Thanks for the updates. Come Monday we
will know what the ratings for this past
week will be.It is possible that 360 will
pull off the ultimate upset : beating every
FNC show in the demo for an entire week.
That is a huge milestone if 360 is the top
demo over Bill,Greta & Sean. It might be
history, not sure if it has happened before.
It comes down to Friday's numbers.

Here is were things stand so far :

360 : 838,000 / BOR : 842,000

A difference of 4 thousand.

AC easily wins his 1st hour. Easily topping
Greta who has 586,000 in the demo.

Ironically, the 2nd hour of 360 could win
the demo overall. It is not prime time but
the 11 PM hour of 360 is averaging
870,000 in the demo. Not only that :
360 tops BOR in viewers and demo. Having
more than 50 % viewers in the demo. That
is big news.

360 : 1,586,000/870,000

BOR : 1,338,000/618,000

Anderson Cooper and everyone involved
in 360 should be proud. They earned the
win with some remarkable journalism.It
will be interesting to see if those numbers
are leaked before Monday. You have to
admit this is monumental. An actual news
show being the top rated cable news show.

March Madness is likely to affect the numbers.
You can see all of the games on tv for the 1st
time. I am flipping between news and sports.

For once CNN will have numbers they won't
have to spin. It is pretty clear what happened.

One footnote : CNN could also top FNC in
the day demo for the week. Also keep an
eye out for Wolf who will win the 6 PM demo
and John King at 7 PM . Yes, John KIng but it
is a more difficult task. Same thing for CNN
winning the prime time demo. hey anything
is possible, just look at the ratings for 360.

Now that the no fly zone is now going on over
Libya, will there be a special edition of 360 and
TSR ? Arwa Damon has been on the ground all
morning long.

Anderson Cooper, Wolf Blitzer & John King
can get the ratings but CNN will always give
Piers Moron the promo. Instead of saying stay
tuned to CNN for the latest news, they say
watch Piers Moron on Monday. Good to see
Wolf Blitzer. Apparently CNN does not want
to promote it's reporters.

@9:54AM: I hate to break your cable bubble, and yes 360 and CNN's demos were higher than any of Fox New's demos, BUT in totals, CNN will still place second.
It will be a close second but I'm pretty sure it will be second.
And it was "the story," and the way in which it was told that kept viewers engaged.
It had all the elements: thrilling, suspenseful and in real time.
The "anchor" did not become the story, so no one was turned off and that should be the way ALL 360
reports are done.

CNN needs to develop a we are too stupid to
know you are not suppose to beat Fox news.
In other words. our only goal is to beat Fox
and we are not scared of them.

What Anderson Cooper is doing with regards
to ratings is best described by the famous
words uttered by Joe Biden when President
Obama signed the healthcare bill. If you are
turned off by someone on television, you
won't watch them. I know I won't watch FNC
for that reason. Anderson Cooper is a huge
reason why those ratings are blowin' up.
Have you ever seen anything like this ? If
AC leads CNN to a prime time demo win
over FNC & tops BOR in the demo at 10
& captures both categories at 11 PM, Joe
Biden said it best.

Anon 9:54, I totally agree with you. Fine work by Anderson, his colleagues and producers. Whether they come in first or second, they deserve praise for their excellent coverage in Japan.

@4:00PM: If I were you, I wouldn't
quote Joe Biden on anything, especially THAT health care bill.
And people watch THE NEWS.
If you are just "watching the anchor move his lips," why leave the studio???
AC isn't a new kid on the block.
He has reported on other events and it hasn't "clicked" in the same way Japan did.
We connected with Japan through the anchor's reporting on the subject matter. He engaged the audience because "he stepped out of the way, for once, and let the story tell itself." Sound familiar?

Sorry, I did not mean anon 4:00PM in my previous post.
I meant 2:50PM.
By anon: 8:47PM

If AC had never "clicked" during other reports he's done, disasters or otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to cover Japan at all or gotten as far as he has on CNN. He was pulling in millions of viewers a night during Katrina. Yes, there are people who enjoy watching certain anchors cover stories. They like their style. Anderson is one of those reporters. Anon 2:50 is correct.

One benefactor has to be that CNN is going
with intelligent conversation and not the
pundits. CNN really needs to keep the pundits
off the news. I think that is a factor since Fox
& MSNBC is known more for opinion and not
facts. The facts matter with news coming out
of Japan & Libya. Anderson Cooper rocks. 360
has a loyal following.
