Howell will report for the network and will be based out of Chicago. Machado will report for CNN, CNN en EspaƱol and CNN Latino, and will be based in Atlanta.
“Pam is an outstanding reporter who made her mark in Washington, D.C. with exceptional coverage of domestic breaking news and enterprise reporting. The passion in her work is evident and we are so happy to have her join the CNN team,” said Ken Jautz, executive vice president of CNN/U.S.
“George and Alina are multi-talented,
and their passion for getting to the crux of the story comes through in their

Brown comes to CNN from ABC-TV affiliate WJLA-TV and NewsChannel 8, in Washington, D.C., where she most recently served as Sunday evening anchor and special projects reporter. During her six years at WJLA-TV, she has anchored breaking news and continuous coverage of several high profile events, including Hurricane Sandy, a metro train derailment and the historic blizzard of 2010. Howell joins CNN after reporting extensively for the network on the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, in addition to covering breaking news and substitute anchoring. Machado also comes to CNN from the ABC-TV affiliate WSB-TV2 in Atlanta, and previously from ABC 11 - WTVD in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she covered John Edwards’ campaign finance fraud case and the deadly tornado outbreak in 2011 that damaged downtown Raleigh. While in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she was a bi-lingual anchor and correspondent for duopoly Telemundo WDJT-TV CBS-58, serving as a general assignment reporter for WDJT CBS-58 in English, while anchoring for Telemundo in Spanish. She has been honored by the AP and the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association. She made her broadcast journalism debut while studying at the Medill School of Journalism with NBC-TV affiliate WGEM-TV.

Jautz is still at CNN? I can't believe that incompetent flake is still there - I thought for sure Zucker would kick him to the curb with the rest of the moldy CNN mgmt.
I am finding Piers Morgan very refreshing because he is making violence and guns, an issue and not backing down. Good for him!
I know that there are those who feel that he is doing this just for ratings and if he is, good for him.
That means people are watching and they are paying attention and they are interested and he has nothing to gain for his obsession.
He is not a US citizen and today he had on Michael Moore, the activist, who urged viewers to email Harry Reid.
It seems Reid is backing down on the assault weapons ban. He is a whimp and he and Pelosi need to resign. They are nothing more than figure heads.
And where is our mighty President on this issue?? Wasn't he supposed to USE his executive powers to pass legislation on the gun control issue??
Well I'm waiting and so are millions in the silent majority who are not gun owners BUT, who out number those that own guns.
There are many things about Piers Morgan that are unlikeable, but his earnest repulsion about the gun lobby issue and the NRA's entitlement propaganda, is not one of them and I say: Piers keep on, keeping on.
At least you are a host that STANDS FOR SOMETHING, unlike some on CNN.
Piers Morgan is like a dog with a bone when it comes to gun control and he'd probably make a very good politician, someone this country needs right now.
His tenacity alone is a very good component for holding office.
He does not cringe just because a few want him to be 'deported' and I really don't know why.
Tonite for instance he had on the entire Newtown Police Dept to rehash the details of that dreadful day and to discuss whether showing photos of the victims, riddled with gunshot wounds, as was suggested by Micheal Moore, was a healthy idea.
The panel decided that showing more violence would not be as effective as limiting the number of bullets per weapon.
Though nothing was decided, at least we know that Piers Morgan is NEVER going to stop talking about this atrocity.
Morgan's best defense against the NRA is his podium and his voice, and not letting this subject, for use of a better word, Die.
Just when you thought things couldn't get any worse at CNN, Jeff
Zucker has his eye on none other than Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the one that Barbara Walters swore
wasn't leaving but IS.
Please tell me that she wouldn't be a conservative political contributor.
The woman couldn't formulate a sentence on The View and the sound of her voice is sooo irritating I can hear the remotes clicking now, and she hasn't even signed on yet.
But she has all the qualifications for CNN, blonde and incompetent.
And, if sources are correct, it was on page 6 of the NYP and TVN, she is as they say....'a coming.'
Agreed, Anon 12:25am! Bringing in Elizabeth Hasselback is a dumb idea. What the hell is she gonna do? She has no history of journalism or even experience in politics. She just another talking head. I don't care what her politics are, I get tired of cable news filling airwaves with people whose only discernable skill is ranting their ideology on tv. You get rid of Roland Martin and bring in Hasselbeck? You are just trading one idiotic loudmouth liberal for another idiotic loudmouth conservative! Geez, CNN, STOP THIS!
