CNN is terrible. Travon Martn is a victim not a criminal so why are their talking heads talking about rape. CNN is losing focus on the story. Gawker is being more responsible than CNN. They do a softball interview with Mark O'Mara that made it seemed like Travon Martin was caught up in the criminal justice system. Just when we didn't think CNN could get any lower they become cheerleaders for George Zimmerman. Gawker is following the trial of some of the people posting comments on CNN and others and it's disturbing. CNN falsely said this morning that the family wash behind the social media movement in support of Travon Martin. Wrong : thousands of high school & college kids protested becuase they it as wrong. Wearing a hoodie and walking in the rain is not a crime CNN. CNN seems to think it is okay to portray Travon Martin as a menacing black male teen. Shame on CNN.

I agree 11:54 am. CNN's coverage with 360's recap has been disgusting. They have turned Zimmerman into some sort of hero vigilante protecting his neighborhood and now Trayvon is portrayed as a criminal, even Jeffrey Toobin has moved away from his more balanced approach to join in with the others on 360's panel who salivate over Mark O'Mara and the defense and denigrate everything the prosecution does. Sunny Hostin is not the strongest or best representative for the side of the prosecution, but that's still no reason for her to be ganged up on nightly and mocked and subjected to abusive comments by the likes of that loudmouthed bully Geragos who's treated like he's some kind of genius instead of the shrill, spotlight loving clown he actually is. It seems CNN/360 has a blame the victim narrative they want to push and that is that it would be a travesty if Zimmerman is found guilty. Those of us who believe that had he simply stayed in his car as he was warned to do, nothing would've ever happened. This is HIS fault and no one else's, but you won't get that on CNN/AC360.

CNN is disgusting. The comments made by George Zimmerman's brother shows that CNN has no morals. I am never watching CNN again. There are going to be peaceful marches across America on Sunday. Regardless of race. Something is wrong when you can be approached by someone out of law enforcement and basically be killed for having done nothing. Florida is heavily dependent on tourism. My parents are never going to have our family vacation in that state again. How can teen tourists feel safe .

Jeff Zucker should be really proud. Why on earth would CNN air an insensitive tweet about Trayvon Martin from Ted Nugent ? There is no difference between Trayvon and Sandy Hook. CNN should never make a mockery of anyone dying. Have you no shame.
Like Jay Rosen says, done with CNN. We used to care about CNN but not anymore.

Anonymous said...

CNN thinks they are being provocative but the are
coming across as ignorant. CNN will rot your brain.
When children are killed , you would think CNN
would at least act responsibly. What's the point in
having pundits come on and yell after the verdict.

Anonymous said...

Zucker is banking on getting more conservatives to watch CNN and that's why they are moving in the direction where they cheerlead for Zimmerman and his lawyers and put on his equally disgusting brother. Piers Morgan did tweet the truth once, that had Zimmmerman stayed in the car, Trayvon would've been alive, but he insists on giving the foul brother airtime. Ted Nugent's name shouldn't even be spoken on a reputable news channel, but CNN is no longer that.

Anonymous said...

Who is CNN to tell the Travyvon's family that they don't have the right to seek justice for their unarmed son who was killed coming home from the store. CNN, the pundits and lawyers lives are not affected at all. It is easy for them to sit on their butts and run their mouths because it's not their lives. What if it were their child ? I doubt they would sit by and do nothing. Letting people use CNN to take cheap shots at Trayvon's family proves CNN has zero conscience. Oh yeah, according to CNN there was going to be rioting. CNN loves to portray the worst stereotypes about people.

CNN has been a network filled with hate for quite some time. You guys are surprised that CNN is celebrating the murder of Trayvon Martin. This is CNN . Look for more viewers to quit CNN in the coming days. CNN is nothing without viewers. Standby for a huge ratings drop. People are organizing and CNN won't know what hit them. People are being urged not to watch CNN. Also, CNN thinks the Glee actor death is more of a tragedy than Trayvon Martin.

Tonite Anderson Cooper had one of the attorney's for Trayvon Martin on and was interrogating him as whether he would file a civil suit against George Zimmerman.
Was this the same anchor who for weeks was playing devil's advocate and leaning towards Zimmerman's aquital on manslaughter charges?
During panel discussions, with those in the know, we heard jokes and laughter, about a case that was
frought with racial undertones.
None of this was appropriate then, and asking about how and if there would be a new trial going forward, was also inappropriate.
It is obvious that Mr.Cooper has forgotten that these attorneys charge hefty fees, even during slow news cycles.

An unarmed teen is murdered. What is ideological about that ? The only tweets that mattered were from the parents of Trayvon Martin. Maybe CNN should be trying to elevate the conversation not put a murder into an ideological box. You make choices and CNN continues to have a narrow vision of ideology. Jeff Zucker is making the same mistakes of his predecessors . Ideology makes CNN unwatchable. It's only a matter of time before CNN crashes again.CNN always focuses on the same tired old people over and over again. What ever happened to smart , intelligent conversation. There is a reason why majority of Americans can't stand cable news. It's not news or informative.

This morning I decided to go with Morning Joe instead of New Day simply because New Day turned me off Sunday morning. Props to Mika for saying the craziness of ideologues on social media should not be on Morning Joe. She went with articles instead of hyperbole. Mika said she had to get off the internet because the conversation was repulsive. The describes CNN's coverage : repulsive.

Social media is the only reason Trayvon's story gained national attention. Unfortunately, the trolls are who CNN follows. There's artwork of MLK in a hoodie, radio stations are playing an amazing song called Black Gold. The song has some of the most powerful lyrics you will ever hear.

Jon Stewart is right CNN is terrible. CNN just put
on a Crossfire segment on the Zimmerman trial.
They had a versus graphic and said expect some
fireworks. Really CNN. AJAM can not come soon
enough. What is wrong with these people. No
more CNN for me. Former CNN viewer.

TVN has the ratings for the verdict. More than 10 million watched the verdict but the numbers dropped post- analysis. Viewers are more interested in the real news event than talking head panels. CNN's ratings took a dive because of pundits. The data proves this. Why would Jeff Zucker repeat the same mistakes. IMHO
MSNBC has been the most responsible with constructive conversations from Joy-Ann Reid & MHP. Yesterday, Don Lemon brought on the tea party. I turned the channel. I thought MSNBC would be crazy but CNN proved me wrong. CNN is missing the boat. Reporting and constructive conversation maters more than POV. CNN is continuing on the train wreck course. CNN could be looking for a new management as early as next year. CNN can't afford to lose any viewers. By the end of this month CNN could be # 4. The ratings for the Lead, TSR , Oufront, PMT & 360 are going to drop significantly without a high profile trial. CNN's shows are not that good to keep them ahead of MSNBC. 360 is it for them but how long can 360 hold up against All In.
Tripling down on pundits will send CNN of the cliff.

Right now I am watching the new revamped Lunch Money with Adam Johnson on Bloomberg. If you are looking for some news and interesting stuff this hour go to Bloomberg. They already have Bloomberg West on at 1 PM.

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see that Jeff Zucker has decided to turn CNN into a 24/7 Crossfire channel, forget the news and networks like Bloomberg and Al Jazeera will step up to fill the void. News is the CNN brand you don't mess up your brand. Not only are viewers going to flee, CNN will lose advertisers. Ted Turner is heartbroken. You can't expand the definition of news with pundits. That is not new or original.

CNN is falsely claiming that the nation is divided over the Zimmerman verdict. I see a diverse group of protesters. CNN lies. That is what happens when you use partisan blogs and media for news content. In a nation of 300 million plus ,this is not an accurate picture of where the nation stands. That is a niche audience not a large sample. At the most you are talking about 7 % of the population. It's fake.

Anonymous said...

1:18pm, who ever said that ONLY the people who protest disagree with the outcome of the trial? You can think Zimmerman was guilty and not be in the streets yelling about it. I would say there is a lot of division as a result of this trial and cable news isn't helping the matter. I don't know what the polls would say - but your accusation means CNN is gonna pay for another stupid poll to figure out how people feel about Zimmerman that was they can figure out how to report on it. Don't be an idiot - have people lost all ability to think critically? Apparently so.

The verdict in the Zimmerman case is more of an indictment of our criminal justice system and our non-existent gun law policies in this country, than it is of racial intolerance.
Had the jury, which was remarkably stacked against Trayvon to begin with, found Zimmerman guilty, the NRA would be hammering complaints against this jury's judgement because it did not uphold the "stand your ground" law in Florida, which is a pro-gun, shoot, and react later policy.
So these 6 women had a hard decision to make. They also had to debate "reasonable doubt" and there was plenty of it...on both sides of the aisle.
Who the aggressor was, was still in doubt because the evidence was cloudy and the witnesses were anything but.
In the end, there will be little a civil suit can do.
Zimmerman is not a man of means and again, the only ones who will actually win, are the attorneys.
The rest is, and always will be, is supposition.

It is unfortunate that Anderson Cooper has to speak to a juror who is in disguise for fear that she too, is in danger.
Being a juror is no easy dask especially in a case that is so high profile.
Soon we will have no jurors because everyone will fear retribution.
Then again, if we had no Supreme Court, things might begin to make a little more sense.
Weren't they the ones who recently declared that racial tension in this country had ebbed. Speaking of living in a bubble....

Anonymous said...

TVN is reporting that Piers Morgan is going to speak to Rachel Jeantel.
My question, will she be any more coherent with him than she was taking the witness stand?
Can't wait to see what she's wearing. On the witness stand she actually wore hola hoops for earrings. Bigger hoops are unavailable.
Now Trayvon's mom was a class act straight out of Barbara Bush days.
Evidently the two didn't share dress code fashion for Court.

Anonymous said...

Anderson Cooper let this juror get away with some
false statements. There is no evidence that Trayvon
Martin was looking into houses. He never asked her
if Trayvon had a right to defend himself. You can't
say you absolutely certain about the voice and the
reporter not offer a suppose question. Her based
assumption about Trayvon and Rachel says it all.
That's how they live. Taryvon Martin is from w
middle class family with college educated parents
and had been accepted into college with a 3.7
grade average according to local media. Rachel
Jeanteal is a lot smarter than you thing. Kids
regardless of race have an entire different say of
talking. Just because you don't understand it does
not mean the person lacks communication skills.
Nor does communication skills and being well-educated make you not credible of not truthful. So white collar crime never happens.

Something just does not pass the smell test with the Zimmerman juror on 360. Late Saturday they reached a verdict. By Monday she has an agent and a book deal. This is less than 48 hours. Somebody was making deals ahead of time. Crocodile tears. Who flew hear to NY ? I wonder if other jurors will agree with her claims. She says this affected her emotionally so why take blood money. The verdict does not say Zimmeran did not kill Trayvon Martin. They ruled the killing self defense. There is no dispute he killed Trayvon Martin. It is 1 of the things that is definitely a fact. Also, CNN made a huge mistake in hiring Newt Gingrich, The words lynch mob are in poor taste and CNN is being widely criticized for being irresponsible.

Anonymous said...

CNN is going to have a problem. 360 got the interview because she has ties to Mark Njame. She used his exact same words in describing Rachel Jeanteal. Her jury selection video is on the internet. She knew about this case and said there were riots. She called Trayvon a boy of color. Fear had nothing to do with her hiding her identity. She knew she would be busted. Due to backlash the book deal is off. There are even some people saying that she is the wife of Njame. If so that would be unethical for CNN. Look out. I think ABC NEWS is on to something. They have been saying she claims to be a juror.

Anonymous said...

It turns out the publishing company is letting it be known that she is the one who contacted them. That makes this really suspect. The publishing company was horrified by her 360 interview. At this point Rachel ic coming across as more credible than the juror. Rachel explained her speech impediment to Piers Morgan. Rachel is bluntly honest. What bothered me the most about the interview was how little she mentioned Trayvon and constantly called Zimmerman George. I was surprised that Anderson didn't ask her that generally when a stranger stops you on the way home. The chances of you making it home are slim. The idea that a teen should have been more mature than an adult in this situation is just simply baffling.

Mark Nejame denied it was his wife but I'll bet he knows her husband who is an attorney. In the state of Florida, the lawyers know each other.

Interesting. HLN ran Zimmerman trial highlights from beginning to closing arguments on Saturday. TVN has the ratings. You all might be on to something about letting the real events and moments take center stage rather than pundits. According to TV by the Numbers, there seems to be a drop on Sunday. Possibly, the means viewers come to see & have a visual experience. Pundits are not interesting. Boring is more accurate. being loud and trying to make shocking comments does not work well on television. Reality TV is much better at it. It's a turnoff for news. Talking heads are not news content. They are the major problems. I don't need someone to tell me what I see or think. It presents a false sense that they are more important than news.

Rachel Jeantel likely brought in big time ratings for
CNN. She is the top search on Google. People are
more interested in Jeantel than juror B-37. We'll
find out who drew the most viewers.

Anonymous said...

Juror B37 just confirmed all my suspicions and doubts about that jury. She was beyond horrible and Anderson should have pressed her harder. Her phony tears only made her seem even more repulsive.

Anonymous said...

I may watch the race and the justice system special on AC360, but I refuse to listen to more from juror B37. On New Day, Anderson Cooper sounded completely sympathetic to her and bought into her fake tears and "distress" about how the trial has affected her life. At least she HAS a life, thanks to her hero Zimmerman, an innocent life was taken. It may be easier for some to relate to her than Trayvon if you aren't listening closely to how she expresses herself about the case. Her bias and racism are crystal clear. AC360 may be trying to sell this person as credible, sincere and non-biased, but some of us, MANY of us know better. Simply listen to her words and it is obvious who/what she really is. I was completely disappointed in Anderson's softball interview with that disgusting juror.

Anonymous said...

OK folks.
The only one who doesn't seem credible is Anderson.
He is beginning to remind me too much of Geraldo Rivera, that great anchor from Fox News that gets into fist fights and throws chairs, making certain all the while that the camera is always on him.
Anderson got this 'get,' juror B37 who is afraid to show her face, but is writing a book?
Forgive me, but if you're that afraid someone might recognize you, how can you write a book?
From the interview you can tell this woman was not exactly an intellectual, "That's the way they talk," That's the way they live."
Why didn't Anderson ask her who "THEY WERE??"
Yes, she certainly was representative of an "impartial jury," that the DEFENSE ATTORNEYS AGREED TO. (Mr. Crump must be reminded of this when he critcizes the jurors' not guilty verdict.)

Anonymous said...

I say CNN should give Rachel Jeantel a talk show.
She dressed appropriately, spoke as though she was ready for primetime and was certainly prepped for the event.
And look at the ratings!
Piers could co-anchor but who needs him. Rachel is as good as anyone out there and she already has a sympathetic following.
Chris Jenner move over. There is another celeb in the making who really relates to those at home, during the day.
Trayvon did not die in vain.

Anonymous said...

Wow. You called that one right. Even Hollywood Deadline has an article on the ratings Rachel Jeantel. brought in for CNN. Look at the demos. CNN can top FNC in the demo getting a split decision most nights but it has to be done right. CNN does not have to beat FNC in viewers but if they can top FNC in demos CNN is considered to be the network of choice for advertisers. The demo is the moneymaker period. The 360 interview with B37 is disturbing to say the lease. Other jurors want to distance themselves from her comments. It's clear from the interview that she thinks Trayvon Martin should be dead. She has some serious issues. The only one who knows with 100 % certainty exactly what happened is God. Anderson Cooper should've definitely challenged her more, especially considering the reaction of other jurors. They are raising question about her credibility.

A divisive political show like Crossfire is the last thing CNN needs right now.

Rachel Jeantal may have an interesting backstory and funny tv presence but you can't make someone who is functionally illiterate run a reality show! I don't say that to be insulting to her - it is more an indictment on the educational system. I honestly wish her the best but she must learn to read and write if she is to progress in this world. We don't do any favors for her by covering it up. Rachel, please, for a brighter future, educate yourself. People will help.

Anonymous said...

She is not functionally illiterate. There are kids at Harvard who can't read cursive because no one teaches it anymore with computers. CNN viewers did not have a problem with Rachel Jeantel. Juroor B37 made similar claims and now she is walking back and apologizing.

Anonymous said...

1:01pm. You are completely wrong - Jeantel is illiterate. I can assure you, Harvard kids can read cursive. Lack of experience with cursive may cause you to stumble on a word or two, but Rachel can't read at all. Cursive does not distort letters beyond recognition. People who are fully literate can recognize words and sentences even with misspellings and words out of order because our brains can detect larger patterns. Rachel was never taught this skill. She should take up Tom Joyner's offer of tutoring to get her GED and then full scholarship to any black college. You covering for her is not helping. I don't have a problem with Jeantel - but I hope for her sake, she does something about her inability to read and write.

Anonymous said...

The question put to her was "Can you read cursive writing?"
The commenter who said that cursive writing is not taught in schools any more is absolutely correct and most children today, cannot read cursive writing but they can read.
So don't assume that Jeantel cannot read.
Another commenter said that Jeantel cannot read because "no one taught her."
Excuse me, but everyone can learn to read and has the ability and possibility of reading if you apply yourself.
Someone was teaching her. That is the purpose of public education, which did not fail her. SHE has the responsibility to want to learn.
Big difference.
Maybe now she will apply herself IF she cannot read and IS illiterate, if only out of shame.
