I cannot believe I am defending Piers Morgan. I just saw his interview tonight with that Toure' guy. Wow, I totally felt bad for Piers Morgan for being attacked that way. This Toure' guy is a complete joke. There was absolutely no reason for him to attack Piers over his interview with George Zimmerman's brother. I think Piers did an outstanding job. I would love to see the interview posted on this blog so we can all have a discussion about it.

I have so much respect for Piers Morgan after tonight.

I am seeing promotions for the April 3rd primaries and I think CNN chose wisely to incorporate the coverage into it's regularly scheduled primetime lineup, rather than having hours of non-stop America's Choice 2012 coverage like previous times. This way, other news headlines and stories can be incorporated as well.

Piers Morgan officially replaced Larry King for me tonight.

Is Anderson on vacation next week?

CNN can't afford negative publicity right now. When
the Daily Beast , which is owned by Tina Brown a
friend of Piers Morgan, says he looked bad , you
know it is bad news for CNN. People are cynical and
view it as a ratings stunt. It made CNN look bad. What is worst is that CNN does not know when they
are on losing end. Don't keep playing the video.
There is more interest in Keith Olbermann and
Current TV. No one cares about Piers Morgan.

CNN has to modernize and it is failing to do so.
Some elements of the original Current would work
well for CNN. The PODS on Current were actually in
depth and offered lots of info. I like the timeline
that showed how long each of the individual PODS.
I also admired the short intro to set up the POD you
would see.

I would like for CNN to lose the crawl and the giant
banners. I think it should animate between the CNN
logo and the show title all screen right. Don't have
the banner up permanently. Have it for 7 seconds
at the beginning and every 30 seconds say you
are watching and coming up. When there are maps
and still photo or info-graphics let them be full
screen. Have music all day long. Who does not
read news on the web and listen to music at the
same time. Every 15 minutes the content should
change and CNN should book interesting guests
to interview all day long. The world is big and CNN
is thinking to small with pundits. CNN needs to
knock it off with the just let people go at it. What
about the viewers ?

CNN future will be determined by how they
incorporate and mix old and new media. Make the
transition to content providers and not opinions.
CNN does need to fix things and time is running out.CNN needs to establish it's own identity and
for goodness sakes dare to be different. Come up
with your own ideas and stop trying to copy what
is already out there.

I miss the original Current TV. Elliot Spitzer is a
big mistake.CNN is about to hit rock bottom. Can
the network be saved ? Probably not. Too many
costly mistakes. I don't think Strombo, Aisha Tyler
or any big names would come to CNN. They are in
the midst of a steep decline and lacks leadership.
Once your alienate viewers it is very hard to get
them back. CNN has lost it's identity. That is the
problem.

I agree. CNN basically needs to be re-launched.

Candy Crowley, Joe Johns and Tom Foreman will provide ongoing updates on CNN during the normal primetime lineup for Tuesdays primaries. So happy CNN decided to do this. I've stated before that it's pointless to have 8 hours of coverage from the Election Center when there is so much other news going on in the world. Their primetime shows will get better exposure too.

I also like that CNN will incorporate election coverage into their primetime shows. I hope it helps their ratings numbers. It is great to see Candy Crowley do the political coverage - she should play a larger role in all the election coverage. One question I have, where is John King in this week's election? Why isn't he featured as the lead-in for Tuesday's results instead of Burnett who doesn't know anything about politics?

For those who comment about CNN needing a brand relaunch, I totally AGREE! Like CBS news who is launching a new "hard news" identity that acts as a mission statement for all new programs from CBS This Morning to Evening News to 60 Minutes. I read a comment on this great blog not long ago about rebranding the shows to a CNN identity instead of naming the show's after the host. I thought that was a great idea. If you are THE channel for news, make real news your brand, not some narcissistic personality. Hire and employ anchors that share and demonstrate CNN news values first and foremost. CNN needs a shakeup of their talent - they got some great people but they aren't used properly. Some folks like Burnett and Morgan, just need to go because they undermine the CNN brand of serious, hard news and investigative journalism. King should do political segments on other shows instead of his own show. Have Blitzer go back to being the lead-in for AC360. CNN could try an ensemble show of some of their B-team reporters to precede Blitzer. I would love to see a show like Zakaria GPS on weeknights. I like MSNBC but they have their weaknesses. I just can't watch Al Sharpton or Ed Shultz. If MSNBC ever put Chris Hayes and MHP on primetime, CNN would be dead to me.

Get rid of all the prime time anchors. I don't see one of them winning their time slots.
