Reports: John Roberts leaving American Morning; Tony Harris leaving CNN

Will the new year bring a slew of shakeups at CNN, now under new Ken Jautz-led management? The New York Post thinks so.
The Murdoch-owned tab says the head-rolling and chair-shifting will being in January, with American Morning co-host John Roberts first on the list to pick up a new gig, at least according to the Post’s “insiders:”
John Roberts is finalizing a contract to leave “American Morning” and start a new life as a CNN national correspondent in At lanta, where his pregnant fiancĂ©e, Kyra Phillips, anchors “CNN Newsroom.” Insiders speculate that handsome newsreader T.J. Holmes, who filled in for Roberts yesterday, is one of the favorites to take over Roberts’ role and anchor alongside Kiran Chetry. “T.J. Holmes has always been groomed for a bigger gig,” an insider told us.
The Posties also suggest it’s the end of the CNN road for CNN daytime anchor Tony Harris, who will reportedly “announce to his staff…that he’s leaving the network after six years.”

CNN told the Post it would not comment on talent contracts.

More later, no doubt...

Good for TJ and now find a permanent spot for Don Lemon.
Feel badly about Tony Harris but HE too, was not appreciated by CNN.
John Roberts is boring. He really doesn't deserve a new gig.
CBS let him go years ago and if CNN were smart, which we know they're not, they would do the same.
Let Roberts go off in the sunset with Kyra Philips. She seemed extra giggly today and now we know why.

American Morning needs a fresh new team.
John Roberts is a good journalist and should
have never been paired with Kiran Chetry in
the first place. Both are responsible for the
ratings. Kiran Chetry can't bring in viewers
either.I agree about TJ & Don but a completely
different morning team is needed.AM is a
really boring show. Sadly, CNN let Betty &
Nicole Lipan go and they would be perfect
with TJ in the morning.CNN should bring
over Robin Meade to anchor with Tj and
ad a couple of more people.TJ & Robin have
million dollar personalities and will likely
bring in younger viewers especially if you
add a couple of young 20 something
journalists. Retire AM and come up with
a brand new show with a brand new
title.

I disagree. TJ and Kiran might in fact, work. Or Don Lemon and Kiran.
Kiran does have something to offer but she never should have been paired with the "grinch."
Roberts is very "old school," and he probably resented Kiran's ability to "light up the screen."
That was one phrase, Jon Klein did get right.

Chetry is a joke. She was at Fox and is now. All about the looks and not the gravitas.
Do you see The Today Show going for looks and no brain?

I agree Chetry is a lightweight and not very
good at anchoring or interviews.CNN is just
not very good at pairing. Tj Holmes is just
one piece of the puzzle. Just like CBS, CNN
is going to shakeup the morning show.I have
a feeling that both John Roberts & Kiran Chetry
will be taken off AM. Go to TV by the Numbers
and look at the ratings.I hope Reynolds Wolf
and Josh Levs comes along as well, but you do
need a couple of women,Unfortunately, CNN
let all of their young up and coming women
get away.I love my weekend guys on CNN.

CNN should have been hiring and looking for
journalists. Now they have no where to go and
CNN is falling behind in the morning and in
prime time.CNN management forgot why
people watch CNN. It is for news and they
had better fix the content of CNN and hire
journalists so CNN can get it's credibility
back.I don't think CNN viewers ever really
warmed up to Kiran Chetry. TJ & Robin does
sound interesting. Robin has been beating
Morning Joe in he demo for months.CNN
is a complete mess. Just look at the
dumb decisions made on the prime time
lineup. CNN will mess this up as well.
They are Certainly No News. That is what
CNN means now.

There have been rumors of Robin Meade
jumping ship to CNN. She does have some
good numbers, but what about the rest
of the Morning Express team. Do they
come along as well ? It is like 5 of them.
If you add Tj that makes 6. That sounds
really interesting.

Women like to look at OTHER women.
Yes, it does matter if Kiran does not know her subject matter, but most of them read the teleprompter anyway.
ALL OF FOX GALS are lightweight and look at their ratings!
In the end it matters not what they know but how they look, unfortunately.
Kiran Chetry is not the reason CNN is going down the drain folks.

Robin Meade deserves the promotion to CNN.
Her numbers are amazing. There are days
when she comes close to topping Fox & Friends.
Morning Express is a good show. The media
critics might give all of the coverage to Joe,
but Robin Meade is the big story.

I love the weekend morning show.I always watch
Tj,Josh & Reynolds. I also really enjoy the segments
with Nadia Bilchik and the sports segments. I am
a Joe Carter fan. The question is who would be the
female anchor alongside TJ, and does the show
now come out of ATL. One reason CNN might be
behind Morning Joe is that MSNBC is live at 5 AM.
It is simple, do you want fresh news when you
first turn on the tv or tapped shows. In major tv
markets some stations are on as early as 4 AM.
How about an early edition of Morning Express
live at 5AM on CNN.I also love Fred & Don on
the weekends. The weekend shows are better
than the weekday shows on CNN. Does anyone
know the ratings for the weekend morning
show. I would like to know if it tops AM.

I will miss TJ on Saturday mornings. I certainly hope you are giving him another spot, but if not, and if he goes to another network, to be sure....I will watch him. He not only gets the news right, he has wonderful presence. A great smile and infectious humor. Hey! He'd make a great replacement for Matt Lauer!
