NYE on CNN Starts at 10 PM ET

Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin Back to Co-Host CNN’s New Year’s Eve Coverage
Dynamic Duo Will be Live from Times Square Beginning at 10 p.m. ET
Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin are back to co-host CNN’s coverage of the New Year’s Eve celebrations on Monday, Dec. 31, from 10 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. (ET). Bringing back their fun and unpredictable New Year’s Eve countdown program for the 6th consecutive year, Cooper and Griffin will ring in the new year live from NYC’s Time Square for CNN’s “New Year’s Eve Live with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin.”
“As always, I await New Year’s Eve with Kathy Griffin with grave reservations and tremendous fear, and I want to apologize in advance to anyone she may offend/assault/attempt to kiss” said Cooper.
“I don’t know what Anderson has been doing this past year. I assume he has been sitting, eating Bon Bons in his mother’s apartment watching reality TV, while I was helping spread democracy in Egypt or Syria or whichever” said Griffin. “Oh, and did I mention we’re giving away puppies at midnight?”
CNN correspondents will provide reports from celebrations across the country and around the world. Isha Sesay will join Cooper and Griffin from the crowds in Times Square. Correspondents John Zarrella and Gary Tuchman are on opposite ends of the East Coast, with Zarrella counting down from Key West, Florida and Tuchman from Eastport, Maine.
At 12:30 a.m (ET), Anderson and Kathy will hand off to CNN’s Brooke Baldwin at Jackson Square in New Orleans, Louisiana and HLN’s Susan Hendricks at the Hard Rock Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee for the countdown to midnight, Central time.
Viewers who tweet using #CNNNYE or post on Facebook.com/ac360, will have the chance to see their New Year’s Eve message on air. Questions for Anderson and Kathy can also be posted on the AC360 Facebook page or tweeted with the #CNNNYE hashtag and the hosts will select a few questions to answer during the show.
Leading up to “New Year’s Eve Live with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin” will be “All the Best, All the Worst 2012,” an Anderson Cooper 360° special airing at 8 p.m. (ET). The special will count down to the new year by recounting the old one with humor, insight, and fun. CNN correspondent Tom Foreman will be joined by Isha Sesay, actress and comedian Aisha Tyler, all around smart guy Ben Stein, social and political commentator and radio host Pete Dominick, Sirius-XM’s Julie Mason, and the cake boss, Buddy Valastro. They will join Foreman in shining a spotlight on the highlights and lowlights of the past twelve months in politics, pop culture, the economy, and entertainment.

Chris Cuomo to CNN?

CNN's Jeff Zucker raids ABC again as he eyes Chris Cuomo for CNN

By John Clarke

From The DailyMail Online:

From the CNN's new chief  Jeff Zucker is raiding ABC again in his search for a new face to lead the network.
According to reports, Mr Zucker is eyeing ABC's Chris Cuomo, the network's legal correspondent and co-anchor of '20/20.'
Since taking over as president of the cable network in November, Mr Zucker has been trying to build up prime-time news lineup, expand coverage beyond politics and war, and increase Hollywood coverage.

Now he just needs some new blood.
d
CNN's new president needs new blood and is reportedly looking to hire ABC's Chris Cuomo

'Jeff’s still looking for an anchor he can basically make the centerpiece of the network,' a source tells the New York Post.
Cuomo, the brother of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, worked as a correspondent at Fox News before jumping to ABC, where he was the news anchor for 'Good Morning America' from 2006 to December 2009.
He currently co-anchors '20/20' with Elizabeth Vargas.

Mr Zucker has also reportedly been looking at Ann Curry, who is still under contract with NBC, to fill the 8pm time slot, currently held by Anderson Cooper.
According to the Post, Curry fits the bill.
'[Zucker] cannot allow the low ratings at CNN to continue,' a source told the Post. "So he can’t hire a nobody. Curry fits that CNN-smarty-pants-foreign-affairs type.'
He most recently poached ABC's White House correspondent Jake Tapper.
Mr Zucker, right, is reportedly looking for a new 'centerpiece' CNN. Mr Cuomo co-currently anchors '20/20'
The onetime NBC head is also aiming to boost Hollywood coverage and general interest stories, and might move CNN’s Erin Burnett to mornings to compete with 'Today' and “Good Morning America.'
According to the New York Post, he’s also reached out to some top reporters in Hollywood, specifically at Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.
Here's the link to read the entire article.

Accomplished Washington journalist Jake Tapper, who has served the last four years as ABC’s senior White House correspondent and is a best-selling author, joins CNN as anchor of a new weekday program and CNN’s chief Washington correspondent, it was announced today by Ken Jautz, executive vice president of CNN/U.S.
Tapper has been a widely-respected reporter in the nation’s capital for 14 years and his most recent book, The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor, is currently on The New York Times best seller list. In his new role at CNN, he will be a key Washington, D.C. anchor and correspondent for CNN.
“We are thrilled to have Jake join CNN and take the helm of a brand new weekday program,” said Jautz. “Jake is an exceptional reporter and communicator, and we look forward to developing a program that takes advantage of all of his strengths, his passion and his knowledge of national issues and events.”
“With CNN’s impeccable reporting during the elections and the exciting changes in the works for the network, this is a perfect time to join the CNN team,” said Tapper. “I am excited about the prospect of working with both the new leadership and some old friends and colleagues.”
Tapper comes to CNN from ABC News, where he most recently served as senior White House correspondent, a position he was named to immediately following the 2008 presidential election. In this role, Tapper contributed regularly to “Good Morning America,” “Nightline,” and “World News Tonight with Diane Sawyer,” in addition to serving as substitute host of “This Week” and publishing to his “Political Punch” blog on ABCNews.com. While on the White House beat, Tapper has earned the coveted Merriman Smith Award for presidential coverage from the White House Correspondents’ Association an unprecedented three times in a row. He also played a key role in the network’s Emmy award winning coverage of the inauguration of President Barack Obama.
Tapper has covered a wide range of stories since joining ABC News in 2003, including the war in Iraq and Hurricane Katrina. In 2008, he served as the lead political reporter for the coverage of the presidential election. He traveled to early voting states across the country for interviews with the candidates, including the eventual Democratic and Republican nominees, then-Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain.
Prior to joining ABC News, Tapper served as Washington correspondent, then national correspondent, for Salon.com. He began his journalism career at the Washington City Paper and his writings have since been published in The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post,The Los Angeles Times and The Weekly Standard, among others. Tapper is the author of three books including the newly-released “The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor,” currently on The New York Times best seller list.
