CNN Streams Online and On Mobile

CNN is First to Stream 24-Hour News Network Online and On Mobile

CNN.com Unveils New Video Experience to Showcase Live CNN and HLN TV, On-Demand Video, Multi-tasking

CNN and HLN’s complete 24-hour television networks will be streamed live on CNN.com, the CNN App for iPad and the CNN App for iPhone and iPod touch beginning today, July 18. CNN Worldwide is the first news organization to stream its linear television channels online and on mobile devices to consumers who subscribe to a multi-channel video service. Simultaneous to this launch, CNN.com has debuted its new video experience, which seamlessly integrates live network TV into a larger and higher-quality video player, capable of delivering HD quality.

CNN and HLN online and mobile streaming is currently available to approximately 50 million households with subscribers to participating pay TV providers, including: AT&T, Comcast, Cox, DISH Network, Suddenlink and Verizon.

“A principle goal for CNN is to make more of our content available to more people on more platforms, and CNN’s participation in the TV Everywhere initiative is another step forward in that effort,” said Jim Walton, President of CNN Worldwide. “We have long believed that our growth depends on keeping CNN essential and relevant to consumers wherever they are."

To access CNN and HLN online, users can go to www.cnn.com/video, click on the “Live” tab and log-in through their cable, satellite or telco provider with a username and password.

For mobile devices, a user can download the CNN App for iPad or the CNN App for iPhone and iPod touch (or update their app to version 1.2 for iPhone, 1.1 for iPad), and authenticate in the same way.

“CNN is taking a significant step forward by offering live CNN and HLN TV to our audiences whether they are on their couches at home or have their toes in the sand on the beach," said KC Estenson, general manager of CNN Digital. “The 10 million users who have downloaded CNN's mobile apps and the tens of millions of people who get the latest news and information from CNN.com every day will soon be able to watch CNN TV on every device they have."

CNN.com’s new video experience offers a cinematic player that optimizes the video quality for a user based on their Internet connection, with the capability of delivering HD quality. Video can be “squeezed back” to allow a user to browse through curated CNN video collections and TV show clips without leaving the video experience.

In addition to the live streams of CNN’s networks, the video experience will continue to offer up to four live streams of breaking news and events, original video series and on-demand video clips with related CNN and HLN show information.

The CNN App for iPad and CNN App for iPhone and iPod touch are available for free from the App Store or at www.itunes.com/appstore.

It is much better this morning than it was
on launch day. CNN should permit people
to stream CNN, HLN & CNN I and view all
episodes of their favorite CNN shows. Not
everyone is in to cable/satellite these days.
A 5 dollar subscription fee for those who
don't have cable or whose television carrier
have not signed on to TV Everywhere. Think
of it as a Netflix for news junkies. That is
5 dollars a month. It can't be too much. CNN
would not want to face what is about to
happen to Netflix. It should not be as costly
since CNN already owns the rights to the
channels and it could tap into a market that
is kinda ignored. I know people who go with
Hulu & Netflix only. However, this is a step
in the right direction. Right now NBC Nightly
News is the only network that offers full
episodes of their evening newscast. It has to
be more accessible and widely available. This
is the next logical step for CNN HBO GO is
making TV Everywhere gain popularity. It help
me discover BoardWalk Empire and if I need
to refresh my memories on True Blood, Game
Of Thrones , Hung or Entourage, HBO GO is
the destinations.

Also this CNN should offer the entire CNN
news archives online. ABC is already doing
this it is pretty cool stuff.

Did you guys notice Don Lemon anchored ITA
last night. Good for him.

Piers Morgan should never be seen on CNN
again. Just now an MP called CNN's journalistic
ethics into question because they were dumb
enough to hire Piers Morgan, CNN deserves
everything they have coming at them. They
knew that he is unethical and they blatantly
lied to their viewers via an ad campaign. It
is like the lady said it is no secret about how
unethical Piers Morgan is, for goodness sake
he put it in writing in a book.CNN is done.
Ha ha. Crash and burn. I salute the brave
lady who called CNN to the carpet. It is yet
another example of an arrogant out of touch
management team in corporate media.
Would you trust anything you see on CNN ?

When Glen Beck and keith Olbermann became
problems for their networks. FNC & MSNBC
took action. CNN is too afraid and it is going
to prove to be a costly decision. Love it. CNN
has just been exposed to the world. How does
CNN justify hiring Piers Morgan ?

CNN's best organization is not offered to the market they consider the most important. When CNN gets smart and allows their U.S. audience access to CNN International, they will reap rewards. Offer CNNI on the internet for a fee, those of us that want it will surely pay for it.
Because CNN is certainly losing the audience with the domestic product they are putting out now.

How about offering CNNi in place of Piers Moron?
Fill the hour with some respectable journalism. Throw out the trash.

God I'm SO sick of all the whining here! CNN is the FIRST news cast to let people stream for FREE on all their devices and yet more moaning and whining from people here.

You hate the organization CNN has or Pierce Morgan. Get over it! Or watch Fox News or something. I dont mind people criticizing the network, but even when they do something RIGHT like this its still the same critisms in every thread. Its like some people dont even read the headline and just go through the same talking points about ratings, not enough news on primetime hour, Pierce Morgan, Pierce Morgan, Pierce Morgan and so on.

Cant people stay on topic sometimes? At least one poster acknowledge how great this is!
