Football is a way of life at many high schools across America, and that’s true at JH Rose High School in Greenville, North Carolina, as well. But football glory has come at a cost for JH Rose. In the fall of 2008, Jaquan Waller, a JH Rose junior, died from "second impact syndrome," a fatal swelling of the brain that occurred when he took a blow to his head before his first concussion injury had healed, just weeks later Matt Gfeller, a sophomore at Reynolds High School in neighboring Winston-Salem, NC, died from a single concussion. And even last year, the J.H. Rose Rampants lost their star quarterback when his fourth football-related concussion took him out of the game forever. CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta speaks with the coaches, parents and kids trying to learn how to prevent this danger in youth sports.

Hi we are back. We decided to run some numbers
for January 2012 that might paint a picture as to
how CNN and their competitors fared this month.
TV NEWSER is the data source.

360 at 10 PM will be the top rated show on CNN.

360 (10) is averaging 855,000/316, 000

TLW is averaging 860,000/187,000

OTR is averaging 1,693,000/410,00

The Friday ratings are excluded. It is safe to say
that 360 will be 2nd in the demo for the hour.
The totals are still in play. There is also this
question : will OTR get less than 400,000 in
demo ?

At 8 PM there is only a 20,000 difference in the
demo between Anderson and ED.

360 is averaging 616,000/194,000

ED is averaging 1,064,000/214,000

BOR is averaging 3,097,000/654,000

Question : Will 360 finish above 600,000 and
can Anderson pull off big number for Friday ?

360 at 8PM could be the #2 show on CNN

Prime time is in play as well. This is a surprise.
We say CNN will top MSNBC in the prime time
demo. MSNBC will win a squeaker with totals.

CNN is averaging 1,131,000/330,000

MSNBC is averaging 1,012,000/234,000

FNC is averaging 2,386,000/564,000

We are not sure bu we think FNC might be
down because of OTR. MSNBC might be down
a litter and CNN might have some growth.360
is creating some problems for MSNBC. The big
question : can CNN might the right decisions
that will permit the to beat MSNBC ?

This is part 1. The sequel follows

The Sequel.

TSR is averaging 584,000/132,000

Hardball is averaging 808.000/147,000

The 5 is averaging 1,725,000/365,000

it seems like TSR would be doing a whole lot
better considering that is is an election year.
These number shave to raise some red flags.

JK,USA is averaging 477,000/138,000

Sharpton is averaging 178,000/173,000

SPCL RPT is averaging 1,980,000/414,000

This is very disappointing. WHy is JK doing so
badly up against Rev Al ? That's gotta hurt.

Out Front is no having much luck either and
Erin Burnett likely gets some bump from 360.
That has us wonder just how low her ratings
are for the first 45 minutes.

PMT is averaging 601,000/180,000

TRMS is averaging 1,019,000/260,000

Hannity 2,008,000/475,000

CNN is going with the bookends of 360
hoping to lift PMT. It is getting a bump
from the 360 repeat. and if 360 continues
to grow at 8 it might work. We are skeptical
We don't think 360 and PMT draw the same
type of viewers TRMS likely draws a similar
audience to 360. We will be watching to see
if Rachel is getting closer in the demo to
Sean Hannity like AC is with Greta. It seems
like those loyal BOR viewers might be tuning
out earlier and not staying with Hannity and
Greta. The year is young and this is just Jan
2012 . There is still a long way to go.

These numbers are subject to change with
more data to come but they likely will not
be much of a difference unless someone
has a blockbuster Friday night. The numbers
are just for Mon-Fri. You get your 5 & 7 day
ratings and each network will spin with the
numbers in a favorable light to them.

Stay tuned. Next month we start keeping an
eye on Starting Point. Right now it is not looking
to good.

We are sorry. Sharpton is averaging
798,000/178,000

We also failed to post the ratings for
the 7 PM hour.

Out Front is averaging 473,000/148,000

Hardball is averaging 825,000/199,000

Fox Rpt is averaging 1,846,000/355,000

We thought we would give everyone some
bonus info. Demos is how all make $$$$.
We thought we would give you all the %
of the demos for the shows.

Before we have mentioned 360 had a higher
% of the 25-54 demo than other shows. That
is the moneymaker.

At 10, 360 has a 37 % demo average

TLW has 22 %

OTR has 24 %

Even at 8, 360 has the highest % of demo
viewers compared to the competition.

360 has a demo average of 32 %

ED has 20 %

BOR has 21 %

That is why 360 makes a ton of money
for CNN. In fact it seems like there are
more commercials on 360. Advertisers
likely want their ads on 360.

Stay Tuned

As goes 360, so goes CNN. That is why I don't
understand why CNN is ruining 360 by having
pundits open the show. It is not working with
John King or Soledad. Yet CNN keeps trying to
make the pundits work. They need to leave 360
alone and let them do their thing . I won't be
watching CNN for most of this week because it
will be politics all of the time.

With shows like Starting Point, Out Front and
some other very serious problems, things are
not changing for CNN. Anderson Cooper has
some loyal viewers, but can that save CNN ?
This means that 360 will stay on at 8 & 10.

CNN has to do something about TSR, John King,
Out Front and even PMT. Is this the best that
CNN could find to succeed Larry King ? What
does CNN management see in Piers Morgan.
Then again this the same crew that thought
Erin Burnett would be a good idea. CNN can't
perform personality transplants for Morgan
or Burnett and that is the big problem. If you
want viewers to stick with you for an hour,
you have to have a host that viewers like.
Both Erin Burnett & Piers Morgan are very
bad at TV. They are so weak.

The sad part is that CNN is actually getting a bump this month due to the debates. What happens in the next couple months when debates dwindle off and people become less interested in the primary? Outfront is not doing well yet she posted a couple of big days because she was lead-in to the debate. That helps her average and it still isn't great. I've been checking the ratings on Starting Point and they are just awful. I mean *really* bad. I've watched the show and I was open minded but it is just pundit talk and really uninteresting. CNN needs to just do something totally different.
