Reliable Sources

If you aren't a viewer of CNN's Reliable Source with Howard Kurtz I'd suggest you give it a look on Sunday mornings. Kurtz takes a hard look at the news media and pulls no punches with his critiques. Here are a few clips from this week's program that look at election night ratings, the 200 million dollar-a-day trip ;) the POTUS is on and Keith Olberman and Jon Stewart.

Michael Ware on Reliable Sources

On Reliable Sources recently Howard Kurtz took a closer look at Michael Ware's assertion the he witnessed war atrocities while in Iraq that CNN refused to air. Here's Kurtz's take on the subject:

We have the actual footage from the interview with Ware that aired on Australian television:

Ware also spoke about what he had witnessed in his interview with Men's Journal, January 09 issue.

If you haven't watched the two part Australian Story series with Michael Ware here are the links. After watching and reading Ware's reports for years it's riveting to see what was going on behind the scenes in his real life.

Jon Klein Defends His Decision on Spitzer

CNN President Jon Klein spoke with Reliable Source's Howie Kurtz about his controversial decision to hire Eliot Spitzer to host a primetime program. The conversation touched on the rumblings Spitzer's hiring has caused among CNN's legitimate journalists and the negative press it has incited. The interview was taped on Friday and aired on Kurtz's Sunday morning program.

Reliable Sources October 18, 2009

During State of the Union's Reliable Sources hour, Howard Kurtz spoke with Micahel Wilbon about Rush Limbaugh's failed attempt to purchase an NFL team.

Next, the White House's attack of FOX news has FOX a little bit upset. John Aravosis, David Brody, and Marisa Guthrie discussed the White House comments and FOX's reaction.

And the hot air balloon drama was too good to pass up. Lisa Bloom, Dana Milbank, and Phil Rosenthal commented on the media's coverage. Milbank had an interesting comment:

This is exactly what's expected of them. We want our news immediately now. It's more important to get it right away than to get it right. And that's not the fault of CNN or Fox or any of the Web sites doing it, it's just what people have demanded. And this is what you're going to get.

Kurtz spoke with CNN's Soledad O'Brien about her book and the documentary that will air this week: Latino in America.
