. Rick Sanchez is just jealous. Jon
Stewart speaks the truth about cable news
and viewers agree. Rick Sanchez is proof
positive that Jon Klein completely ruined
CNN and destroyed it's reputation. I too
would like to see Don Lemon on from 3-5.
Gotta go with TJ in Don's prime time hours
on weekends. I am not sure what that
would do to the morning show maybe
Rob Marciano and Brooke Baldwin.

Is it possible that Rick Sanchez was about
to lose his daily 2 hour show. I think Ken
Jautz was going to drop his show and make
him a reporter. Well Jautz did the best thing
for CNN and fired Rick instead.I hope the
CNN management team takes the time and
reads some of the comments in social media.
So many of the comments say shows like
Rick List is why CNN stinks. CNN is filled with
too much crappy opinion.CNN is not helping
itself with Eliot Spitzer either. Not only is
Rick Sanchez a bigot like many started to
point out a while back just from some other
comments he made but the moron took
a swipe at management. Did he really think
he would get away with attacking the top
brass. Now Jon Stewart and others are
having the last laugh. As people dig and
pull up other Sanchez moments on CNN ,
this will not go away anytime soon. There
have already been media reporters taking
CNN to task for calling this a news show,
when it clearly was not.By the way Rick
Sachez was never considered to be a
god anchor. His actions also got him
fired at MSNBC. CNN should have known
better.

@5:22PM: I feel you are correct.
Sanchez probably knew his head was going to roll anyway, so maybe he felt he had nothing to lose.
But having said what he said, who is going to hire him?

It will be interesting to see how low his "best seller - as he refer's to it" book drops on the NYT book list. I also noticed on the cover of his book, it says in big letters - Host of CNN's Rick List" I bet they'll make him pull that and redo the cover!

Good riddance, he's so annoying with his constant reminder to viewers that he is an "immigrant" himself. Give me a break. He makes more money than most people put together.

Jon Stewart was very gracious to Rick, the bigot, Sanchez.
He said on his own show, that he really didn't believe Sanchez meant what he said.
While I usually agree with Jon, I don't give Sanchez the benefit of the doubt.
People have a way of saying things, like Helen Thomas, when you least expect it and they've been holding it at bay for a long time.
